Came here in May 2026....my first time in a movie theater since December 31, 2019. Living in NYC, going to a regular movie theater is a nightmare...people on their phones, talking, smoking cigarettes and weed, babies crying. I just stopped going since even Alamo stopped enforcing cell phone usage. But I really wanted to see "The Sheep Detectives" and I saw that there weren't too many seats sold for an early Friday show, so my husband and I visited here and it wasn't bad! I didn't order tickets in advance but used the kiosk when we walked in. I was also able to order food at the kiosk and then pick it up at the concession stand. Although every employee I saw there looks like they are in high school, the place seemed to be pretty well run. It was tidy, the soda/salt/napkins areas were organized and well stocked. The restrooms were a little outdated but they were clean and most everything worked. The theater was clean and the seats were in good shape....no obvious tears or sagging or anything. Sound and temperature were perfect. There were probably about a dozen other people in the theater and nobody used their phones or decided to have an in depth conversation. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised after reading some of the other reviews. I imagine if I saw a film that wasn't designed to attract old softies like me, my experience might have been different but I would go back here as long as it wasn't too crowded. read more

My first and last time in this dump. All theaters are open at least 10am. Had an upcoming movie to find that the theater was closed. It's no wonder people dont go here. Another couple pulled up for a 12pm movie to find that it was closed. I miss criterion cinemas in New haven. Ended up going to southbury. read more

The last time I had gone here was probably about 1998 - and it looks the exact same inside as it did back then. Thankfully the tech has been upgraded a bit. My husband and I went to see a movie in the Dolby theatre here - which is one of AMC's premium offerings. Due to technical difficulties the movie was restarted about three times with no sound before everything started working properly. Once the movie started running, it was fine. I was seeing the movie on a $5 ticket from T-Mobile and my husband has A-list so we didn't bother asking for any sort of vouchers or coupons but it seemed like most of the people who were in the theater did pursue that avenue. read more

Because of internet we couldn't get the half price on Tuesday at Danbury theater. The guy from the customer service he was so rude, he said he can charge only full price not half price. so many customers was leaving because of that internet issues on 5/5/26. Higher label management should look after this kind of situation. Internet issues is not customer sacrifice . If continue goes like that Danbury AMC theaters will close one day just like Bridgeport theaters . Because no one should go to see the movie anymore just like us. read more

Left feeling like I needed a tetanus shot and a shower... If I hadn't already bought tickets for my family, I would've turned around at the front doors. They looked like someone let a bunch of preschoolers run wild with butter finger paint. The concession stand? A health code violation waiting to happen. Popcorn everywhere, sticky surfaces, and whatever was going on behind that counter made me question my life choices and the safety of those snacks. We waded down the popcorn-covered hallway to our theater. At least the movie looked and sounded great (which is literally the only reason this isn't a 1-star review). That said, we did sit through 40 minutes of previews first... yes, forty. And then... the bathroom. I don't know if it was poop, mold, or both, but I wasn't sticking around to investigate. More advertisements than youtube.com. One half hour of forced advertising before the movie started. The movie was listed to start at 3:45 PM, so I got there 10 minutes early to pickup a bucket of popcorn. I went and sat in the theater and for the next 15 minutes before the movie started, it was one commercial after another (with several repeats). Then it was 10 minutes of previews followed by another 10 minutes of ads. Unless the AMC theater has some art movie or special showing, I'll wait for it to come onto Prime or Netflix. read more

Went on New Year's Eve for Stranger Things. Based on reviews, I was expecting a dirty, run-down place, but that was not my experience at all. We were in Theater 15, and it was clean and in good repair. They did a special free tickets, but had ot buy a $20 food voucher. Made the concessions line forever, so we skipped it so we wouldn't miss the movie. So I can't speak to the concessions. Aside from the occasional smell of a mint vape, it was a great experience. read more

I don't say this from being mean or hatred as this was my movie going places for years as a kid. However this theater as declined in quality and does not fill up to the same amount of power and quality as other theaters in Southbury or even in West Hartford. As those theaters cost way more but offer way better quality for the price. I really don't know if this theater can rebound from where it once was. I can't however in good faith give this any stars lower as I have such a past here. Improve quality and upgrade theaters and people will come, that's really it. read more

