I wanted to find the very best places to go. Well so far, Mary Parker Antiques is the winner for me in Mobile. Mary is going to greet you and if you are lucky she'll give you the grand tour of the place. I felt very special walking around this place with her. It is a designer's dream because everything is so organized. There are thousands of items under one roof, but Mary has done a masterful job of putting alike things together. She has two rows of butter churners...imagine that! She has vinyl records and old print ads! You will find beautiful furniture, glassware and china. Since everything in the place is her inventory, all you have to do is mention what you are looking for and she will take you right to it. She has a huge collection of antique doors and windows for Pinterest projects! Hubby is not a fan of these sorts of places, but I promise you he spent an hour browsing and another 30 minutes getting to know Mary. Great prices and the largest selection around. Yesterday I found an item in Vintage Flamingo that I wanted to purchase. It had a tag sewn into the…read morecorner with the price of $6.99 written in marker on the tag. That was the only tag on the item. I asked the lady to hold it for me while I looked around. When I was ready to check out the lady was looking for the price. I told her it was on the tag in the corner and it was marked $6.99. Unbelievably the tag was gone. Another lady came up and said that was the price the vendor had paid. Well that was the only tag on it and someone had torn it off and not said a word to me about it as if I hadn't seen it. The lady called the vendor who said she was not going to sell the item. The lady who called the vendor was rude and said she'd rather not sell the item than not make any money from it. This is not the way that a legitimate business conducts itself. Any other business would have sold the item for the marked price and made sure in the future to have the correct price on the items it intends to sell. I like to support our small businesses, but I will no longer support Vintage Flamingo. I just can't get over the fact that they torn off the tag and then acted like there wasn't a tag on it! Buyer beware!

The environment is unpleasant; the floors are dirty, the carpets seem rotten, and the entire building has a heavy, musty odor. To make matters worse, there was a strong smell of marijuana during my visit last Saturday, which isn't surprising given the new management. If you're looking for overpriced storage unit leftovers, this is the place--otherwise, you're much better off yard sailing or visiting one of the many quality thrift stores in Foley.

Some small collectibles throughout, but most of that is probably better found at their estate sales, not in the gallery. Overall. I visited for the first time today and was automatically targeted as a suspicious shopper. It was…read morevery apparent and I have never felt like such "trash" before, bc that is what a thief is, trashy. I walked in, verbally and physically acknowledged the 2 shopkeepers, one who had the most cold look on her face, very unfriendly and looked at me in a suspicious manner. No smile. Never stopped looking at me until I walked away to the left of the store. She wasn't doing any task. She just stood, looking at me. The other lady, the same, but at least said hello. The one lady followed me through the entire perimeter of the store. Not once did she ask me, "Can I help you?" Not once did she say, "Are you looking for anything in particular?" If she had, I would have told her exactly what I was looking for. This, by the way, is the PROPER way to surveil your store to keep an eye on your customers. Not follow them around very apparently; that makes a very rude statement (non-verbal, of course) that says: I'm watching you. I've singled out you. It's inappropriate, it's not the correct and mannerly form to prevent shoplifting. I will never be back and I won't ever forget how u made me feel. Whether you purposefully wanted to make someone feel bad today, I will never know. But u did. Put up cameras visibly. Put up the large round mirrors. And yes, keep walking around your store. But talk to your customer. Ask them while they are in the store shopping if you can help them. Ask what they are looking for. Treat everyone the SAME or treat them like you care. Or pretend to.
