Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life! They are utterly clueless as to what is going on with anything. I've spent nearly two months trying to get this BRAND NEW unit to work and they continue to give me the run around. They will not call me despite having left my number a dozen times. I am a long time customer of Amcrest and I have to say the outsourced customer service is among the worst ever!!! I started out with an 8 camera and DVR unit. The DVR stopped recording. There tech support could not get it working and instead had me purchase a new hard drive for $105. It still wasn't recognizing the hard drive. Tech then had me have the hard drive re formatted at a cost of $25. It still wasn't working. I decided to upgrade the system to a 16 camera unit. The new unit working for 2-3 months and it too stopped recording. It wasn't recognizing the hard drive. I again went through the same process as described above to no avail. They had me replace the hard drive again at a cost of another $105 and reformat at another cost of $25. They sent me a refurbished DVR which is also defective and won't recognize the hard drive. I requested a NEW DVR considering all my out of pocket expenses when it was the DVR that was defective all along. Amcrest refused by email. I asked for this issue to be escalated to Houston. I received no response. I have called numerous times only to get disconnected or speak to someone in a foreign country that does not have a strong command of the English language. A few of the things I noticed about it noticed are the camera and smart app responsiveness. It takes less than 3-4 sec to go live and start rendering the visuals. The camera also takes snapshots of all the time whenever a motion is detected. This feature is useful in the scenario when I was not subscribed to the plan of uploading my camera data on the cloud. I noticed that when using the multi-view feature of the app and was rendering the view from another camera responsiveness got impacted. An improvement that could be done if only 2 cameras are displayed at a given time instead of splitting the screen into 4 segments should divide the screen into 2 segments only giving more viewing space for the visuals. The quality of the image is really good, showing the image in both SD and HD quality saves data plan. Suggestion: The camera should remember the last choice made by the user as I prefer to render the image in HD only but the app doesn't remember my last set. Talking about another feature of the pan/tilt of the camera I really liked that feature as it gave me the flexibility of not mounting the camera on the wall. Along with that whenever the camera notices a face it automatically rotates to keep capturing the human motion. I think the thing that I think could be improved is the product makes noise while rotating on its axis, which I think when kept in a baby's room, could be scarier for them. read more

I have been an Amcrest/Amcrest cloud customer for a couple of years. I bought 3 cameras and I really like (IP2M-841 series) the video quality and ability to pan/tilt/hear audio. I also signed up for the cloud service to store detected motion so I could review it later. I am paying for the 3 camera/7 day plan. I hadn't really had a reason to take a look until this week when I wanted to review something that happened 2.5 days ago. I logon to the cloud site and it only had events for the last 1.5 days. NOTHING before that. I reported this to their technical support and got this response: *********************** Hugo Garcia (Amcrest) May 5, 8:49 AM CST Good Morning there, Your cameras are showing good status from admin panel. Could you please let it run over a couple more days and please let me know if you can access recordings on the 7 day margen? I have bought three Amcrest products so far and have been very pleased with them. Their video doorbell works great and sends the alert instantly and comes with 1 year of free cloud storage. I am very happy with their Smart Home App as well. Now I don't have to maintain multiple apps for security camera and doorbell. read more

I am using their 1080p USB webcam. It's worth the money, much better than my laptop's webcam. My entire office-team is working remote. We are on video-conference call for multiple hours a day. I am using the web-cam on a daily basis for work. The mic works as expected and has a reasonably good range. The video quality is great and I love the privacy shutter. read more

Purchased 4 4K POE cameras with the understanding from Amcrest that mount's would soon be available for these new models. That was over a year ago. I attempted to online chat with them today and was transferred to 8 different agents, of which NONE of them even said hello. Finally on the 9th agent, I was simply told NO. Horrible customer service. Will be purchasing additional cameras from another vendor. Not worth the hassle. Now need to build my own mounts for these otherwise worthless cameras. read more

