Been to a lot of movie theaters, but this one is a major down grade. Sure they have nice chairs and assigned seating, but the screens are smaller then most, and the sound quality is bad. I hear people eating and even breathing with the movie is at its loudest. every other theater ive been to have amazing surround sound that you can feel and hear. this theater sounds like they have a tv sound bar hooked up to the screens. Also, when you get popcorn, it taste like it was made in the morning and then given out in the evening to customers. the times i have been there, there was no fresh popcorn being made, just getting whats in the popcorn maker already. read more

The only game in town to see new movies. And at least there's recliners and a bar and assigned seating. It ain't much but as Nicole (Kidman) says: "we come to this place...for magic" Idk. But in the "Magic City" that (allegedly) is Minot, it's honestly magical that is a theater with mostly current movies. Staff is generally nice tho. Would love to see more events and stuff. read more

The recliners were very clean. Clean to touch and visual. Sometimes after someone spills popcorn or pop it can be not so clean but the theater was clean like it was freshly cleaned before our movie. Theater 5. Bought our seats online through the app a few a days before. Seen movie in 3D. Not a bad seat in the house with their fully reclining chairs. Front row or back row they could all work for me. 6' tall and still enough back support to keep my head on the backrest. The chairs fully recline with leg rests and my head is in a comfortable position not like a ford vehicle and my chin is on my chest when using the headrest. Price for popcorn and pop like all theaters is too much but the popcorn is great and you can get an extra box to separate your popcorn into 2 containers. This helps to easily add butter and salt and shake it evenly across all the popcorn; not just on the top two handfuls. Sliced Jalapeños would be nice as a free side to the expensive popcorn. I didn't ask for them so not sure if it's an option, but it's not out next to the butter like I've seen at other theaters. read more

An absolute 0. This is the filthiest absolute disgusting theater I have ever been in. Not once have I been here have they swept or cleaned up spills or any trash. It is always absolutely gross like don't touch the drink machine and scary to grab a cup. This time the straw finally broke when we checked in and they had NO popcorn. I LOVE GOING TO THE MOVIES, but Minot, your AMC Theater at Dakota Square Mall is definitely bringing down the movie night vibe.... The most visible offense is the lack of cleanliness. In the restrooms, every stall door and wall are smeared with greasy butter (I hope) hands and fingerprints. Looks like it has been weeks since any employee has stepped foot in there. The theaters themselves are not cleaned frequently and leave you wading through and knocking over old drinks/popcorn buckets /candy just in an effort to find your seat. read more

What in the world is the management and workers doing here at this theater?! They really should shut down and deep clean. Popcorn and trash all over the floor, soda/condiment area out of stock and dirty. No ice in the soda machines and out of half the soda options. Seats covered in grease/butter and trash. Bathroom floor covered in goodness knows what, to the point that your feet stick to the floor. Good luck finding a stall with toilet paper. Screen 7 has the worst picture quality, super blurry and dark so avoid movies played on that screen if possible. Also AC in 7 seems to be out as it feels like a sauna. Management needs to stock items correctly and make sure the facility is clean. For the price you pay per ticket, people shouldn't have to sit in a trashed mess. read more

Wanted to kill some time and see a movie while in Bismarck. Looked up the address and my maps took me to what looked like abandoned mall next to a hotel with a water slide. Drove around the entire mall (which had a few open stores on the other side) but no sign of a theater. About to give up and go back to my hotel... but I decided to call. The boy on the phone said "we are in the mall"! Okay.... where do I enter? He told me to enter by Scheels. Needless to say... this place needs a sign! If they have one somewhere.... they need more!! As for the theater, it was a bit old and the seats where a little uncomfortable, but it didn't smell and the picture/sound was not a problem. So it wasn't near the worst experience I've had at a theater... I'm giving it 3 stars... but put up some damn signs!! read more

Bathrooms are the nastiest bathrooms in town. No ticket counter ever open. Stand in a 20 minute wait to get tickets and concessions.

