My favorite place to catch a solo movie. The Dolby and IMAX theaters are top tier. The outside lobby isn't too shabby but that is not a reflection of what it looks like inside the Dolby and IMAX theaters. Trust me, you'll feel like you're literally sitting inside the movie. The Dolby theater has high walls so you won't even realize there's other people sitting behind you. The IMAX theater has heated seats just in case you forgot to bring a blanket. The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is because the lobby area and the other theater rooms are pretty mid and in need of a major facelift. read more

Went here on New Year's Eve for the Stranger Things finale--our first visit to AMC Jersey Gardens and, unfortunately, likely our last. The theater itself feels very dated, but the real issue was the seating. The chairs were old--like, visibly worn--and my wife's chair was actually broken. On top of that, nearly every chair in the theater squeaked. I'm not exaggerating when I say that at one point it sounded like we were sitting on a playground instead of watching a movie. The concession line was another mess. It was so long that people were still filing into the theater 30 minutes after the movie started. I honestly wish I had taken a picture because it was unbelievable. To top it off, my wife's seat was right next to a railing, which completely obstructed her view. We had to ask for a booster seat just so she could see the screen. That seat absolutely should have been labeled as obstructed view. Between the broken seating, constant noise, insane concession lines, and poor seating layout, this was a really disappointing experience--especially for a big event on NYE. There are much better AMC theaters in the area, and we'll be sticking to those moving forward. read more

I was stranded in Newark with a cancelled flight and tried out a 3D IMAX movie here since I am an A-list member in my home state. I didn't realize you get 4 free out of state movies a year either A-list, so I took full advantage with the most tricked out format I could find. The theater was probably gorgeous back in the day. It has hints of an art-deco feel inside, which I haven't seen in my 80s-feeling local theaters. It is huge and offers some of the cooler movie formats like 3d laser imax. The seats were reclining heated seats (at least in the imax portion of the theater) so no complaints there. The only bad parts are the bathroom (gross and run down) and sticky floor. Other guests were kind of rude, ignoring people in lines and trying to get to concessions from the side. Luckily the concession people saw it happen and refused them. I see some complainers, I'm guessing those theater goers don't know how bad some other theaters can be! read more

When we are having family outing to the movie theater, this is the theater that all five of us prefer to come to. Here's why: it is attached to Jersey Gardens, so it is easy to grab a quick bite beforehand and it is easy to get to. Sometimes we carpool and other times we take public transit when we are feeling adventurous. The staff is adequate as are the facility itself. But mostly, we like that there's no weird, inappropriate behavior happening like at the independent theater near our home. We've come here for maybe 3 movies now as a collective group and it's still one of my preferred places to bring the family to watch a film and spend money on concessions. We will return. read more

This movie theater is gigantic! On a weekday night, there was not much of a crowd at all, at least not for our movie of choice. If you are having trouble finding the AMC, just drive to the very back of the mall. Go alllll the way around and you'll see the lot to park in. The good: We arrived during previews and still had our choice of seats. You pick you seats when buying tickets, which always is a nice treat. They have student discounts! My friend bought our tickets and with that discount, they came out to about $15 each. Fun, old school feel. Maybe that is just movie theaters in general, since I never really go anymore. Did I mention it is HUGE? They have 20 screens, so even though the lot was full, it didn't feel like it once we were inside. The bad: Not the most comfortable seats. My butt was a little numb by the end, my back a little achy, and every time I tried to shift the chair would squeak loudly. The bathrooms were so gross. The doors didn't stay closed, I actually cut myself on the broken sink faucet, the floors were not clean, several toilets were clogged. read more

