I have moved a few times across state lines and have used moving companies each time. I have always had small issues here and there, but never did I feel like the companies I used were ripping me off...well with SEKA I definitely felt cheated and misinformed. The move itself went OK, but the sales person I spoke with initially definitely gave me a very low estimate. He knew I was shopping around with other moving companies, and my guess is he low-balled the qoute to get my business-and unfortunately he did! All the other companies I talked with gave me similar prices, but Alex's qoute from SEKA was so much lower than all the other companies, that should have been a red flag for me. The sales person never asked for pictures of my apartment, nor did he say facetime could be an option. He estimated that I would need 7 medium boxes to pack up my one-bedroom apartment. The movers ended up using a total of 22 boxes! How uniformed can you be as a salesperson to give such a terrible estimate. I ended up having to pay a very high price for the 15 extra boxes and packing service that Alex underestimated. I tried to talk to a manager later, Chris, who basically said that during one of the conversation I was told that the price of any boxes and services needed outside of the qoute COULD be at a higher rate. And that he would be more than happy to pull a recording of this. When I asked him why don't the sales persons offer the option of facetime to costumers, his response was that customers would have to ask for that option, and that it's never offered up by SEKA moving sales reps. Save your money and time and go with one of the more popular and reputable companies. read more

**READ BEFORE BOOKING, MIGHT SAVE YOU A LOT OF MONEY** The sales Rep provided me a quote for around $3400(around $1200 less than other movers, I was already impressed) and told me that if I have more boxes than estimated please let him know so that they can send the truck accordingly and adjust the price. I had extra 20 large boxes so I tried calling the sales rep multiple times to let them know but he was unreachable so I sent details in an email to him mentioning the extra boxes. I was expecting a couple of hundred bucks for additional boxes as the whole estimate of stuff with furniture was around $3400. The next day when the moving team came, they told me that they were not aware of the extra stuff so told me I would be charged penalty charges for those boxes. I tried reaching out to Sales Rep for an estimate for extra boxes but the team was unreachable, when I was finally able to reach someone from the Sales team kept telling me that he'll revert with the updated quote. (called at least 15-20 times that day to get a final quote) When almost half of the stuff was loaded in the truck he gave me an additional quote for $1800 and mentioned as it is last minute addition so penalty rates have been applied. After I mentioned that I already sent an email and informed about extra boxes, I was told by another sales rep that he'll come back with adjusted rates. Once the whole truck was uploaded, he called me and mentioned best he could do is $1500. Secondly, The supervisor of the mover crew was a super-super rude guy, even after paying $1500 extra he left stuff that I have to discard (like two-floor lamps, 2 small floor carpet,s and a 3-year-old small bike) as that stuff was not mentioned in the quote. Finally at the time of delivery of furniture. I was surprised to know that Seka will let me know the day of delivery only a day before and I have no say in choosing the day. So I had to buy a super expensive flight from NJ to NC a day before. Then in the evening the day before, I get a call from the crew that they got my stuff in 35 feet truck so they had to move my stuff to another truck that will cost me $800 extra. My house in north carolina is not even in any Narrow lane. It is a two-way big street next to Highway 55. The only good thing about the whole experience was the delivery Crew in North Carolina. They were super nice, humble, and professional. So in short - The biggest turn-off for me was, Super rude moving crew supervisor at NJ. - Secondly, $1500 for additional 20 large boxes with penalty rates. (Even I sent an email with details before the move) - $800 additional cost to move stuff to another Truck that I was told on the day of the move. (I should have been told about this by the Sales team before I signed the contract). So I end up spending $2200-$2300 extra + a lot of frustration and hours on the calls with customer care. read more

Our movers broke multiple pieces of our furniture. Overall, it went fairly smoothly until I discovered that, in addition to the furniture they broke and already told us about, they also broke my desk in multiple places. $900+ worth of furniture broken. I got a survey from SEKA and responded noting the damages and they have yet to respond after multiple follow ups. I had a really positive experience with them last time I used them and tipped my movers very well. So super disappointed with my experience this time, clearly the quality management has gone downhill. I recommend looking elsewhere. read more

