I want to like this theater. It is convenient and I like their popcorn bucket. However the last several times we have been there it has been hot and humid and the popcorn is stale. In addition they don't show the video of the pre show content. You can hear it but the images aren't projected. I hope they fix their AC soon. For now I will probably go to Grain Valley B&B. read more

Honestly a waste of money and time to go here. The sounds in the theater doesn't give you the movie experience you should be having while watching a movie. You can literally hear people chewing their popcorn while watching a movie. The sound quality was so bad, I left 5 mins into the movie. How the trailers going to be louder than the actual movie ? You don't get to watch trailers since they keep the screen blank until the movie actually starts. Honestly if you really want a good movie experience, go somewhere else. Every visit is a new glaring issue. Their only redeeming quality is consistent movie refunds, though not for snacks or food bought for the movie. Painfully obvious compressed speaker audio sound. Doors regularly left open glaring on the screen, forcing me to get up and close them every other time I go. Marks on every screen distracting from movie. Refunding movie but not money spent on food/drink intended for the movie. Not fully enforcing covering up bright lights from devices, including medical and flash lights, in theater. Occasional AC failure. Incorrect times on Google, times they control, not corrected after being brought to their attention. Routinely misaligned projectors prior to movie showings resulting in content being clipped off-screen. On top of this like all other theaters their food and snack prices are over-inflated while enforcing a no food/snack policy. This theater gets business because it is the only one in town. AMC Warrensburg has made no real effort over the years to solve these repeating issues. read more

We saw "Elemental" in theater #2 and the whole movie we were sweating cause it felt like there was no A/C.

Terrible theater, I remember why it's been a couple of years since I've been here as soon as I get there. The bathroom was so dirty. 3 of the four paper towel holders were out of paper. Only one soap dispenser had soap. And there was water pooled on the counter, so much so that it was dripping. It felt like the air conditioner wasn't even on. It was hot and muggy. And the theater itself wasn't clean. The seats are so outdated and old. Will not be going back there anytime soon. Also we bought online tickets and there isn't even a kiosk we can go to. We had to wait in the concession line to get our tickets. Very inefficient. But the biggest thing was how dirty it was, especially the bathroom. read more

This was a comfy theater. The cashier/ticketing agent was really friendly and even offered assistance without me asking for it (when does that ever happen?) Unfortunately fellow movie goers had some bad habits (a lot of talking during the movie and a dude taking a cell phone call). I know the theater shouldn't have to babysit, but at the same time, I think if they actually duck into the theaters every now and then, it could help people control themselves a little better. I felt like the clean up crew rushed us out of the movie. I like to stay to the end... the very end and I don't really want some teen with a broom standing 2 feet from me and staring a hole through my forehead. read more

Went to the movies to go see DR Strange. Walked into the building and it was 80* in side the theater. I am 7 months pregnant and had water, ice chips, and an icee. My husband asked them if they could turn on the A/C because of how hot the theater was and they said that they have to get corporate to tell them when to turn on the AC. After about an hour in the theater I got overheated and my husband and I had to leave the movie. It was hotter in the theater then it was outside. Absurd. read more

Movie started at 12:30. At 12:20, the doors were still locked and a crowd of over 30 people were hovering in the cold outside. We could all see employees standing around and working in the concession stand area, but they kept just staring at us. One lady attempted to call the phone number to make sure the theater was actually going to open. We could hear the phone ringing inside the theater but none of the employees would answer it. Once inside, we had only 10 minutes to get out tickets and food before the 12:30 movies started. I attempted to pay with Fandango gift certificates and was told they don't take them. I pointed out to the girl at the cash register that there is a Fandango sticker on their door. This was our first time visiting. If we experience something similar again, I think it might be worth the drive to go to Lee's Summit. read more

Just wow. Bought my tickets ahead of time to not wait in line. Still had to wait in line because they had no kiosk to pick prepaid tickets up at. Only two drink machines. Also paid for specific seats as it is supposed to be RESERVED seating. Go in and some people are already sitting in our seats. Apparently they were told that it was first come first served. It's new, so it has that going for it... I think Carmike is the runt of major theater chains. The quality deteriorates quickly... so who knows how long this review will be valid. I like the theater, it's in good shape. It has stadium seating, digital projection, and they keep their movies turned up nice and loud (maybe too loud?). They generally play only the most mainstream films, and thanks to 3D, most movies are doubled up, so expect half the films of other (bigger) theaters. You have about two weeks once a movie is released to see it before it's outta there. Get a popcorn bucket for $15 and go often (especially "Stimulus" Tuesdays). And if you are a student, don't forget to show your ID card for a discount. The parking lot can get crowded and be sure to GO SLOW entering it... they did a great job at helping your car bottom out if you go to fast. read more