This is not good. I thought I had done my homework. Impossible to configure. Tech support couldn't do it. Continually cut off while holding. The playback makes no sense. Can't highlight a date, so you don't know what you've selected. Then the playback of whatever day it is doesn't make sense. Day when the time shows it should be night and vice versa. Then only a few of the cameras show up on playback anyway. The program on the computer can't see the system, so that doesn't work. Tech support tried and couldn't make it happen. Interface clunky beyond words. Long delay when entering password, so frustrating multiple attempts. I feel like a chump after all my research about how they'd taken over from Foscam and were making it better. Two days later: Just feel like I'm sinking into a rabbit hole with this company. On line tech support doesn't bother to read the email and gives canned response to things that are clearly not the issue. Two promised and scheduled calls from a supervisor didn't happen. Turns out the Mac software doesn't work. It goes on, but you get the idea. read more

If I could give Amcrest negative stars, I would. My company has spent 5k on their equipment over the last 3 years and it has been nothing but a HUGE HASSLE. Their sales and customer support are the WORST. They are VERY uninformed and flat-out don't know what they are selling most of the time. I recently ordered another system that was a DVR + camera kit and after they sat on the order for 7 business days and spending over an hour with them on the phone to figure out whether it had shipped yet, they finally concluded that they didnt know and that I need to email their shipping team to find out. It took another 48 hours for them to respond. When they got back to me, they said the package had been mailed the day prior. Good, I guess. 5 days later and the package arrived WITHOUT THE CAMERAS. And, the shipping on their website says everything has been delivered. I got off the phone again with them again today and I need to email their shipping team. Oh joy. Why do I keep going back to them you might ask? Because my first order was large, consisting of several DVR boxes (cameras, etc.), all compatible with the Amcrest View Pro app. We've spent thousands installing their equipment so we're stuck now. I purchased two security systems from Amcrest. When the shipment arrived the two NVR's that were paid for and clearly on the invoice were not in the box. Amcrest has taken a position of "they should have been in the box" and has refused to do anything. They told me I can pay to ship back what I received for a refund but they will only refund what is returned to them. How can I return what they did not ship! Horrible experience! I will end up paying out of my pocket to ship 8 cameras back to them and contesting the charge through my bank. read more

This review is accurately noted from personal experiences dealing with this company; experience with the camera purchased from them; that is based on fact. It was NOT written with malice or intent to deface, discredit or degrade the company reputation or standing in the business community as the company's actions and employees are responsible for that outcome personally and directly. I purchased a new IP3-956b WiFi dome camera on 5/19/17. I received it about a week later and attempted to set it up. Initially it formatted the Micro SDXC WiFi, IP, etc, but failed to configure motion days, times & zone, I tried and tried. I even reinstalled the software & plugins, hard reset it, hard rebooted it, etc. Then it started shutting down by itself resetting it to factory specs so I had to re configure everything. Then it started to fail completely-no lights, not video. And when it did power up it was like frozen as the Camera configuration software couldn't even see it. Then I contacted. After several Emails I sent one to other sections of the company even using their chat. I spoke to a couple of Techs. Got cut off twice. One guy I spoke with wanted me to reinsert the Micro SD card in Upside Down. i had to tell him the correct way. Upon powering up on a hard reset the software couldn't get a video so I had to tell him that the browser needed to be refreshed. Then he had me take out the Micro SD card and reinsert it a 3rd time and that is when the camera corrupted my Micro SD card and the camera froze completely. After multiple failed attempts to get this camera to work I asked for a RMA to return the camera for an exchange or for a refund. They kept asking me to do things that were already mentioned in my prior Emails and that I already tried. hey may have well just asked me to plug the camera in. It was obvious to me that they did not want to issue an RMA and kept stalling. Ironically they reminded me that the camera carried a warrant for exchange or return. But if I cannot get it to work out of the box then what good is a warranty? Finally I opened an Ebay Case and they eventually refunded the purchase price but kept contacting me to try more things. I had to tell the 3rd Tech that they refunded my purchase and he stopped contacting me. They were supposed to send me a prepaid return label and I am still waiting for that to come as of today (7/14/17). read more