First of all, two of the three movers were very rude. Additionally, they took many smoke breaks, which I generally wouldn't mind, except that our move went until 12:30 am because of that. Half of the plates in our boxes were broken. They did not properly assemble furniture at the destination or care where we wanted things. They had a terrible attitude and acted extremely annoyed all day and complained constantly about how hot it was even though we provided them with water and food. Most importantly, they significantly damaged our staircase and walls from the first to the second floor and even with that, still could not bring our bed upstairs, which then they just wanted to leave in the middle of our living room. Eventually, they put it in the garage so now we have to pay $1000+ for another moving company to come finish the job. Absolutely terrible experience. Not to mention that we had even more issues on the administrative side before the move even happened. Avoid. read more

How can you tell SEKA moving is good? We've moved with them twice. For many reasons... that should be a tell... Of course, a major reason is that they do a good job keeping my stuff in one piece. I used to think that Movers should be called Breakers, because that was their primary role. Not so with SEKA. They take a lot of care in prep, making sure that everything is well wrapped and protected. Then being careful getting into and out of the apartment. This is a major point: the guys just work so hard. I've had two different teams for my moves, and both times everyone on the team was full of hustle, ready to dive in, always saying 'yes'. No one complained when they learned exactly how heavy my piano is! A lot of that comes down to the leadership, and Beka was great. Hard worker, good leader, great sense of humor. Finally, it's just a good value. No, they are not the cheapest, but they are still less than much of the competition, and see earlier point about broken stuff. So good quality, hard work, AND good prices? Sign me up! Just not for a while. No more moves for a while! read more

I'm updating my review to 3 stars since Sam, the owner, spent the time to hear me out in my awful experience and kept his word by having my belongings arrive on time. My items showed up from NY safe and sound, on time, and nothing was damaged/missing. The movers showed up early at 8:30am and unloaded/had my bed set-up in 3 hours. They also were attentive to ask where things should go and were diligent in making sure my items were carefully unpacked. While the past few weeks with Seka hasn't been fantastic, I do hope that raising my concerns and the terrible experience I went through to Sam will help change the way they operate. I am extremely happy with how they resolved my issues and made sure my transition to LA was smooth. read more

I would leave Zero stars if I could. I hired them for a cross country move. I have over $12K in damages for furniture. I submitted a claim and they responded that they would be happy to reimburse me $750.00. All my rattan lawn furniture is all scrapped which can't be repaired. The worst is an antique coffee table w a glass top was packed and stored with the glass still in it it is shatter with a leg ripped off which can't be repaired. The handmade coffee table has a leg ripped off. A TV console less than a year old destroyed. The bill was 27k and they want me to accept a $750.00 settlement for damages. All the boxes were barely marked so as I opened them a majority of them were placed wherever. The local guys who delivered the furniture were very kind and hard working. I can not encourage anyone to utilize this moving company! Here are a few of the items that arrived at my home .The second photo is a handmade table with the leg ripped off. I cannot express more of how awful of an experience my move was. My movers came 3 and a half hours late because someone was "sick" and took 4 hours to move out of just my current two bed because they took 30 min smoke breaks between each small load. They also broke my desk, were extremely rude and barely spoke English which made communication very difficult. I was promised when I got my quote that they would send movers that knew how to install an AC unit. After uninstalling my AC unit, my movers left all the tools and screws of my AC unit and bed frame back at my old apartment. This meant I had to go back to my apartment to retrieve the items they forgot. The ended up staying at my apartment til midnight and ended up telling me they actually do not know how to install an AC unit, but do not want there boss this. I had to sleep with no AC and finish putting my bed together myself after they complained they were tired and wanted to go home after they demanded for a side deal of higher pay. They also told us that it was their 5th day on the job and they have never been movers before. I will never use Seka Moving again and will never recommend it to people in the future if these are the kind of people the are hiring. I felt disrespectful, cheated, and when I spoke to their boss on the phone, I got equal disrespect from him. This was an expensive disappointment and made for an awful moving experience. read more