The manager in charge on December 17th, 2016 is incredibly unprofessional and immature. S/he displayed very poor management skills when decided to 1) open late 2) stay closed for the day 3) open later 4) close early. Not only did the manager make these terrible judgement calls, s/he proceeded to get into arguments with multiple customers on the Facebook page. (And then, later in the evening, deleted most of the comments and blocked the disgruntled customers) I found it very disrespectful that s/he continuously mentioned how the janitors were working, but that the entire business needed to be closed down because of concerns for safety... I will recognize that there were warnings to avoid travel early in the morning, but our entire town was clear, and there was absolutely no justification for closing the theater down. The manager's only justification was that they lived 30 minutes away and went in a ditch on the way to work... My biggest complaint here is that an accident can happen to anyone at any time... How can a business operate successfully if it shuts down because one employee is unable to make it to work? If the janitors were able to get to the building, unlock the building, and work, then why couldn't the business open without this manager's presence? I am also flabbergasted by the decision to close early, after all the hassle... The manager's remark on the Facebook page was that s/he "didn't even know how they were getting home"... OKAY?! How in the world is that the customers' problem? We were able to leave the theater, go shopping, pick up our daughter from the sitters, go home, and then I even ran back to Walmart to go grocery shopping - and, please note, Walmart was just as busy as they always are on Saturday evenings. What is Carmike's plan going forward? Should the customers have to wonder if this location is going to be open or closed every time it snows? Is the theater going to shut down every time a manager can't make it to their shift? read more

I like the new Carmike, the stadium seating & big plush chairs are a big improvement over its old location. Concessions are too expensive, but really, when is that not so for a movie theater? If only they would mix in a few more indy films with the wide-release blockbusters, it'd be perfect. read more

Poor management policies...we always buy the popcorn bucket and take an extra so we can share the bucket. Seldom do we get the second free bucket. Three weeks ago we were told we could not bring in an extra bucket unless it was the one from the previous year. Okay, no problem. The next week we follow the policy we were just told the previous week, and were rudely told not to bring in any extra buckets. Make a policy and follow through...dang now I've got to bring in a Wal-Mart bag to divide our popcorn! The rudeness displayed was over the top. If you don't want people to purchase a bucket just quit selling them. Next year's policy?! At Christmas all someone had to say was not to bring in an extra bucket. It's a chain movie theater that's relatively new so it's nice and clean. Average picture and sound quality. The only issue I have with this place is the same issue I have with every other chain movie theater...the freaking commercials! I get it, they gotta make money any way they can, cause $5 small sodas don't make them enough I guess. I have actually timed it multiple times here at this particular Carmike. The last movie I saw was Civil War, and I started the timer on my phone the minute the listed showtime was....32 minutes later Civil War finally started. That's right, 32 minutes. (I have also timed 26 minutes, and 23 minutes before) This is honestly why we generally just go to the theater in Sedalia mostly. Granted, it's not as nice looking, but it's locally owned so you get trailers, and the movie....That's it. You don't have to sit through all the same commercials you see on TV at home. Basically, if you're going to go see a movie here and want to make plans for afterwards. Just add 30 minutes to the movie run time, and you'll be ok. read more

Not very well kept. Floors and bathrooms are very dirty. Counter tops cluttered with open boxes, cleaning supplies and clipboards.

The last three times I've been to this theatre it's been extremely cold or extremely hot. Today I took the family out to see the Captain America movie and it's every bit of 80 degrees in the theatre. Also the sound wasn't that good it was very low and you couldn't eat popcorn and hear the movie at the same time. Spoke to the manager and she stated that the repair HVAC guy wasn't available on the weekend. Which is BS they will come out but the initial fee upfront is doubled. This small venue is decent considering it's the only one in town. But every time I watch a movie, I can hear audio from the theatre next to us. I don't know why, but they'll leave the doors to each theatre propped open while the films are playing. So while children are with their parents to see some kids movie, they get to hear the explicit language coming from the adult comedy or screams from the horror flick across the hall. Also, the theatre is often really cold which can be annoying during the summertime. Concession prices are high but they give free refills for large popcorn or sodas. And if you come often, you can save $$ by purchasing the annual bucket (refills are $4 as opposed to $8.75 for a large popcorn). read more

Great place to catch a movie, the seats are great (stadium seats) the quality wasn't all that good, I mean it say DTS but it sounded like I was watching it in my living room...we all know the struggles of candy and popcorn prices and that's why i gave it 4 stars. read more

Comfortable & a nice enough theater to bring friends and family to enjoy a good movie.

