I am very disappointed with my appt & style with Velma. I made the appt only since several of my friends get their hair done with her, and comes fairly well. My hair color was to be dark brown but when she was blow drying my hair the top of my hair in the light came out Red. Had to stay longer to redo my hair color. Not only was the hair color wrong, my hair cut was terrible(looks like it was chewed up) I have a hard time styling my hair. And...the cost was horrindous! I have been going to this salon for 12 years. I originally started with Vilma, who can cut your hair amazingly. I switched to Erika about 3-4 years ago. She seemed to have more open appointments, and I liked her styling. I had been getting a mild relaxer, semi-permanent color, and a Brazilian Blowout--typically the Brazilian every 6 months, and the relaxer/color every 9 weeks. Erika told me about a treatment called Black Diva, which she said contained natural ingredients and could potentially replace both the relaxer and the Brazilian since they are chemical-based. She mentioned there would be some lightening of my hair color, similar to what happens with the Brazilian, and I was okay with that. She normally applies a black semi-permanent color, knowing it lifts to a dark brown, which I've been fine with in the past. Erika recommended that we wait a few weeks longer than the normal relaxer time frame to apply the Black Diva. After receiving the Black Diva treatment, my hair was left in poor condition -- uneven color and no real results aside from temporary softness. It had been 14 weeks since my last relaxer, so my hair was extremely unmanageable within a few days after treatment. Either Erika used a brown color instead of black this time, or the Black Diva lightened my hair more aggressively than the Brazilian, because my hair was a much lighter brown and my scalp turned even lighter than the rest of my hair due to my gray. After about two weeks, I had to apply a semi-permanent dark brown color myself, as the lightening continued and made the color look even more uneven. After I applied the color, it began to fade after two weeks back to the original color that was left after the Black Diva. I emailed Erika to let her know that my hair was horrible. She recommended that I come in for the Black Diva deep conditioning treatment. I did, and while she didn't charge me (as she shouldn't have), it did not fix the issue. I waited another week, hoping my hair would become more manageable, but I couldn't take it any longer. I emailed Erika again to let her know that this needs to be fixed properly -- by going back to a relaxer and having my color applied. She didn't respond until nearly a week later, when she called and gave me a date and time for an appointment. I assumed this was to address and fix the issue at no additional cost, given the poor results, lack of follow-up, and the amount I had already paid. I returned to Erika expecting she would stand behind her work and correct the issues I experienced with the initial service, which cost $461. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Instead, I was shocked to find I was being charged the full price -- $224 -- with no consideration or discount. Erika mentioned she didn't charge for the deep conditioner (which I did not ask for) or the curling (which I was prepared to pay for, as they refer to it as "iron work"), but she made no effort to acknowledge or adjust for the inconvenience, the delayed response, or the condition of my hair. She just kept stating that she told me what "could" happen with the treatment. Really??? She was even surprised by the condition of my hair herself. The treatment made it soft and that's it. I don't care about soft, it wasn't worth $305 for softness or $89 for a color gone bad. A la carte charges from both appointments: Original ($461) included: * Light trim - $67 * Color - $89 * Black Diva - $280 * Additional ounces of Black Diva - $25 (And yes, I questioned the trim cost. She trimmed my hair for all of not even 5 minutes. The reply was if I recommend someone to the salon they would give me credits but that is the cost.) Follow-up appointment ($224) included: * Relaxer - $88 * Color - $89 * Shampoo/blow dry - $47 (The shampoo/blow dry charge makes no sense -- you can't give a relaxer without shampooing the hair afterward. This is just another way to tack on charges. This was possibly to charge for iron work without really saying it was charged this time.) I'm not sure how Vilma would have handled this issue but I am not a happy camper with how Erika handled it. With all that being said, I'll be going to a different salon. read more