*1/5 stars* I'm still fuming about my experience at this movie theater on today,I shelled out over $71 for tickets to see a movie I've been dying to see, and what did I get? A subpar experience from start to finish. First, the security guard at the door was EXTREMELY rude. I mean, I've seen better people skills at a middle school dance. No please, no thank you, just a gruff demeanor that set the tone for the rest of the night. But that was just the beginning. When I went to grab a snack before the movie, I was shocked to find out that the concession stand was CLOSED. Are you kidding me?! On a holiday weekend, with a brand new blockbuster playing? You'd think they'd have enough sense to staff up and accommodate the crowds. Needless to say, I was not impressed. For the prices you're charging, you'd think you'd provide a modicum of customer service and basic amenities. I'm not asking for much, just a functioning concession stand and some courtesy from the staff. This is a pretty nice theatre. I especially like the Dolby cinema experience auditorium, but not so much some of the others. The chairs were close together and cloth as opposed to the fantastic leather recliners that I've become accustomed to at some of the other locations. It was helpful that the floors were clean in the theatre generally looked sanitised. All the concessions we tried were tasty (chicken tenders and popcorn) and fresh. We ended up seeing 3 movies in one day, so needless to say we had a good time. I think this might become our monthly location of choice because it's literally at the side entrance of the mall and across the road from ikea. read more

It is a HUGE week for movie premieres. I can't believe there was only one person scanning tickets in the front, same person selling new tickets. I expected the theater to be more lively at 7:45pm when I walked in for my movietime. It seemed like a ghost town. Too dark and lacking the energy you expect to experience at a place like this. I felt uneasy in Theater #17 because the exits were only to the right. Definitely not my favorite AMC theater. I will avoid it if I can. read more

Ugh, this theater needs a big upgrade. Old seats, dirty, slow lines. We checked into Theater 7 for Little Women, and although the show before us was barely attended, the theater is a wreck. Prices are very high for a theater that doesn't have the new recliners. Popcorn is stale. While I was buying it some dude pocketed and ran off with the salt shaker. I'm glad I ordered tickets ahead because they only had one cashier and a very long line. The concession line was very long, too I think I'll go back to Newport next time. read more

My friend Bryan recently rented one of the theaters at this AMC location for a screening of The Thing to celebrate his mother Pam's 75th (some day 73rd) birthday. The theater was paid in advance and my friend was paying for all the concessions. When the family went into the theater they found it littered with used mask, napkins and other thrash even tho they had been told if they left any trash they would be charged an additional fee for theater cleanup. After ordering they were told EVERY soda in the soda fountain needed to be changed and it would be a couple of minutes. The family members waiting for the soda were unaware that the movie had already started and the rest of the family was eating horribly burnt popcorn (with no drinks). The family members waiting in the lobby were repeatedly told it would be a few minutes for soda. Eventually (25 minutes later) they were told the soda machine was not working and they were given water in its place even tho the credit card has already been charged for soda. Upon entering the theater they realized they had missed 1/4 of the movie. After the movie my friend asked to see the manager who refused to come out of her office and relayed messages through another staff member. After arguing they agreed to refund the price of the sodas, but not the popcorn and they did not even apologize for the issue with most of the family missing a portion of the movie. This was a sad way for a woman to celebrate her 75th (or 73rd) birthday even tho she was not aware of the issues and her husband Edgar seemingly enjoyed the charred popcorn. They were surprised by how well Kurt Russel still looks in 2021. If a celebrity the caliber of Bryan who is a successful writer, director & star of multiple movies, TV shows and podcasts receives service this bad then I have no doubt it would only be worse for the average person. I will not be visiting this theatre again and Bryan assured us he will not drive the 35 miles to the Elizabeth AMC again regardless what his friends Walter, Jeff and Gett'em think about the excuses made by the theater staff. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. If I could give this place zero stars or even negative stars I would. Horrible theater, don't even think about coming here. Theaters finally opened up March 5th due to the pandemic and me and my friends decided to come watch Boogie. Got greeted with a warm welcome by a lady who was very friendly and offering masks. The movie started playing and throughout the entire movie there's people running around, talking, laughing, screaming, flashes on their phone. DEFINITELY smoking weed. Acting as if we were in a PARK. I've never been to a movie where this has happened. I traveled an hr to get here for a shit experience. If you want people talking, yelling, running around, screaming in your ear (GROWN ADULTS) then this should be your first choice. Waste of money, waste of travel, waste of time. I was so angry I left. Not to mention popcorn all over the stairs, first thing when you walk in. -0/10 recommended. read more