I'm not sure what's going on with this theater, but it has been getting considerably worse week after week. Only a couple of the soda machines have ice, making the line for the few available machines incredibly long. Additionally, most of the soda machines do not have all the options available. Today, there was nothing besides popcorn. Despite the limited options, the lines at the concession stand stretched out the door. The theater is seriously understaffed, and I feel for the young employees who have to handle all the complaints. Furthermore, they've switched to small paper straws, which makes it incredibly difficult for kids to enjoy an Icee (when the machine actually works) since the straws are so thin. I don't know if this theater is under new management or if the old management simply doesn't care, but if the service continues on this downward spiral, I foresee a lot of people looking for a new place to watch movies. read more

I took all my grandkids to see a movie there a few weeks ago. This place was disgustingly filthy. The food court was sickening. Not all soda machines working only one of them gave ice. Only one butter machine worked. all table tops were filthy including the floors. There were many workers there just hanging around the center together. I will NEVER go to this dump again. Went to an afternoon show on a Sunday. Concession line took about 20-25 minutes. Only two people working at concessions with a constant long line. Many of the food items were not available with the candy racks 1/2 empty. Got popcorn - no salt anywhere. One of the butter dispensers was either empty or broke. After the movie went to the restroom. Some stall doors were broken. No soap anywhere at the sink - the one soap dispenser had been ripped off the wall. read more

I tried to see Superman this Saturday morning there were 25 minutes of commercials and previews. What a waste of time. But most importantly when the movie started, there was something very wrong with the audio. The surround sound wasn't working. You could barely hear the dialogue from the front. My complaint to the front office, they didn't seem to care. There's a real reason why people watch movies at home these days. It was a terrible experience. And I won't be going back. And that's a real shame. I would've enjoyed seeing Superman on the big screen. read more

Nice theater location in Danbury CT. Ample parking and fairly big theater with 16 auditoriums. Unfortunately, no concessions due to new COVID regulations...but safety is more important. Social distancing with no more than 40% capacity in theaters, everyone required to wear a face mask...plenty of hand sanitizing wipes. IMAX was good to watch WW 1984 opening weekend. Sound quality was good and no need to worry about others sitting next to you given social distancing...awesome. Interesting that Dolby was right across from IMAX - will have to check it out next time. Earlier movie times are 30% off which is great. Restrooms at each end of the theater... Will be back again... read more

