This may have been the most disappointing AMC experience I have ever faced first hand. Theirs literally groups of workers just standing around but of course we are being helped by people who don't know what they're doing nor what they're talking about. What's worse, one of the supervisors was also just chatting it up at the ticket stand while the young man struggled with our loyalty membership (he ended up asking her for help) - just very poor management trickling down to the staff. We ask a young lady, at the concession stand, if we could get cups for water, she tells us they don't sell cups of water but we can buy a bottle of water or we can buy a fountain drink cup and get water. The fountain drink CUP was $6 compared to the bottle of Smartwater, which was $5 - we agree on the bottle water and she tells us she has small cups for water b/c we were ready to share the bottle...didn't we just ask you for cups for water? Lastly, the lights in the theater were on above us and it was very distracting. read more

It's a movie theater. Go to see movies. When this place opened it was the crown jewel of theaters for me. It replaced the older theater next doors, which I still loved, but needed updating. The place was huge. It was clean. It was fun. I went back to see No Way Home after a few years hiatus. It was trashed. It's almost like someone took their drink and spilled it from the entrance doors to their theater seat, refilled their cup, and did it again over every square inch of the place. I'll chalk it up to low staffing and late in the night. I hope they mopped. I'll do it for free it was so bad. There is another theater in town that is well known for its sticky floor. It's a small 2 screener. My whole life it was the cheap one so the jokes about the floor were fine. BUT THIS. This was worse. Staff are great, helpful, overall awesome people. I hope the AM shows the theater super clean, but wow, it was rough for that night. The drink fountains were a mess. I'm pretty sure a patron hit the ice machine and just kept their hand on it to be a loser. That's what I think mostly happened. Some kids and adults need supervision and their hand help. I hope they up their staff for cleaning and keeping an eye on the mess makers. It's the best theater in the area, so I hope they can turn it around. read more

No problems here. We do more movies now that we can hit $5 Tuesday. Concession prices are high, but in par with other theaters. My only complaint being that the movies are uncomfortably loud. I think Hobbs and Shaw actually did damage. This location it starting to show its age. Hoping for upgraded seating, mobile food orders and beer in the future. read more

Not a great experience at all my friend and I where going to see a movie and it was 8:20 and you have to be 18 and we didn't know and I turn 18 in two days and my friend is 18 and they wouldn't let us see a pg-13 movie and we were going for my bday the manger/ the one in charge told the work if he let us see it he would be fired on the spot and she was so rude and said well you can just come back on Thursday then when your of age it was just a very rude and bad encounter with the amc workers read more

(Note: This was about a month ago) So my friend and I wanted something to do but weren't sure what, then we saw there was a movie theatre and thought why not. Not many complaints but there still are those select few. We walked in and the lobby was pretty open so we got checked in really quick. It had a very retro feel to it, pink and blue neon lights everywhere, the carpet that's got all the shapes known nowadays at roller rinks, and more. We got a student discount which was super nice that we didn't know existed. We asked to see ghostbusters because that was the only movie playing that we were really interested in watching. We got our cups and went over to the machine to get the drinks, trash everywhere. Popcorn lined up against it and the trash cans, straws all over the floor, it looked like some kids had came in and just threw everything around and they left it there. But we just kept going didn't pay much mind. We got into the movie theatre and it was packed, I thought it was pretty weird considering ghostbusters had been out for a while and it wasn't that popular from what I've heard. We sat in the back and the theatre was very clean opposed to the lobby. We realized why it was packed when the movie started playing, they gave us tickets to the wrong movie. (Spider-Man). We checked the tickets and we were in the right theatre but the movie wasn't what we asked for. Not really complaining because we wanted to see that anyways but i bet someone else could've gotten in out situation and it would be pretty upsetting. I don't think I ever have given such a low review to a movie theatre before, but they definitely deserved it. This theatre has really gone downhill since I moved away. At this point they are able to hold on due to their being no competition in the are. If a Regal or Movie Tavern came, it would be all over. So what makes it so bad you ask? First and foremost they cut corners like crazy. We came here an hour early by accident and decided to play their arcade games. Of the 8 or 9 of them, all would eat our tokens and not work. The only one that worked was the bouncy ball grabber. When we got our tokens back, that was all we could play. They also skimp big time on their heaters. I've never in my life been in a theatre so cold. It's one think of the AC is blasting, it's another thing entirely when they have so little heat that my nose was ice cold. The worst offense was the food was so bad. Like so so bad. I never knew it was possible to have bad pretzel bites before. I've had old ones, stale ones, salty ones. These were flavorless and the cheese was funky. So why did I give them a 2 instead of a 1? First they have coke freestyle which is pretty rare at the movies these days. The other reason is their screens were pretty decent quality with a nice concave to it. My advice for anyone wanting to see a movie, is just go to Plainfield. read more

