Parking can fill up early and not too many handicapped spots so dropping of my mom at the door was next best thing. Once inside, so many smiling patrons around. We headed to the bar, to checkout drink and food offerings. The Color Purple color changing cups held drinks. We tried: Frozen Sangria, Frozen guava lemonade (NA) and Vieux Carré cocktail. All were delicious! Adrian and LaVera were helpful and patient bartenders. There were a few vendor tables to checkout, including a The Black Repertory Theatre of Kansas City promoting the upcoming productions. And for the most interactive fun, a tablet Photo Booth station, where the resulting picture had play brand border. There was an air of excitement, enthusiasm and friendly people all around. Our seats in the Terrace were very nice. Comfy seats, aisles with amble markers and space to pass as long as you stood up and the elevation of slopes for tiered seating was perfect, whereas we had a clear sight line to the stage. This made the acoustics and sound have a great quality and clarity. The entire cast was phenomenal. The well known story translated well onto stage. The drama, tragedy, triumphs, comedic timing was felt in every word, lyrics and various musical scores from entire company.

We have season tickets and love all of their shows!!…read more The company is very talented and every show is unique with a new cast and so many talented people involved in every product production from the people that build the sets to the costumes and make up people and those who run the lights and sound. This latest production of Emma, which was staged at UMKC was one of the funniest shows I've ever seen! My wife agreed. It was a very interesting adaptation of Emma from Jane Austen. They also perform shows at Copaken Theater in the H&R Block building. Both locations are wonderful and we've seen such incredible shows as Brokeology, and Lady Day to name a couple. If you can attend a KC Rep production, I highly recommend it. We love supporting this theater because for one show every season they take it on the road and perform it for free at several locations all around the metro. They believe theater is for everyone not just people of means. That makes me love this company even more.

There was comedy for adults as well as the little ones. The 21 month old on my lap had an amazing time and was able to stay entertained the entire hour! I couldn't believe how enthralled she was with the show. I highly recommended taking kids of all ages. Worth the price for a fun, unique, and engaging activity.

The theater is very small, but the environment is one created with love for entertaining children. The artwork and the sets seem to be created by their small staff and volunteers, from what I gather from their website. The puppets are brightly colored and the "acting" is what makes it fun. Nothing like hearing puppets whistle and sing show tunes along with an Italian folk story. Get there early for a photo with Oscar the Grouch in the lobby! You can also buy 'make your own' puppet kits for a nominal fee. *Another bonus is they offer discounts if you are a member of KCPT (PBS affilitate in KC).

We reserved a lane and had Jeremy assisting us so we halfway knew what we were doing. Jeremy taught us everything from how and where to stand, how to hold it, and taught us games to play. He even helped us remember to take pictures and videos, which we usually realize after the fact that we should have done that. Super fun experience!

I was familiar with both shows, which made the situation doubly frustrating. During Spamalot we talked to an usher during intermission. We were seated toward the front, and she said maybe the problem was that we were too close. It was a shame, because it looked like a great show, and I'm familiar with the songs, but if you can't hear the words - it definitely loses something. But during Little Shop of Horrors we sat in the middle section, and the sound was not one bit better! I talked to the House Manager, who didn't have anything helpful to offer at all. Now this theater is offering Young Frankenstein, a musical I really love. But I hate to shell out another $30 per ticket for a show I can't hear. I'm astonished at the 5-Star reviews here. What's the secret, guys? Is there some secret place in the theater where you can actually hear the shows?

The lobby is dark but comfortable with worn couches (like a living room). Everyone was quite friendly. The play was ok, not my favorite but this is a review of the space and not the play. The bathrooms are upstairs and single use so during intermission there was quite a line which I could see being an issue at times. The Quality Hill Playhouse (and its kindred spirit, the Chestnut Fine Arts Center in Olathe) put on full seasons of shows featuring the best in American popular music. Tonight I went with my family to celebrate some birthdays by seeing "Lets Do It," an evening devoted to the lyrics of the immortal Cole Porter. It was de-lightful, de-licious and de-lovely! The theater is small, so all the seats are good. It has been refurbished recently, and looks very nice! The theater staff were very kind and accommodating -- we had originally bought tickets for the Wednesday night show, but my elderly parents were nervous about going out because of the severe weather we were having that day. The theater exchanged the tickets for tonight and, because of the severe weather issue, waived their usual $5 per ticket exchange fee. That was a nice thing to do! This was the final show of the season. Next year's season will feature shows highlighting Noël Coward and Gertrude Lawrence and the songs of Rodgers and Hart, Comden and Green, and Kander and Ebb. (Kander is originally from K.C.) See their website for specific details, or for subscription information. The shows are very well done, with excellent selections of songs and thoroughly professional performances. There's parking available in the garage of which the theater is actually a part (it occupies the street level of the building). It's usually $6. So go and enjoy!!!

I have seen 100s of non-professional theater…read moreproductions over 50 years and volunteered as a stage manager for many of them, and this production has the finest acting I have ever experienced. The actors, director and the other tech people had a wonderful work of literature to present, and they did it proud. I also see many professional theater productions, including in New York and London, and this production equaled all that I have ever seen. There were about 30 people in the audience during my Sunday afternoon performance, but the actors gave their all, as if they were playing in a major theater on Broadway. This is probably the 8th production I've seen at OCT, and they have all been top quality performances.
