Other places I use a cab fares are determined based on a meter. When I called a cab in Peabody, I looked for the company with the best rating and Americab had a high rating. As we were driving, I asked where is the meter and realized the driver didn't speak much English and couldn't really answer the question. I asked the fare and was told $12. I said that is expensive and the driver said $10. When I got to my destination I looked the company up by website and found it charges flat rates not metered rates and the rate was $10. As an ex-cabbie, I do my bit to support cabbies in an Uber and Lyft world but not when they lie about the rate. read more

8:45 PM 9/1/2018 cab 32 ran well through the cross walk on Flint & Essex in Salem on Red. I was walking legally with my dogs along Essex and was 2 paces into the cross walk. Driver was not paying attention and would have hit me hard had I not been paying attention. I had the green he had the red. I understand people creeping through crosswalks to see, but there was no point on a red and he had not prior come to a stop and was probably doing at least 10 miles an hour at the start of the crosswalk before fully coming to a stop and appeared to be looking down at something, probably a phone, as it was shining light onto his face. This is a very residential area and is incredibly unnecessary to drive fast and it is incredibly unsafe to not be paying attention along these roads in this part of Salem. His window is down and I got his attention by clearing my throat at him fortunately I was calm and did not do anything else. The company doesn't have a website anymore and I'm sure they're not taking phone calls at this time of night, and I wouldn't be surprised if they don't care what I have to say about the recklessness of their driver in cab 32. read more

Used Americab to go and come back to/from the airport with my family of four in April. They were on time both times, had the requested size vehicle for us and our luggage, and the driver was courteous. Vehicle was also clean. Had been a little concerned with the low star rating, but found that to be the case with most of the cab companies, so we took a chance since they were more competitively priced. Will definitely use them again. read more

Talk about BAD! Do not use these people if you need to get to the airport on time! I called them TWICE to make sure the would pick me up at the agreed hour and when that time came - guess what? No taxi - when I called them to ask where it was I was told they had no record of my call (yeah, right!) they had no cabs available - I was frantic as close to missing my plane - as luck would have it I called Salem Taxi who I've used in the past and they came right over & I got my flight - Americab was rude and completely unprofessional - don't use them!!! read more

They are ripping people off they are charging more than what it's supposed to be I took a cab from Beverly to Market Basket on Endicott in Danvers it was only $12 the cab driver tried to charge me 15 by called for a cab back to come back home and the person on the phone try to charge me $20 just to come back from Market Basket to Beverly again where I only paid 12 + on the trying to charge me 20 they are ripping people off left and right read more

While Americab is usually really great at Salem depot, having them come to your house to get to the train is a different story. On two different occasions now I've called them and try said 10-15 minutes when it actually took them 1/2 hr. the guy called me a few times saying the cab was right downstairs as I was standing downstairs and saw no cab. Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. I'll never use their service from my house again. read more

Terrible cab company with drivers that will try to scam you and supervisors that will avoid all responsibility. Beware! I recently took a trip from Salem to newtown and booked a cab from this company. The driver for cab 16 charged me $120 for the trip and demanded that I paid the bill in cash. Suspicious the price was too high, I called the company after. The receptionist confirmed that I was overcharged $30. Spoke to the supervisor who pretended to make a gesture to repay me but has since went silent. Worst experience ever. Guy was driving like an idiot (Camry #22 around 1pm on 10/30/15). He gave the finger and honked the horn at someone - while I was in the car with an infant. I was terrified, just wanted to get dropped off and walk the rest of the way. Never again Americab!!! read more

Americab is the worst cab that I have ever taken .... they are rude never on time and expect a tip the tip for this company is to GO AWAY, it took the cab 45 min to almost an hour to get to me I was late two days in a row because of them . I tried to call the owner of the cab and he hung up on me more than once .... At this point I would advise people to buy your own transportation if you can afford too. if not I advise everyone to take Salem taxi the best cab company that I have ever taken on the north shore. So I made the terrible mistake of using this company to take me & my family to Logan and pick us up. First I couldn't make a reservation until the day before and then the day of I had to call when they were 20 minutes late. It sounded like I woke the guy up because it was a 4am pick up time. He said the driver was a on his way and then proceeded to ask what the address was and if I really needed a van that I requested the day before. On my return I called from NJ on my layover 1 1/2 hours before my expected arrival at Logan to request an 8:30pm pick up. Since I was paying by credit card I had to pay up front and it was an addition $5 from their flat $40 rate for Logan pick up/drop off price. When we arrived I called to ask where to wait for the driver and was asked to go up to departures because it would be easier for the driver. I had to drag my luggage and my 2 VERY tired and screaming kids up to wait. We waited 10 minutes past our requested pick up time and called and was told he would be there in 3 minutes. At 8:45 pm (15 minutes late) I had to call yet again and was then told he was pulling up...a lie. He arrived at 8:50pm again, 20 minutes late. The driver claimed he had only gotten the job at 8:30 (when we had originally requested to be picked up!!!!) So, needless to say I will NEVER use this company again, not even for local rides. The only positive is the drivers were nice. The moral of the story: spend the extra money and use Logan express or park at the airport. read more

Not Perfect, Room for Improvement but a valued service that tries to satisfy all. I use this company to take me to Logan airport every time I travel and I travel at least 10 times a year. I make appointments, they pick me up, they drive me to my destination at a fair and reasonable rate. They need to improve their credit payment system and some drivers need to polish their language skills a bit but overall a service I call every time I need a cab. read more

I was charged $15 dollars by Cristian for a ride from Hancock street in salem to speedway gas station on derby street in salem. Then asked for a ride back to Hancock street and as far as I know it's $12. 6 for a one way trip. So I was over charged 3 dollars for a round trip that took less than 5 minutes. Please let me know when the rates increased because this is news to me. read more

Considering what slim pickings there are in the Salem MA area for decent cab service, I had a good experience with this company once a while back. Unfortunately, their good standing didn't last long. I called five hours ahead requesting taxi service, and was instructed to call 20 minutes prior to pick up time. Which I did. I called back and was rudely informed that there were no taxi services at that time, and that they were not taking calls. I tried explaining that the person I had spoken to before had instructed me to call, and I was hung up on mid sentence. These people are rude an unprofessional. My experiences with Americab have been all positive. I've used them for both short and long (50+ miles) trips. They are always on time for prearranged trips, the drivers are courteous and the cars are far cleaner then their local competitor's. Recently, I called for a long trip and requested the driver wait and bring me back. They pulled a driver out of a staff meeting to accommodate the request. I couldn't ask for more. read more

Whoa! I would never ever recommend to use this taxi. I called a taxi after work to bring me home. I called them and asked them where my cab is, as they were running 20 minutes late from the 15 mins originally said. Dispatch was extremely rude and when i asked to speak to his manager he hung up on me. I called back because obviously I was not trying to walk home but when I simply asked the supervisor's name, he used some offensive language and proceeded to hang up on me. I am a frequent customer of their and if they treat their loyal customers this way, just imagine how they will treat you. Extremely offended. read more