Upon entering the theater, there is a "Safe and Clean" poster that may just be the most ironic thing I have ever seen. This is the worst movie theater I have ever gone to in terms of cleanliness and the service is just as bad. I have attached photos so you can see how disgusting it truly is. I am surprised this place has not been shut down. With the modernization of many movie theaters lately, I was truly disgusted with the fact that this movie theater has probably not been updated OR cleaned since it was first opened. Everything was dirty. No surfaces are disinfected, not even the napkin holder by the popcorn or the cup holders/tables in the theaters themselves. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting and several people walked out not even wanting to use it after smelling and seeing it. The soda machine was missing a majority of the options and was so dirty you risk catching a disease while drinking from it. If you're paying a premium for soda at a movie theater, you deserve better. The popcorn was okay, but we paid for soda and couldn't even drink it. The pretzel bites were the most vile thing I have ever tasted. Upon opening the box, we were hit with a pool of oil, which towered over the pretzel bites, and the smell of burnt rubber and chemicals. The nacho cheese was burnt to a crisp and was undippable. Clearly something was wrong with the pretzels and they were completely inedible. Upon complaining to guest services, the employee sighed, rolled his eyes, and appeared to be completely uncaring of the situation. We never received an apology, or any effort to improve the situation. We eventually got a refund for the pretzels, but we should have been refunded for the soda too because I ordered a coke and was unable to get one. The sodas that they did have were completely flat and undrinkable. I'm sure they were still serving the rancid inedible pretzels to other customers after we complained. I should also mention most of the menu items were sold out, including the nachos. This place has clearly been neglected and I will never return. With the money they are investing to hire private security they could use to invest in some much needed renovations to the place and upgrades instead. I was honestly just in shock with how disgusting the place was because I have never seen a place of business this filthy. The management clearly has some work to do. The employees sit around talking and using their phones rather than maintaining the theater. The man with the glasses at guest services was laying back on his phone looking like he was ready to fall asleep. If only the time he was getting paid for he was actually doing something productive to ensure the guests have a good experience! I'm sure all he does all day long is process refunds. Do NOT under any circumstances go to a movie at this theater. read more

Went to go see Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and this was such a great experience! If you go on the weekdays there's barely anyone there. The staff was really nice, friendly and helpful! The cinema looked clean, well maintained and fairly price unlike other movie theaters. Plus, they have free parking! And the mall is right next door so if you were craving some food right after just stop by Jersey Gardens Outlet. Will I be retuning here? Absolutely :) this is the best theater in the area read more

Have been a few times when on our little vacation weekends in NJ, Dont love that some NJ theatres dont have reserved seating, suprisingly this one does. Its connected to the mall which is super convenient. Its always super dingy and they always give me a hard time about bringing in my Dunks Iced Tea, Hey I cant drink soda (Gastric Bypass and cant do bubbles) and who wants water... This theater has updated to be a bit more modern then what it use to be and that's always a plus for customers. On a Friday evening we had only three people in front of us purchasing tickets. You can preorder tickets and use their kiosk machines to print them. Or you can even order them their. I couldn't figure out how to add my amc stubs on the kiosk so I went to a teller to purchase our tickets. She was quick yet not so happy. After purchase I thanked her, my toddler thanked her and wouldn't even crack a smile yet responded with a "uh huh". The floors near the food stands were beyond sticky. The employee taking my order was friendly and taking orders promptly. The theater itself looks good in the sense that aisles are labeled and easier for customers to find their seats. Seats are a bit dirty as we sat and found popcorn all over our seats. For the price and the joy of movies, this is a place I would go to after a morning of shopping next door. Although this place is ALWAYS packed and the concession stand line is ALWAYS wrapped around the place, I really enjoy coming to this theater. The seats are new and comfortable and it's really easy to get tickets. My husband and I are AMC reward members so it definitely helps with the process of ordering tickets as well as buying snacks so you don't have to wait in line when you get there. Went to see His Only Son cause it wasn't showing in Staten Island. It's been years since I came to this theater. We were in theater 6 which was old and dark and grimy. The theater itself was filthy, including the bathrooms. The popcorn was yucky too. And when we left the theater is stepped into the Women's room to find 4 teenagers sitting on the floor and sink just hanging out - they were male!!! We reported it and promptly left. I will never return. Movies are far too expensive for this. It's a shame cause I love going to the movies but Netflix on my sofa will have to be it for me. read more