Filthy. Staffed by a gaggle of teenage boys who can barely dress themselves and also have no idea how to clean or work. The entire theatre is sticky and the bathrooms look like they haven't been cleaned in *weeks*. The toilets had urine all over them and the floors were sticky with spilled pop and dried toilet paper. The mirrors were dirty and none of the towel dispensers worked. It was bad. Whoever manages this place needs to be replaced ASAP. The theatre seats were sticky,even though they had recently been replaced. I can't believe this place still makes money considering how dirty it was. Absolute worst customer service ever. Their Facebook page talks about being polite and courteous, but they don't even bother to answer simple question. I called a hundred times, no answer. I messaged on messenger, no reply. I emailed, no reply. Like most establishments today, they don't care about the people that keep them in business. Let me begin by stating that I have never felt compelled to leave a review on Yelp in my entire life. With that being said, the AMC theater in Minot, ND is absolutely the most disappointing movie experience I've ever had. From the moment I walked up to scan my tickets (couldn't scan because scanner was broken), the complete lack of upkeep and cleanliness was alarming. Stains, popcorn, soda, and various debris absolutely littered the entire floor of the lobby (purchased tickets for first showing of the day). I had serious reservations about ordering any refreshments. I skipped purchasing any popcorn, candy, or soda and went straight to our screen. I walked upon a few staff members actively eating snacks and was told our screen was straight ahead. I was in for a treat because the dirtiness didn't stop in the lobby. We found our seats and noticed what was probably weeks of dried sticky soda covering the floors leading to our seats. It was humorous to hear our footsteps as we located our seats. The screen had a faint black line directly in the middle of the screen from top to bottom that could not be missed. The screen had dirt and debris smeared or thrown on to it that "added" an additional distraction to the movie experience. I ultimately decided to go back to the lobby to order refreshments. Whilst filling up my drink, I couldn't help but notice how the touchscreen was completely covered in layers of filth and fingerprints. Side note, the workers managed to spell out "KFC" with magnets on the refrigerator behind the counter. This establishment is in desperate need of leadership and management. Whoever is in charge needs to be removed immediately and replaced with someone who values the customer/theater experience. Just because AMC has no competition in Minot doesn't mean they can throw any sort of company pride and customer service out of the window. read more

AMC should be embarrassed that they slapped reclining seats and a bar on a run down theater and called it a renovation. The projectors are ancient, the picture quality is super dim, and if they're showing a movie in 3d, it's blurry and flat. The picture doesn't even fit on the screen in any theaters. Some theaters The picture is too small, some the picture is bleeding over on the curtains. The screens are so run down. There are tears on some and icee stains on others. Every single screen is filthy and dusty. The sound is embarrassingly bad. Oh, but you get to sit on a reclining seat, so I guess that makes everything ok? Nope. Even the seats are filthy and greasy, and there's a ton of popcorn and trash behind the seats. You pay a premium to see a movie here. I paid less money to see an imax movie in Minneapolis compared to seeing a movie at this run down dump. It's far cheaper at the Grand Theater in Bismarck, and they have excellent picture and sound quality! Why are we paying so much for such a dump? This is the only first run theater in town, so AMC must be thinking "why spend money to make a better experience when they'll come here anyway? How else will they see new movies?" For me it's worth driving 100 miles to Bismarck every time I want to see a movie, because at least I won't feel like I'm going to catch a disease using the bathroom there. I used the bathroom during my last visit at AMC and it was completely trashed, and it was a slow Wednesday. If you don't want to spend more money on an already expensive ticket buying it online with those "convenience fees", you have to stand in line at the concession stand. They don't even have a dedicated ticket line anymore. The box office they used years ago is just a really awful looking storage for random boxes. You have to wait in line while the one or 2 workers take 5-10 minutes per customer trying to sign every single customer up for a stubs account. I know it's not their fault for being short handed, but the managers can at least try to help out more. Speaking of managers, the general manager, a balding guy named Kevin I think, is sarcastic and mean to both customers and employees. He stands back and straight up insults both customers and employees. He isn't even quiet about it. It's no wonder they can't keep help with a general manager like that. AMC needs to get rid of this guy, ASAP. The quality of the place took a sharp nosedive after I started seeing the guy around. The concessions are overpriced, which is a complaint every theater deals with, but everything is so stale and bland, it's not worth the price. The soda from the freestyle machines tastes gross, probably because it hasn't been cleaned in years. The only reason this theater is still operational is because it is the only first run theater in town. If another chain decided to open up here, and they should, this AMC would be closed by the end of the year. I doubt I'll be back anytime soon. read more

