Don't waste your money I've had Car Shield for two years one claim and all of a sudden my wastegate solenoid on my turbo charger went bad. I sent them all my oil changes and an alternator service to them and they still denied me. I'm not sure what a service record would do to tell them when the wastegate solenoid is going to go out on my turbo charger. Don't waste your money put $100-$150 a month away to savings. I sent them all my oil changes and a couple other services that were done on my vehicle. Again how does a service keep your wastegate on a turbo charger from going bad?? I am a Carshield costumer, AAS is the policy administrator. I have a vehicle that needed a power control module. Even though the repair is supposed to be "fully covered" under my policy I am having to pay out of pocket for repair hours and the part because AASs "vendor is out of the part." I found a cheaper part at NAPA but AAS refuses to pay for it because it "is not their vendor." AAS also no longer pays upfront for rentals, they operate on a reimbursement only policy, even though the contract clearly states that they may pay for a rental. A customer cannot speak to an adjuster, supervisors never return calls and everyone I have spoken to has been extremely rude. During this repair process AAS has continuously caused delays, and put obstructions in the way of having the covered repair actually take place. Motor vehicles have two horns so when you honk, there is a high and low sound emitted, One of mine stopped working so when I honk, it is high pitched and not a loud sound. The claim was denied because the horn "worked." Transmission began having difficulty shifting. Took it to dealership who determined it was failing. Adjustor denied claim because Ford had a "technical service bulletin" on the problem so that mechanics knew how to fix. There is a sneaky clause in my contract that American Auto Shield will NOT repair failures if there is a Technical Service Bulletin on the item. It is NOT a recall, just information to the repair shop how to fix. Normally you get an approval code and start work on the vehicle. Not with this company! They need to send an inspector out (broken sway bar links and bad electronic brake control module) Customer had to rent a car. Monday, never got a call of when the Inspector would be here. If I could give them no stars I would. I took my vehicle into the shop due to no air blowing. Was advised by Sun Devil that the blower motor resister is bad, they then initiated the claim. I was contacted on Tuesday and advised that an inspector needed to go out and check my vehicle and could take up 2 business days. I was provided a rental and then advised on the today that the repair is not covered. The AC appeared to be blowing when the inspector checked my vehicle and denied my claim even though it is covered under my contract. Sun Devil advised me that the part will in fact go out again. I have 3 kids to drive around, living in Arizona where during the summertime temps are well over 100 degrees. I pay for a monthly service where the part is covered under contract, yet due to it happen to be working during the time of inspection briefly I am being told to pick up my vehicle and risk being in the heat. This does not make any sense. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau due to this. This has been the worst experience I have encountered with this company. I had an alternator go out in my 2010 Cadillac CTS. I took my vehicle over to the repair shop in town that accepted this company. The manager from the repair shop called the adjuster back so many times to get the claim started, they even gave them my customer information including the contract number and was told that the name didn't match. Excuse me! I am paying this company almost $100 a month for coverage for my vehicle for the past 2 years and they tell me this! I am ready to find another company that treats their customers alot better than this! On top of that now I have to get an attorney involved and sue the hell out of Carshield and American Auto shield because they refuse to work with me and the repair shop to get this resolved. Coming at this from the perspective of a shop owner. I have dealt with them many times for various customers. First of all most customer have given me feed back to the effect of, the people that sell you the contract WAY OVER PROMISE. So when it's time to make a claim they don't cover what is verbally promised. They sell you the contract over the phone and you don't actually get a copy of it till after the fact, of course by then who is going to read and try and decipher what is says. Second thing is the process time for this company is extra long, to place a claim usually you end up going through multiple people often asking the same questions. Then you'll have people put you on long holds several times. The claim I put in to day, for two common repairs on a single car had me on the phone for nearly and hour and a quarter. And that was after having filed the claim on there online system. Third it is surprising what they don't pay for, very selective. Fourth and last of all; In almost 40 years in the automotive business this is the only warranty of insurance company that has ever stiffed me. They sent me a payment link and it did not work. Numerous times I tried to rectify the situation with them. Some times I just could not stay on hold long enough to get through or got cut off or there business day ended. Other times I did get to some one who acted like I was trying to steel from them when I was just trying to collect on there promise to pay. More than once I was able to wear them down to the point they would say they would send me a new link to get paid and then no link email would come. The last time, after three months of trying to collect $218.89 on claim # A202215801, I was just told that the claim was too old. I will still work with this company as people have been sucked into it. Unfortunately I have to tell people that I am unable to released there car to them until the payment is made. Decided to get a warranty for my son's vehicle around January 4th. We needed to use the warranty in the middle of February. We called Car Chex to begin the warranty process and get his truck fixed. Had blown an engine. They put me in touch with American Auto Shield and that is where the problems begin! As of today, March 5th, nothing has been done with the truck. It's sitting at the garage up in Reno while nobody American idol shield has returned calls or sent anybody out to the garage to begin the process. The garage owner is waiting for them and he is made calls to American Auto Shield with no okay for the go ahead to begin working. I have been in contact with a representative, but that was 3 days ago and no updates by email or phone! Totally unprofessional! He says out of the 39 warranty companies that he deals with, this is the worst one by far! Also he mentioned to me that I will be nailed for these little petty fees! They will pay for