Fine for a matinee on a off day, disaster during evening weekend showings. Severely understaffed kids struggling to hold the place together. Filth from the entrance, right up to your seat. We wanted to see the new MI-7 Dead Reckoning and because of nearby sell outs and timing, we ended up booking at the AMC Danbury. We have enjoyed many movies at the AMC Trumbull and figured it would be at or near that standard. We were wrong on many levels. Ticket purchase online was smooth but slightly annoyed for $1 upcharge for "premium sightline." And the "convenience fee" pushed three movie tickets to almost $50! The times that worked for us were in the "IMAX CINEMA REIMAGINED" theater. More on that later. On arrival, it was an easy check it with the e-ticket that was helpfully delivered by text message. The line at the concession was short and staff there was courteous and efficient. Now, the beginning of the end. On our way to our seats, there was plenty of trash on the floor and the rubbish bins were full/overflowing. We decided to stop the bathrooms before the show. In a word: disgusting. Once you moved past the smell, you saw the blocked toilet, the mess on the floor, and the overflowing trash can. The "family" bathroom adjacent to the men's room was also in a state of chaos. It was hard to tell when the men's bathrooms were last cleaned. The theater itself was ok. However, the so-called IMAX REIMAGINED did not have the reclining seats which have become the standard in movie theaters. Also, I question whether this was truly IMAX or just marketed as such because portions of the film seemed to be cut off (MI-7 is marketed as being shot in 65mm) so there seemed to be a disconnect there. We went to the movies, in part, because it was a hot and rainy summer day. Everyone knows that movies theaters are nice and cool and were bastions of temperature controlled goodness before air conditioning became ubiquitous. This theater was the opposite of goodness. No discernible air flow before, during or after the film. Perhaps not as hot and sticky as outside but simply not comfortable. The air was stale and it distracted from the movie watching experience. Finally, we decided to speak with management to politely share our concerns so other patrons would not suffer in the future. We spoke to the person who identified himself as the manager. He did not offer his name (no name tag), he did not express any concern about these issues, and he did not apologize for the negative experience. He simply asked for the theater number and the location of the bathroom. Customer service 101 teaches that a small bit of acknowledgement and a sincere apology (even if brief) can cure even the most negative experiences, this manager did nothing. It is for times like these that I wish I could give zero stars. And had I checked yelp beforehand, I might have made a different choice as the reviews here echo my experience. (Sorry no photos. You'd think they'd try harder to make it a great experience, but you'd be wrong. Staffed mostly by twenty-somethings, this is not the most positive movie-going experience. If AMC wants to bring people back to their theatres, they need to do better. MUCH BETTER. The prices are high, trash litters the floor, and the concession stand is limited, overly expensive, and kind of sad. AMC seems to STILL be clueless that they need to give people a reason to get off of their couches to re-participate in the movie-going experience. And this isn't that reason. In fact, the ONLY reason to go here is to see something in IMAX. You can't easily replicate a similar experience at home, and for that, it's worth the trip. Otherwise... wait for your fave app to carry your movie and watch it at home on your TV. read more

This place has gone so far below average it's insane. First show of the day in Dolby and it was filthy, so clearly no one cleaned from the night before. Let us sitting in the dark with the screen off. So understaffed that we sat for twenty minutes before someone got up to tell them the movie still wasn't on. Another 10 min had to get up again. They turned on the lights and started the movie with no trailers, then left the lights on! Had to get up again to tell them to shut them off. Absolutely vile, a true health code violation. Visited this past weekend and essentially had to wade through trash lining the floor of the main atrium, theater and bathroom. Our reserved seats had drinks and popcorn stuffed in the crevices and had clearly not been cleaned out in several hours (if I'm being generous - it was probably longer). I understand the theater was likely inundated with guests over Thanksgiving weekend, but there was no excuse for the conditions of this place. I have truly never been more grossed out at a movie-going experience or at any place honestly where I had to pay money to get in the door. read more

If I could give this place less than 1 star, I would. First experience walking in the door, was the women's room, ABSOLUTELY disgusting. No toilet paper, poop on one toilet seat, unflushed toilets and wads of paper towels in some toilets. Did you want anything other than popcorn, that's too bad because they didn't have anything. Boxes all over the counters of the concession stand, popcorn all over the floor and a bunch of teenagers standing around talking about a sign they were going to post about being out of popcorn and swearing every other word. If you were lucky enough to get popcorn, hope you didn't want butter because there was none to be found. The parking lot was shockingly full so we had to park in the back lot and I guess no one paid for the garbage because it looks like it's been months since anything has been picked up. I did you all a favor by not taking pictures of the toilets, a woman got to the desk before me to complain and after she walked away 2 young girls went in to check the bathroom then came out and stood there talking and didn't go in to even try to clean it. After our movie, we attempted to go in the family bathroom right outside theater 13 and it too was disgusting and the toilet full of paper towels. The women's room down that was was no better than the one at the entrance, 2 stalls with toilet paper, the rest were empty, tampon applicators in the toilet, unflushed toilets and non working sinks. Water all over the floors. The girl in the video is talking about chikfila shakes saying 'I don't know what the f*ck they put in their milkshakes' keep in mind, my 5 yr old is standing there listening to this. I just got a movie pass and hate that my closest AMC is always so unclean. I've been in there with popcorn still all over the floors, buttery seats and armrests, smells. Does anyone actually clean these seats?? I did the Dolby cinema recently and the seats were all shifted to an angle also. It's just a shame that there's no upkeep. read more