As an AMC stubs member I have been here many more times than I have checked in. I come here due to convenience of location and the IMAX. It is not as comfortable as the Menlo Mall AMC. Beware buying tickets during busy times since the crowd is often completely inconsiderate to fellow move goers. Constant personal conversations, talking to screen and cell phone use. If the older, heavy set, white haired woman is assisting you always double check your tickets for correct time, correct movie, count your change and make sure you get your glasses if needed. She has delayed the ticket purchasing process on several occasions. The arcade is perfect to keep the kids busy if too early for show. The IMAX is amazing and always muffles out the noise of constant disruptions from the in consideration of other movie goers. Parking: front of AMC is usually packed because it is also a mall entrance. Plenty parking in rear of AMC. read more

Still an awful theater with very rude people that bring their children to R-rated movies and won't teach them proper etiquette (such as respecting their fellow moviegoers by no talking and not running around the auditorium). Security and management are absolutely useless - they'd rather take the side of disruptive customers and not do anything at all about this issue. The sad part is due to its size and the diversity of the area it gets some interesting international films. What a shame they are being shown by the most incompetent management team in the history of theatrical exhibition. read more

This is one of the most run down amcs (actually cinemas) that we have visited. It's a little depressing actually. Unfortunately the ticket prices are the same as at the more modern places. The leg room is actually on the limited side... presumably in the past the place was more popular so they had to cram the seats in like a plane. But when we visited, it was pretty dead. On the positive side, there is ample parking. Hopefully it is renovated soon. read more

They have Dolby Cinema now it's very nice. Clear pictures and sounds are awesome, vibration from sounds carries though the seats. Seats have multiple settings, I just wished that seat's leg goes all the up, but it doesn't. But overall, its an experience to go see it. Its great that it is included A-List membership. AMC fan, all the way. Reserve seating is also great. They have been updating and renovating that most of screens are with reserved seating now. I am very disappointed and disgusted with the theatre's condition and lack I of service. We purchased tickets on one to see an IMAX 3D showing of the Black Panther, which of course was packed. Expected. While there was a long line to enter the theatre area and get your 3D glasses, it moved swiftly. When we got to the front of the line it was shocking to see the filth on the carpet and trash piled high on top of the trash cans up and down the hall in front of the various theaters entrances. When we entered IMAX theatre #11 we made a left to enter the left side where our seats were located. The carpet in that hallway and walls were filthy to say the least and at the beginning of that corridor the carpet was soaking wet! Wet with what I do not know but it was a large area of sopping wet carpet that patrons were forced to walk through in order to get to their seats. Getting popcorn or drinks was impossible as the concessions line was insanely long and not moving. There is a huge oval concession kiosk at this theatre with at least 10 service areas and only 3 of them manned. The remaining service areas were piled with boxes and dirty looking to be under Constuction at best. After multiple attempts to get refreshments we gave up. Sat through the film for which they had the sound up to the point of being painful at points in the film. To say management is poor at this facility would be a gross understatement. We have patronized this faculty in the past and had looked forward to a nice evening out. Sad to say we will be adding Jersey Gardens to our, fortunately, short list of "don't go" places. This one and Mountainside. It's a disgrace that AMC has allowed this place with their name go down the tubes like this. Not returning to pay nearly $20 a tkt and another $20-$30 in concessions to wade through filth and no service. read more