From start to finish, my experience with Seka Moving was excellent. I spoke with George who gave me a fair price for my longer-distance move within NY, and calmed my nerves about making this move. I never felt I was asking too many questions, as he was ready and willing to respond to my concerns or requests. He even changed the schedule so the movers, Vano and Gio, would arrive in the early morning than the afternoon, which as a big deal as they were driving at least 5 hours from NYC to get to my place. Gio and Vano took such great care in transporting my many boxes and furniture to my new home (and doing this in 90 degree weather!) Although one item was left behind, George had it delivered to me within three days. He communicated with me by​ phone, email and text to assure that I knew what was happening. The movers were good with wrapping everything but very slow. They took a lot of breaks including one only 20 mins into the move. Vlady was the contact person throughout the move and was constantly mentioning tips. Of course I was leaving a tip, one that was well over the recommended 20% but being reminded at least 10 times was a bit annoying. Also at the end they offered me $50 off the final price only if I gave them 5 stars on 3 different platforms right at that moment. I let him know that I was running late and maybe later but he kept insisting that I do it and not leaving. This made me feel very uncomfortable and the only way I got him to leave was by threatening to leave a bad review. I don't think that it's right that this company uses bribing for their reviews. After the move I also notice weird wave when I turned on my tv. I made a complaint and followed up, still haven't heard back. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because the other movers were very nice. read more

Warning - Seka can RUIN your move OUT OF NY. They don't have enough movers and are subcontracting your job outside NYC to low cost vendors. I've moved 40 times - seem a lot - and this was the worst by far. They guys they gave my job to were worse than if I found random people of Craigslist. I was fooled by the great reviews into thinking they quality would be good. But no. Once my stuff was in their hands, service went downhill fast. Use Roadway Movers. Or use Seka to load, Upack to ship, and top rated local team for unload. Wanna see the details, read below. Unload Team - Didn't finish the job. Refused to. Walked out. - Yelled at me at the START of the move - Kept demanding cash payments when Seka had my card - One guy refused wear his mask correctly - didn't pay to get COVID - that's part of the reason people are moving away from NY - Showed up early, said he didn't care about the 1 hour notice - Refused to talk to the building front desk or follow the process for movers - Demanded the client show them everything, even though I told them my body had a chronic illness - List what client does for them - I was on bedrest by doctor for 3 days after - due to what happened - Also vomited 3 times and almost passed out from the stress (I've moved 40 times - nothing like this has ever happened before) - Refused to assemble the furniture - Refused to unwrap the shrinkwrap Seka Internal Team 1. Sent the stuff to arrive 2 days before the home was ready. 2. 4 different vendors had to be rescheduled to get painting, floors, etc. done 3. Yuriy A. at Seka messed up the date. When I told him the issue. No apology. No empathy. 4. Seka has so much business and money coming in from people leaving NYC, they are going through the motions 5. George B.- his boss was copied on emails about the messed up date. Never once replied. Said he's too busy with so many emails. - Day of Unload: George got involved because the unload team was so terrible. But not much he can do when his company hired such a bad team. When the guys left without finishing the job, he suggested a I filed a claim. Felt like Seka was going to redeem themselves and someone and had started to care. 6. Claims: Steven R. - Ignored what I said. Accused me of trying to make them liable for other things, when so far, their company fully handled the move. I asked twice to be connected with a manager. He refused. Didn't care and stopped replying - instead he just marked the move as "completed" for Seka although Seka didn't finish the job. 7. I sent pictures to George the day of the move showing damage done and work left unfinished. 8. Due to the delays, I had to stay in a hotel 3 days longer. 9. Due to being bedridden, I didn't work for 3 days. 10. Claims cared about none of it. 11. Stopped replying when it around 5 pm and marked the move as completed. If you are moving out of town, AVOID THIS DRAMA - Here's what's better 1. Use Roadway Movers - They are able to handle the volume - Know people with a great long distance move experience. 2. If you must use Seka - ONLY use them for loading. Once your stuff is on their truck, that's when things get bad. You do: - Seka - Loading only - UPack - Ship it. Used them before. You stuff comes on time. - Unload - Use local movers that are well rated. Ended up having to pay local movers to finish the job when Seka closed it, didn't pay for the damage, or additional costs due to their negligence. I was fooled by the reviews. Today was our sixth move with the Seka team. Unfortunately, we have had some negative experiences with the onsite team's customer service recently. In particular there has been repeated attempts to charge extra for aspects of our move that have been confirmed with our initial contract. During the latest move, the leader of the moving team made it my responsibility to call and discuss the issue in question with a customer service representative rather than taking the time to call and confirm details themselves. The previous time (fifth move), I had to insist the moving team leader call their dispatch to confirm that our contract had listed the specifics they were trying to charge extra for. The last two moves there have also been instances of asking nosey questions "how much does it cost to live here?", positioning themselves to make extra cash, and saying rude things, such as "we're not your slaves". Seka has taken good care of our belongings and provided good customer support when I've called, so it's been surprising to have these interactions, especially when the onsite team has been very helpful and easy to work with in the past. read more