In every seat unless you buy your tickets 24 hours in advance you have to crane your neck to see the screen. Also they closed the restrooms in my section of the theater so if I have to pee, I have to run to the opposite side and miss half the movie. The snacks were stale and overpriced. They are still going through branding to AMC. The best thing at this theater is the Staff! Exceptionally friendly and ensure to do a good job. It's can be a bit of a maze going to all the theaters -they don't have the reclining seats, but the theater is clean and sound it good. This theater has no signage and almost no one working there The facility is old and decrepit. The halls and carpet are dirty and smell like body odor and urine. The bathrooms are worse (if that's even possible). The theaters have decent projection and sound, but the seats are old and no recline. The popcorn was fresh, the cherry coke was good, & the cameo combo (popcorn & drink) was only $5. The theater our movie was in was small, but nice. Picture & sound quality were good. This theater is an insult to Minot. It is so gross, from the front entrance to the rest rooms to the theaters themselves. The projector bulbs are dim, the seats are uncomfortable and worn, the sound is terrible, the picture rarely fills up the entire screen, and the overhead lights never dim completely before the show. To top it off, the movie selection is terrible, and basically they just show the 3 loudest action movies currently vomited out by Hollywood on multiple screens. But if you're lucky, they might also be showing one of those weird low-budget Christian flicks produced by the radical right, which only seem to come to small towns like Minot. Terrible, awful theater. If a Marcus theater came to town, this place would be out of business in a week. read more

This place is horrible! The movie selection sucks, very minimal all the time. Zero service, I've been there 2x for big movie weekends and only 3 people working concessions. Was there 2 weeks ago and it was still the same, I've waited as long as 35mins for snacks and drinks. Buy your tickets ahead of time as they sell out. Have tried twice now to go to kid appropriate movies - anything PG or less - and both times have been sold out even when the movie has been out for 3 weeks! Very frustrating for a parent, not to mention the disappointed kids. We split up this last time, so one was in line for tickets and one at the concessions. The concessions did not list their prices. Found out the movie was sold out before we got to order, so didn't get a chance to see how the prices were. I guess if you have to ask, it is more than you want to pay. When I checked to see when it was playing at this theater I was surprised to see that the #2 movie in the nation wasn't showing. This movie theater is the worst place to see a movie in town. I showed up early to see a larger movie release. Something the theater should've been prepared for. Waited for 40 minutes in line. Maybe I didn't get there early enough on a Tuesday, you might be thinking, maybe I should just see a later Showtime. Nope. Damn place closes in an hour so there latest showing for a movie in the summertime is 7pm. What God awful moron decided their highest grossing film should only be available till 7pm? But movies that have been out for weeks and with horrible reviews are out later. Not much later mind you. But hey, sucks to suck. This is the only theater in town playing relevant movie titles. You've got no choice besides pirating your films. So enjoy uncle carlos's sketchy camcorder under the jacket version of whatever you wanted to see but couldn't because this shit theater was too incompetent to accommodate you. Don't get me started on the overpriced food. Pretty stupid that the standard for movie treats in smuggling your goodies in a bag or purse.
