Extremely Disappointing and Deceptive Company I found this company through a Google search when looking for movers for my recent cross-country move. Initially, I was quoted around $11,000 after providing an over-the-phone inventory of my household items. The estimate for my house was reasonable, ranging from $6,000 to $7,000, but the garage increased the total by approximately $4,000, since I have a full gym setup. In order to secure my move date, I was required to put down a deposit, which I believe was about 30%, totaling just under $2,800. However, I was informed by a representative named David that I could pay the remaining balance by credit card on the day of pickup--provided I paid in full at that time. I also inquired about the size of the truck, as I had moved myself the previous year and was aware that a 26' truck might not be sufficient. David assured me that a semi truck would be sent, based on the size of my house. I emphasized that anything less than a semi would not work, and he reassured me that a semi truck was indeed on the way. As the moving date approached, the company contacted me to conduct a verification inventory to ensure nothing was overlooked or added since the initial inventory. I did add a few items that had been missed, and the estimator noted that my "box count" was very low for a house of my size (about 30 boxes). I agreed to increase the box count based on their recommendation, adding another 60 boxes. I was then charged an additional deposit of about $600 the day before the move because of the added items. On the day of the move, the mover began acting like a salesman. He re-estimated the cost, claiming that he was giving me a discount by not charging for "bulky items" (such as a small dorm fridge, which I found hard to believe). He also said he wouldn't charge for stairs or the distance from the door to the truck. The new estimate skyrocketed to around $17,000 for the first truck, which was significantly higher than the initial $11,000 quote. Despite repeatedly stating that a 26' truck would be insufficient, they arrived with a 26' truck. The original estimate had only accounted for 1,500 cubic feet, while the truck's capacity was 1,700 cubic feet, meaning the estimate was even lower than originally stated. The mover confirmed that at least two trucks would be required to accommodate my belongings, meaning I would be expected to pay even more--on top of the $17,000. When it came time to pay, I was told that credit card payments were no longer accepted. Instead, they demanded $10,000 in cash before the move could begin. Since I did not have that amount available, they refused to start the move. I then called the company and informed them that I would have to handle the move myself and requested a refund of the approximately $3,400 I had already paid. They refused, claiming the deposit was non-refundable, leaving me with no choice but to cancel the move. Upon reflection, I realized that the company intentionally provided a low estimate to secure a substantial deposit, then once they had my money, they inflated the cost on the day of the move. If you're unable to pay the new inflated price in cash, they simply keep your deposit and move on. This is a deeply dishonest practice, and I strongly advise against doing business with them. Additionally, David also referred me to a company called "US PRO CAR SHIPPING" to ship my car from California to Florida. They pulled the same bait-and-switch tactic. I was initially quoted a flat $1,000 with a $250 deposit. However, the day before the pickup, they informed me that due to a lack of drivers and logistical issues, the new rate would be $1,700. The driver who eventually arrived told me that he was only receiving $1,000, and the extra $450 was simply a deposit fee charged by the company. The sales person is fabulous and extremely convincing that American Van lines would offer the best service out there. Unfortunately once you book with her, you never get to speak with her again and everyone that followed was rude extremely unprofessional, and the service got worse from there. They give you a great price to get you to book with them and the second they get to your house. They tell you they can't do the move for the same price. Then it's like extortion time with how much can we get from this person when you know they have no other options at this point. One of the things they had me pay for was a crate for one piece of furniture. They charge me $200 and their so-called crate was a box cut in half taped on the front of the glass with a blanket wrapped around it. Then they wanted $500 to put the washer and dryer on the truck which was included in the original price in the first place. All three men were of Hispanic descent, wondering if they were even legal they would not take the certified funds that the contract requested they wanted cash or a wire transfer. If I had not already paid them $2500 before they arrived to my house, I would've canceled on the spot and hired someone else but they know that they have you by the balls which is why they do what they do! I had scratches from Furniture being set on its side on concrete on my dining table my desk, my coffee table, and the very piece said they charge me $200 to crate! read more

SCAM! Incredibly shady business practice. Stay away from them if you see this. We were originally quoted $2100 for a move of a one bedroom apartment. We listed the amount of boxes/totes that we had and went over the inventory more than one time where they said they were over estimating and putting 50 boxes on the contract for us. They only allotted 280 cubic feet of space and upon arriving said they could only take twelve boxes and if we wanted our other things it would be an additional $4500. They have fraudulent business practices and if you see this please look elsewhere to save yourself a headache. We ended up backing out and losing our deposit which based on all these other reviews was the right decision since they break and hold your things hostage until you continue to keep paying more money. read more

They initially raised the price, claiming they had underestimated the amount of goods to be moved, increasing the total to approximately $14,000. Then, on loading day, the driver claimed the shipment required an additional truck, skyrocketing the price to $35,000. When the Morenos refused, the company callously warned that canceling would mean forfeiting their $6,000 deposit. Absolutely disgusting. read more