The cameras that I ordered are useful and will be great for my simple project. However, the customer service when ordering from an agent on the website was atrocious. During the order creation process they were very responsive, almost pushy, but I was willing to give them a pass as it was likely outsourced call center situation that relies heavily on volume of orders. I was uncomfortable with them calling me for CC info, which seemed like a red flag, but then was furnished with official order information and a paypal link for payment (Paypal protection gave me the minimal comfort level I needed to proceed). I was told to expect my order with a delivery of 2 to 7 business days. I requested shipping information at the end of the transaction and ignored by the agent. I requested it again in the following two days. On the 4th day after the order, I placed the same request over the phone, on the website, and via email simultaneously. All simply told me it hadn't shipped. I was finally able to get someone on the phone and was told my order hadn't shipped and they would not provide a shipping estimate for delivery. I asked to speak to someone in Houston and was told that it was not possible. After speaking to 6 people (and almost cancelling either my order and/or CC, thinking it was fraudulent) I finally spoke to an associate that was able to give me tracking info. The catch is that I will miss the time sensitive nature of the project because Amcrest took several days to inform me that their original shipping estimate was untrue. The product is gets high marks for affordability, 3 stars for quality and will serve its purpose for a time. The customer service and follow up on requests from a paying customer are abysmal. I hope that the items hold up so I do not have to deal with their service again. If I weren't under a deadline, I would return the product and find another supplier. read more

I purchased a Amcrest camera from Newegg that was supposed to be new but when I tried to setup the cloud profile, it already had someone's information. I called support who told me it was probably used and to call tech support to fix the problem. Tech support told me it would cost $69.00 to reset the profile. I reported the problem on 4/10/2020 and have not heard back as of 4/28/2020. The BBB can't get a response from them either.... "The BBB cannot confirm nor deny the company is still in business. However, they have failed to respond to the BBB to resolve and address complaint issues." read more

I have purchased 12 Amcrest Cameras over the past 3 years. In the past year I purchased 6 721 IP Cameras. 3 of the cameras had PNY 64GB Turbo Memory cards in it. The cards got corrupted by the AMCREST device during a write sequence. I sent the cards to PNY for analysis and they confirmed that it was the AMCREST device which was writing to the card (the device has a signature which tells the card what was writing at the time of failure). The AMCREST device caused my cards to fail. I have contacted your techical support and was initially PROMISED a FULL REFUND FOR MY MEMORY CARDS. I cooperated fully and sent in receipts for my cameras and memory cards. Upon Amcrest not finding a way to get out of refunding me my money they sent back a response which was the exact opposite of what we agreed to with your technical representative (level 2 or above). I wasted my time sending in receipts as I know Amcrest was going to try to get out of liability, but could not. Supposedly they ran some tests and could not duplicate the issue, BUT CLEARLY THEY CANNOT MIMIC MY ENVIORNMENT IDENTICALLY. I offered more information but amcrest has been uncooperative. I am disgusted by this level of service for someone who owns 12 of your cameras. I wish I had read these reviews before choosing AMCREST as my home vendor. I would have gone with Wyze for less than half the price! read more

I bought a security system from them. I admittedly took a long time actually installing it once I moved into my new house. I spent extra on a unit with a DVR and when I installed it there was no hard drive. When I contacted them about it they told me to pound sand because it was outside the 30 day purchase window. I've installed many, many security cameras from a variety of companies. I recently switched to buying almost exclusively Amcrest because they are one of the few companies that offer professional-quality cameras backed by a U.S. based support team. In my experience, it is very unusual for a camera company to offer a phone number where you can get immediate support, but Amcrest does. I have had several interactions with their support team. My last issue with a camera was solved by a 7 minute phone call directly to support and the issue before that was RMA'd successfully without a problem. The learning curve is just a tad greater for Amcrest's cameras compared to some of the plug-and-play companies, but the video quality of Amcrest cameras is far greater. I've also found that Amcrest also uses a derivative of a more widely-used firmware for their cameras, so the bugs and other issues associated with "re-inventing the wheel" don't appear. If you use an NVR or DVR for your surveillance setup, Amcrest is hands down your best option. read more