I brought my tickets at the counter but I was a little early so through small talk I told the worker that I'm going to walk over to Dunkin' Donuts to get my coffee. I get back only to be told that I can't bring it in. Now the workers says she didn't hear me say anything about coffee or she would've told me before I left once the manager said something. The manager was very rude. The part that really pissed me off is the last time I was at this theater there was a family with bags of Burger King. read more

There was a huge line of patrons with already bought tickets furious outside. - we decided to walk around the mall to kill some time in hopes that it would open. To our surprise, it was opened, and we headed to the theatre to watch Insidious at 6:40pm. We arrived at 6:30pm to get seats and it's currently 6:58pm and the film has not yet started. The lights are still on and people are getting impatient and agitated. I do not expect this from such a big company. Very dissatisfied. read more

When this theater first opened up it was much better and I feel the clientele was much less ignorant. Over the years I feel the theater rooms have become outdated and the crowd can be quite annoying. The reason why I give this theater 3 stars is because it has late showings up until or past midnight and there is always parking. This is the only AMC I've been to where people consistently talk during the movies. I'm done with this theater. The older woman at the ticket booth is absolutely AMAZING, always so friendly, but I'm tired of people talking during the films and nothing being done about it (not her fault AT ALL, she just mans the booth). I gave 2 stars because I love her so much, I would've given it 1 or 0 if possible. There's NEVER anyone manning the customer service desk so even if I go to complain, there's nobody ever there. I have to walk all the way to the front to the older woman and have her call someone to the desk. Today I was told by I'm guessing the manager, after she radioed and I walked back and forth from the front to the service desk, that I "should've come during the movie". "I'd rather you miss a minute of your movie to come tell us." I've done that before and nothing was done about it last time. As soon as they left, the people started talking again. So you're telling me I have to leave the movie I PAID FOR, missing scenes that may or may not be important, to have nothing be done about it anyway? It wouldn't be a minute, like I said, nobody is ever there, it would've been at least 10. Not worth it, I'll just stop coming here. The last time I came people were talking during a special screening and snapchatting with the flash on. They thought it was hilarious. I got up that time and reported it, but they other patrons kept doing it. It's beyond rude. Whenever I come here I also can never get the concessions I want because the fryer is always being cleaned. Once I went at 2 in the afternoon, had a family without premiere cut me in the premiere line, get their hot food and then I was told that I couldn't order anything hot. Firstly, if people don't have premiere do like other locations and send them to the back of the regular line. They do it on purpose, they know you're still going to serve them, so they get what they want. It's not fair. Secondly, why are you cleaning a fryer on a weekend afternoon when you know you'll have customers? I've never had this issue at any other AMC's and I visit a lot here and in other states. Don't bother coming here. They show movies longer than other theaters, but it's SO outdated compared to the other AMC's (Clifton is like this too and smells, so don't go there either) . You may pay a dollar or 2 more somewhere else, but at least you get a distraction free environment with full recliner seats and a concessions stand that isn't always having their fryers cleaned. The new Dolby theater isn't impressive at all, not worth the trip. read more

I was shopping at the mall and decided to come here afterwards. This theater its really odd they had huge posters up blocking everything which made me feel very unwelcomed. There was no one selling move tickets so we just got them through the machine. Then we had to walk around the concession stand since it was all blocked off and no one even took our ticket stub. Once we got to the theater we realize we never got our glasses since we were watching a 3D movie. We had to walk all around again to customer service where they provided us with the glasses. I do have to say the chairs were super comfortable which I'm big on and the theater was huge. I hope they really change the set up or it was temporary because it doesn't make any sense. read more