the oil change, but not for the filter. They will only pay $300 in labor. heard loud knocking noise coming out of engine last week so i had my next door neighbor (who is a licensed mechanic) listen to the engine and said i should get it towed to a shop for inspection. i called aaa and had vehicle towed to we check engine here in las vegas. i called american auto shield and opened a claim (1023739). after 8 days of going back and forth (vehicle towed 7-7 and 7-14) they had all the documentation needed to proceed. i sent them several land rover receipts which showed the vehicle in perfect health from april 2020. on the 14th they sent an adjuster to listen to the vehicle. i then called american auto shield this morning to check for an update. they never called back but i did get a message from my mechanic. here is the response from terry enyart with american auto shield.... "good morning german, i left you a voicemail message moments ago. i wanted to verify you understand why we cannot authorized these items: water pump as inspected and was not leaking super charger snout coupler noise-noises are not listed for coverage and most importantly, the snout coupler is not an internally lubricated component and has a tsb fix for the design flaw. timing chain noise is also not coverable under mr rocco's contract as noises by themselves are not covered and there is a tsb fix for the design flaw. thank you" i have the platinum plan and nothing is covered. i spoke to the dealer who states... "a tsb is just a repair procedure on how to repair a specific issue and it is not a recall. the extended warranty company are aware of the tsb and should repair based on the guidelines set forth" now if i drive it and the timing chain or supercharger go out they will not cover it and only cover "lubricated components". the supervisor i just spoke with says not even the lubricated components will be covered now unless i fix the design flaw. please do not do business with this company unless you want to go through this. read more

I would like to warn potential customers that Car Shield does not honor their policy when it comes to issues that are related to normal wear and tear of the vehicle components that are mentioned in a Manufacturer Technical Service Bulletin or "TSB". This means that most of the parts of your vehicle, such as the engine, transmission, brakes, steering and so on, are not covered by Car Shield. Car Shield should follow the legal definition that states "Unlike recalls, manufacturers never cover TSB-related problems out of pocket unless there is a warranty. When it expires, this burden lies solely on the owner" and provide coverage for your vehicle. However, they use a loophole in paragraph 25 of their contract to deny any claim that involves a technical bulletin. My Ford F150 has over a hundred technical bulletins for various parts, so basically nothing is covered by Car Shield. This makes Car Shield a fraudulent company in my opinion. Please read paragraph 25 carefully and understand that when they say they don't cover parts that the manufacturer accepts responsibility for, they actually mean anything that has a technical bulletin. 25. Manufacturer responsibility: BREAKDOWNS as a result of a defect, product improvement or change that the VEHICLE manufacturer has announced as its responsibility by a public recall, technical service bulletin and/or special policy for the purpose of correcting such defect or product shortcoming. The sent an a/c compressor to the shop where my car is for the repair, and it was the wrong part. They do this twice and still haven't gotten my car fixed after having been in the shop for 12 days now. I never been passed to a supervisor or manager when I had asked multiple times. CarShield (American Auto Shield) is a hoax. About 7 weeks ago my wife and I decided to drive from Colorado to Miami. I saw a TV ad for CarShield and thought that it might be a good idea in case of breakdown along the way. I called the number and a very pleasant agent extolled the virtues of the CarShield Platinum program because my Chevy Colorado had less than 30,000 miles on it. The terms seemed reasonable at just about $120 per month with no contract obligation. The contract had a reasonable waiting period of 20 days AND 500 miles. Fast forward to our departure last Tuesday. Our second day out, 400 miles from home in the plains of New Mexico our air conditioner stopped working. We had to stop in Amarillo, TX because temperatures outside were approaching 100 degrees and we had our two dogs with us. We checked into a Hampton Inn near the Autonation Chevrolet dealership and prayed they could fit us in. Coby, the Service Advisor, said he would do what he could. Within 2 hours Coby called back and said that the AC compressor had failed. It would take him two days to get one in. From the very beginning we stayed in touch with CarShield. The first rep merely told us to go the the shop of our choice and get it repaired. She even tried to help us find a shop in Amarillo, but we got disconnected in rural NM. Every contact with CarShield since then has been a disaster. Every time we call they act lilke they have never heard from us before. Now CarShield is asking us to sit in a hotel room for days while they send an independent inspector to the dealership to confirm the compressor failure. CarShield refuses to commit to when this will occur, while at the same time refusing to commmit to cover the very trip interruption expenses that the contract states they will cover. This morning, in response to my Facebook posting which are promptly removed by CarShield, I get a response that says we are being inconvenienced because CarShield has been defrauded by dishonest mechanics. This "warranty" is the worst I have ever dealt with in 23 years of working with extended warranties. I have watched my co workers be put on hold for well over 45 minutes, just to be put on hold to speak with an adjuster. Mostly, we have seen most repairs are declined, or not paying the full amount of retail for parts and labor, leaving the guest to pay the remaining difference. Last night's phone call lasted over 78 minutes, only to be told an inspector will have to be sent out. Spoke with an escalation supervisor(?) who advised he was escalating this to a claims supervisor. By far the worst customer service ever. Hopefully my claim will get approved and paid but have no idea if it ever will. Run from this company! A one star rating is a gift! 5/17/21-despite a voice message from the "adjustor" on Friday stating that they need to send someone to see the vehicle, nothing yet. Despite speaking with another useless customer service representative who advised that the adjustor only speaks with the repair shop, no further updates. 5/18/21-Heard from dealership, adjustor had just left, took the test drive with the mechanic and was going to upload the information last night so the in house adjuster would be able to review. Hopefully some type of response tomorrow (5/19/21). read more