BUYER BEWARE! I purchased an 8 camera system with NVR directly from Amcrest. That's pretty much the end of anything good to say about this company, its product or the support. I have had neverending issues without any useful technical support or solutions to the issues. From cameras that stop functioning and have to be reset, NVR that has not worked right from day one... to outright deception in sales! Part of the system included a hard drive that they claimed is a Seagate Surveillance model specifically suited for non-stop data recording 24 hours a day, but the part number when I researched it is the cheapest low end 4TB Seagate drive one can possibly find online. It definitely is NOT the drive they advertised and it has already failed. Keep in mind I'm a techie over 30 years and used to figuring out vague instructions. This product is definitely NOT worth the cost! Its unreliable and cheaply made. spelling errors throughout the software tells me this company is selling cheaply made chinese junk! read more

Terrible company, I purchased an AI NVR through Amcrest because they got me a better deal than Amazon. When the nvr came in it did maybe 1/2 of what it was supposed to beable to do so I contacted Amcrest got an RMA # and sent everything back to Amcrest's exact instructions I then sent an email to Amcrest with the tracking number per instructions from Amcrest, I then receive an email back that it takes 3-5 days to "verify" the product was the correct product (what kind of company takes 3-5 days to verify a product?) And an additional 1-3 days for the money to be returned. They received the nvr back on 04/28/2021 and today's date is 05/07/2021 so it's now been technically 7 business days or 9 days total since they've received the item back so now they have the nvr and my money which I would imagine is theft especially since they haven't even tried to make this right. Also they don't cover returning a product like Amazon either so be prepared to pay an additional $50 to send the item back. read more

The continuing saga of my attempt to update my credit cared info on the Amcrest website. For two weeks now I have tried every which way to accomplish this simple feat, to no avail. After having no respone to my phone message, left on their customer service line. And, after emailing their customer service department, with again no response, I did finally receive an email from my posting on Yelp. I guess they have some way of seeing these Yelp reviews of their product and/or customer service postings. They sent me a reference number for my inquiry. Great, still no fix to my problem. After another 24 hrs of nothing happening, I recive an email with a picture of a webpage on how to make the correction. However, there is no way to acces this page they are showing. It is not to be found, at least by me, anywhere on their webpage. I have twice given them my number and asked that someone call me, and hopefully to walk me through the steps, still no response. This company has to have absoultely the worst customer service on line! read more

I never leave bad reviews as i believe that mistakes happen. But, Amcrest has the worst customer service that i have ever dealt with. The camera system is complicated and there should be easy fixes to the few issues i am having. I contacted customer support (twice) as i could not get the cameras to stop scrolling on the screen. I spoke to two different agents (who i could not even understand and had to ask them to repeat themselves several times) for 45 minutes each and they could not fix this minor issue. The second guy just said, "Well, according to the settings, you should be able to fix that. Give us a call back if there are anymore issues." And then he hung up. The issue was not even fixed!! Now, a the mouse will not work on the DVR and they could not help me with that either. I sent an email telling them i wanted to return everything for a refund and they replied that it was past my 30 days. Only good thing i can say about the system is that the camera's have excellent picture. I did a ton of research before i bought Amcrest and i went with them because they were rated so high. I am fully regretting buying this system and will not purchase from Amcrest again. read more

When I got the Amcrest it tooks Hubby 45 minutes to install, then I have to call Amcrest they told me use our laptop or computer so they can go on computer to help us. First of all we don't have laptop, or computer. Tried to call again luckily someone answer the phone and told us to reboot the Camera. Finally it works, then Hubby Dropped His phone and went to get a new phone, sure enough he got a new Samsung Galaxy S8. This is definitely one of the very worse tech companies in existence. I have now paid over $1,000 for a system. The NVR had to be returned within the first year. One of the original cameras went out shortly after the warranty period. Two of the inside cameras were delivered inoperative. The TA for setting up and maintaining the system is utterly appalling. Today I spent over 2 hours and ended up with no view on my computer, laptop, or cell phone. The technicians make changes that they are specifically asked not to do (with the router) causing utter chaos. Promised call backs from the higher level of support never come or come so much later no one is at home to answer. The system will work for a day and then is dysfunctional the next time I go to use it. Management is unresponsive if you are lucky enough to find someone to contact. The true owners in China are totally unreachable by email. SPEND THE MONEY AND GET A HIGH QUALITY LOCAL COMPANY TO INSTALL AND MAINTAIN A GOOD SYSTEM. read more