This place is ok but when my family came in with me to see a movie that is ok with meaning of the story but the theater is so cold my dad had to go back outside of the movie theater to ask them to turn down the AC three times. But they didn't turn it down. It was freezing my mom took a picture of my dad with my moms coat over his nose. We all were freezing. Over all I think it's ok if you want to go doing the summer with AC blasting inside the theater. This is a warning for all people to come prepare. If you want to see a movie in the winter and the theater is cold then bring a heavy jacket with you and a cap to over your head. Here is what you are going to get at this AMC Theater. 25-35 minute previews before the movie starts. Fill your own beverage out of 1 touchscreen machine (this is maddening! People cant figure out how to touch the screen to select their drink. People get multiple drinks and you can spend lots of time in line. I no longer get drinks). Popcorn...great idea but horrible execution. They fill your bag or bucket w popcorn....you NOW have to butter it yourself on a small condiment bar while juggling the rest of your items. The bar is always messy and gross. It would be better if it was a self-serve popcorn stand and have the butter right there with it. I no longer get popcorn. The prices are outrageous for any type of snacks. People bring their own stuff now. I saw one family pull out a complete Subway meal one night a few months back. Who can really blame them?? Have fun getting tickets. Unless you go in at a slow time, it takes forever. Between the old locals who have ZERO speed in their bodies and the college students that cant add, it can be painfully slow. Whoever planned their business/customer efficiency model here clearly didnt know what they were doing. Its pretty ghetto. Here are a few plusses...they accept military id whereas Sedalia does not. The theater itself is actually rather cozy. The chairs are comfy with good cup holders. There is plenty of seating. The sound is typically really good. I guess it has to be if you are going to sit through a half of an hour of nothing but previews AFTER the movie was supposed to start. read more

Great and only movie theater in Warrensburg. Ticket prices are decent compared to big city theaters. Concessions is where they really make their money. $4.50 for a small bag of gummies. My only complaint is, and yes I've asked personally and via email, is that their A/C unit runs at the same temperature throughout the entire year. So it's 30 degrees outside and almost 60 degrees inside. During the summer be prepared to bring a sweater and during the fall, winter and spring bring a blanket. read more

This theater is pretty nice for the small town of Warrensburg. Nothing really special about it. Nice seating, big screens, good sound....BUT....Not really a knock on this theater in particular (applies to most these days), but when I go to see a movie that's showtime is 6:30PM, I expect a few previews, and maybe get into the feature by 6:40-6:45......not 7:05! 35 minutes of commercials and previews? Really? It's pretty ridiculous. Unless you care about having the best seats, I wouldn't bother even leaving the house until the actual show time of the movie. You'll still make it in time to get drinks, find a seat, and catch the reminder to turn off your phone before the movie starts. read more

We saw Star Wars the Force Awakens in 3D today. It was absolutely FREEZING. We asked several times if something could be done about the lack of heat. The staff said they would have to speak with the manager. Nothing was done. People were huddled in their coats in the theatre. If the theatre can't be properly heated/cooled then they should be closed. At the very least, a sign should be posted at the ticket counter so I can decide BEFORE I spend my money if I want to freeze for 2 plus hours. Terrible management. read more

Went to see Orient Express on 11/10/2017. Felt like I was in the movie due to the fact that it was ice cold in the theater. Literally felt like the doors were open and the wind was blowing in. I guess it's an improvement over the times that I was in the theater during the summer and it was hot. This is an intermittent problem at this theater--it's not always too cold or too hot, but still a problem. read more

The seats are really comfortable. There is a student discount for tickets which is nice. The concessions are just ridiculously priced as is the case with most movie theaters. It was $5 for a small bottle of water and the popcorn prices approach $10. The movie screens are really nice and the whole place is very clean. Decent new movie theater. read more

I attended a movie on Saturday afternoon with a friend. I know this theatre is ALWAYS cold so I always bring a jacket. This time was no exception we literally were freezing throughout the movie. Mentioning the cold temperature has done nothing, so I just try to be prepared. After the previews were over our screen went black and the lights came on. I went out and advised an employee. 30 minutes later after watching the previews AGAIN our movie finally came on. We got no apology, no explanation, nothing. read more