I've used moving companies before where they're non-communicative, have poor professional educate and/or were just outright sloppy. I used them over a year ago, and for a long time I did not feel comfortable leaving a negative review for my own safety. But I do feel like it's important to warn others about what happened. When I called to book, the person who schedule it for me was very kind and professional. However, the move itself was a nightmare. I was very specific that I needed to be out of my house that day by 5pm otherwise I would have to pay a fee to the buyers of my home. I was assured I would be that crew's first move of the day and they would be out by that time. Well, the "crew" they sent were two people to move an entire home's worth of stuff. They showed up way later than expected, and did not finish until nearly 8pm. They were also missing a lot of things on their list that I said I needed moved. They kept telling me they were going to have to charge me extra. Thankfully I had saved the email confirmation of the booking which listed everything that I said needed to be moved. The truck they had was very small and I ended up needing to pack some of the stuff in my own car. When they got to my new house, one of the men kept making weird comments to me. He saw that I had three boxes of books and said, "it's unusual for beautiful women to read so much." He asked if I was single, etc. He really creeped me out. By this time, it was nearly 11pm and I was exhausted and nervous. When they were finally done I gave them the agreed upon amount and the suggested tip amount. The guy who had been flirtatious with me before suddenly turned on me and asked if that was all I was tipping them. I said yes and it was what the company suggested. He told me he had done a lot for me and was expecting more. I'm not sure what he was talking about because all he did was the agreed upon job. He suddenly got very angry, glared at me, and stormed out slamming the door. He started the truck and sped off. I never got a chance to check the truck to make sure all of my stuff was actually moved in. I was also terrified all night, as I am a young female who lives alone and now these two guys who were obviously very angry with me knew where I lived and that I was alone. I tried reaching out to the company and I never heard anything from them. They didn't seem to care about my experience once they had gotten their money. There are plenty of moving companies and I highly recommend going with a different one. read more

Great overall experience with the SEKA Moving team. From the initial quote to the day of the move, everyone was extremely professional, informative and helpful. Peter from Sales handled my intake and walked me through options, including use of their storage facility. He was accommodating, and the prices were really reasonable. When I realized I had a few more items than originally mentioned, On the day, Ika and his crew were excellent. They handled everything with care, worked fast, wore masks, and were always pleasant and professional despite navigating two flights of narrow stairs on a hot day.