Decent theatre. Staff are polite. Sound system is good. Slow pace for purchasing tickets. You need to be well ahead of time if you are for a Friday evening movie for tickets. Neatness is average. Show times during weekdays is too early, not many movies after 8 PM on weekdays. Directions to the theaters are too bad , they need a bigger sign on the Main Street. PRICE- prices per person is $8-12 just for a movie ticket. It also depends if your a student/senior and what days you go on and times you arrive. FOOD/SNACKS- snacks and food are pricey! Definitely eat before you go or be willing to go to an early show and eat after. MOVIES- they play many movies at once. They have all the movies that are out. They play the movies for many weeks. CLEAN?- I go here often due to closer to home and gift cards/my student ID. It's cheaper that way. It's always been fairly clean. If you go in right after a movie has got done playing don't expect it to be spotless by any means. If you are seeing a "teen" movie the floors might be a little more messy! read more

We came here on our first night in Terre Haute with my sister-in-law and her boyfriend to see The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Between this theatre and the older AMC next door, these are the only two movie theatres in Terre Haute. They show different movies between the two places, so they cover most of the current releases. However, the theatres do not have 3D or any fancy technology like that. My husband was a bit disappointed at first because he likes to see movies in 3D, but it was more important to be able to go to this movie with his sister that we only get to see twice a year, at best. Because this theatre is a bit newer than the one next door they have stadium style seating, which we prefer. The service here is a little less personable than the one next door, but passable and gets the job done. The screens are not large, but they are good enough, not the smallest I have seen either. The snack bar and bathrooms seem clean and well maintained, although both are pretty standard with no extra frills as well. While it is not the best place I have ever seen a movie, it is servicable for a small town and the prices were certainly cheaper than what we are used to in California, as well. read more

I am a big fan of the movies. I attend on average two to three shows a month. I really appreciate both theatres (the 12 and the 8 Cineplex) as the restrooms are clean as are the showing rooms. Movies virtually always start on time and seldom experience disruptions. There is always an attendant around to attend to any problems. Patrons are pretty good about following the cell phone rules. On one occasion my wife felt that the movie was in poor taste so she left. The manager asked her what was wrong and when she told him, he cheerfully returned her money. Now that's service. read more

I love the movies! I've been here many times never having an issue with management or the show. It's clean and well maintained. The parking lot and theaters have plenty of room. Occasionally I'll splurge for popcorn. It's always great and can't wait to go again soon! read more

This is the worst experience I have ever had at a theatre. The movie was supposed to start at 7:30 at 7:45 we had to go out and ask when the movie was going to start. They forgot to start the movie! Was previously a Kerasotes Showplace, wasn't any better then. They did bring in the AMC famous pretzels, but the employees are not knowledgeable about how to prepare them. Last time it took them 10 minutes to find someone who knew how to make it. AMC stopped offering student discounts on any day that mattered some years ago. Big mistake in a college town like Terre Haute. Some new rule that underage kids are not allowed in R-rated movies even with their parents after 6pm. I can see why no one wants to visit a movie theater anymore after my experiences at this location. Did I mention that its located right next to the local waste treatment facility? Me and my friend went to go see the movie "It." I was 16 so I needed an adult to see it with. My friend was 18 and so we thought she could buy my ticket and get me in. We didn't know that the adult had to be 21 in order for someone who was underage to get in. So without knowing that we went to buy the tickets and the man working said, "I need to see both of your i.d.'s" and i gave him mine and he said, "you can't see this movie" and we just said "oh we thought that if I had an adult I could get in" but it wasn't a big deal and we'll just see a different movie instead. So we bought the tickets for another movie and right before we left the man, in a very rudely way, said, "if you guys sneak into It, then I'm going to kick you out." We were very taken back by it and it was very unnecessary for him to assume we were going to sneak in when we didn't even think about doing that. But that's the only time something like that has ever happened. read more

There is nothing wrong with either of these theaters. We lived in Houston for 35 years and sure some of it in the Woodlands is glitzier but the area is very high income. These are nice theaters, clean, well maintained, and the employees are helpful. My daughter and I go to the movies in Terre Haute often. They have the new releases and 3D also, we enjoy each visit. I also think its great little kids are not allowed into R rated, in most cases I don't think they should be. You never have the kind of disruptions we saw in the bigger cities.
