I am new to Texas and I was having difficulty finding someone to cut my hair so I turned to Yelp. A lady by the name of Lillian kept coming up in reviews as giving a great hair cut as well as manicures. I made an appointment and went and she was just as good as all the interviews...in fact better. I had gotten caught in a terrible thunder storm on the way to the appoint. and I kept calling her and even though it was closing time she said to still come. Two months later I called for a hair cut and she was gone. No one at Harvey's would tell me where she went. I was so upset. Finally I had found someone that didn't charge an arm and a leg and she was gone. I held off on getting my hair cut from early September till mid December when I just couldn't wait any longer. I was on my way in to Torchys on Palm Valley road and there was a Great Cuts beside Torchy's. Don't know what made me decide to go in, but I did. No, Lillian wasn't working there but after getting in deep conversation with Angie, the lady who was cutting my hair, and telling her my "Lillian" story I found that this same Lillian has been Angies's as well as her mother's nail tech. for over 10 years. Angie called Lillian while we were having dinner and asked if she could give me her number and tell me where she was working. By the way Angie was very good and I can always use her as a backup. And, how nice was it for her to go the distance and get me back to Lillian? There are still good people out there. So, I went today to get my hair cut. She was just as good as the first time. Usually I just get a hair cut but today I treated myself to the wash (great head massage, even temples), cut and style. The whole thing was $30.00! I understand Harvey's has been threatening Lillian since I posted my question asking if anyone knew where she was. Just think if they had just told me where she was...they obviously knew or they couldn't have reached her. Anyway someone wanted me to find Lillian and I did. The salon itself is nothing great, but it is neat and clean. The employees I saw were mostly Vietnamese,not that that should matter and Lillian is just as sweet as sugar, not to mention experienced. She checks, and double checks. She won't let you leave until you are Happy. She really should have her own place. So if you are looking for a stylist give her a call. She said she was going back to Vietnam for the month of February as she hasn't seen her family for five years but she will be back the first week of March. You won't be sorry.

I'm very spoiled because 2 of my daughters do hair professionally, and it was hard for me to find a good salon after moving 3 hours away from them to Austin, and then Hutto. Maxi is excellent at color, cuts and did a great Brazilian Blow out; and my hair looks and feels wonderful. The prices are very reasonable and actually much less than what I paid in Dallas. She gives you exactly what you ask for and is experienced enough to let you know if your request would damage your hair or not. They are a family salon and have a very good atmosphere. He says ok, and I said I would like to get a pedicure as well. It's 1pm, there's only 1 woman he speaks too and says can you come back at 3pm. I understand not everyone can work with actual acrylic or soft gel so no problem. Now mind you most of the negative reviews are from years ago, so I thought nothing of it. 2:18 they call and ask if I can come in earlier. I said sure I'll be there in 10. I arrive and the same person checks me in. So far, no problem. First issue, I sit in the chair and the water is so hot steam is coming off. This was a sign and I should have listened to my gut and hightailed it out of there. I have to say something to like three different people to get them to come turn the water off even after I took my feet out. She then grabs a spare drill and starts to take off my polish. I stop her and say it's not gel, it's regular. She acted she doesn't hear me and continues to try and put the drill on my toenail. Now mind you the sanding band looked to be a month old I said no, thank you Id like to soak it off. She's now mad that I don't want a dirty sanding band. Finally the person at the front desk explains this to her. Like for real I'm not trying to get an infection. She gets some foil and still wraps my toes, as if it's gel polish instead of just taking my nail polish off. Strike 3, she cuts my cuticles back till one bled and this is after I told her multiple times to please not. She scraped under my nails forcefully and for some unknown reason, cut the sides of my nail. Lotion never entered the equation and my skin was just as dry when I left as I came in. Mind you, this is the "deluxe" pedicure. I brought my own polish as I had a particular color I wanted. This is not unusual and it was a quality brand. She disagreed but didn't say anything about it until she botched color on my toes by not using a basecoat. She offered to fix but after all this was not interested. She used dip powder on my nails and not actual acrylic like I asked. I wondered why I needed to come back two hours later when I had specifically asked for this, I told her not to put tips on my nails, she kept trying to glue those plastic tips to my nails anyway. Explain to her that I have a healthy, natural nail and I don't want the glue or powder. Just overlay. That was it for me. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. At that point, I'm not even mad that she didn't do my manicure or mention it. The front desk person rings me up and they charged me $30 for gel polish. I don't understand this as I brought my own polish and no one said it would be an extra $30 for gel. This is one of the worst experiences I've ever had a nail salon. I could have just saved the hundo and done it myself.