I had been enjoying this place because of the affordable prices but you get what you pay for. I originally had been going to Zoe who is good and all but wasn't available recently. I ended up booking an appt with Glen. I like when salons offer you coffee or water but this place just wants to get you in and out ASAP. Anyways I got my ear flat ironed and my scalp burned badly. My glasses were dropped and scratched up on one lense which I have to pay $100 to replace now since I don't carry insurance. I'm going to switch to a higher end salon now, sorry. Rosie really knows her stuff when it comes to doing hair. I can be having one of the worst days and by the time I leave the salon, Rosie has not only made me look fabulous but I feel amazing. Not only does she do my hair but she does my husband, son and daughters hair. She is always up to date on all the new styles and techniques as well as products knowledge. worst salon experience i've ever had. first i walk into the salon for my appointment and have my eyebrows waxed. the lady is nice but she waxed my brows so hard that the skin came off and my brows are now surrounded by oozing scabs. i cant cover it with makeup. next, I got a haircut with Glenn. It started out ok but the subject matter of his conversation quickly became dark and offensive. Soon i was hearing stories about murders, child abuse, spousal abuse, and graphic sexual assault. He even used the n-word. The haircut was nice but it took almost 2 hours of horrible stories for him to finish. All because i casually asked him how long he had been cutting hair. One of the other stylists even asked him if hed be done with the haircut anytime soon. I had to finally interrupt him and ask the same question to end it. I left the salon traumatized. I sincerely hope the owner sees this review and gives glenn a talk about censoring himself with customers because I wont be back. read more

I was initially pleased with how kind and attentive Zoie was. Everything with my haircut was okay until she grabbed the thinning shears (which I never asked for or mentioned!) and pretty much had a go at my hair until she was satisfied. Without all the unnecessary thinning, my haircut probably would've been fine. But now my hair looks like it was cut with a weed wacker and I can't even put it into a ponytail without looking like a rat. On my wedding day Cynthia was my stylist and she did an AMAZING job. She was sweet and talked to me the whole time and her final product was beautiful, and she finished quickly! I WOULD give them 5 stars if it were just for Cynthia, but unfortunately I can't do that. The shop owner was incredibly unprofessional and would not leave my stylist alone. As I was getting ready to pay, she started bickering to Cynthia and made me sit back down, and made her completely take my bun out and then took over and started messing with my hair. I asked her how long this would take and she said "just a few minutes" and when I expressed how frustrated I was she told me "this is MY shop and MY reputation" I was so annoyed and it made me so stressed out. I was completely happy with what Cynthia did and then this lady came along and I ended up with basically the same outcome, except now I was running late to my wedding. I was getting tired of my hair so researched yelp and saw all these great reviews and decided on this salon. Imagine my happiness when I walk in and can be seen right away by Glenn. He proposed a different style than what I wanted and after showing me a picture of what it would look like, I deferred to his expertise and agreed to the haircut from the picture (longer layer style whereas I wanted all over one length). I can honestly say, since leaving the salon my husband has said I look like mrs doubtfire and my hair cut is for older people (I'm 36). My co workers who are usually so complimentary had nothing to say except awkwardly "oh, you got a haircut, cool". My friend saw my hair and said "oh, you got a haircut, do you like it?" This is honestly the worst haircut I have ever ever had and I am thinking of getting extensions now to "fix" it. If your part of the older over 55 crowd, this maybe the place for you, but if your younger-steer clear. Usually a stylist makes you feel good about yourself but my hair looks like a mullet and he also said I looked like a football player walking around with my longer hair (it was to my shoulders). I left feeling bad about myself and my hair. It's been a couple of days and the haircut isn't growing on me. I am giving one star since I was an early morning walkin and there was a cancellation so I could be seen right away. Glen is amazing! I went in a bit skeptical and he won me over. I told him my hair was too "orangy" and that I had been to my stylist twice and she was unable or unwilling to listen to what I wanted and correct it. He did correct my color and put in some new highlights and I am blown away by how good it looks.
