Scammers don't use this company. I used them for a move and they cost me over $280k worth of damages. Also they try to charge me for storage fees a few days before my storage fee bill was due when they gave me 3 months of free storage. They also changed the moving price on me. They charged me $14k for two apartments and they only did 1 apartment only and they didn't care to refund me the money for the other apartment that they didn't do. This is the worse company. They don't know how to pack good all they did was throw everything in they didn't care how delicate some things was. My beautiful $4000 dollar mirror ruined while in their storage facility in New Jersey. They didn't use proper care and they definitely didn't store my stuff in a storage that is temperature controlled. This company uses storage facilities in New Jersey and they make you go through hell just to be able to see your stuff and the storage company charges you just to see your own things. This is the second time I have used this company, the first back in 2023. They did an alright job in 2023, and as I was in a very stressful situation, they did what needed to be done. Though, if I hadn't had things in storage with them, I would not have used them again as I remember how scammy their services felt the first time. In short, this company will nickel and dime you for every single thing they do and double their estimate to you. I recently resolved a dispute with them (quoted $800 over the phone and charged $1600 on move day), but on top of the fact, they provided me with no contract where I signed and agreed to pay for all the additional things they charge (my mistake, lesson learned). I ended up settling on $1250 for the move, and they're sending the money back through Zelle which is also odd. Putting a complaint in through 311 for an overcharge was my best defense. I had some hanging clothes that they put in wardrobe boxes and for some stupid reason, they put my side tables in wardrobe boxes too UNPROTECTED next to a metal shelf, underneath heavy (approximately 10lb. each) bags of clothing, etc. instead of blanket wrapping them like typical movers I've used before. Because of their incompetence and carelessness, they broke a marble top side table from Anthropologie. We were extremely disappointed with the moving experience today, as we were ultimately charged over $400 above what was the original estimate. Contrary to the terms of your below contract, we were not provided with a revised estimate that your contract says we have to be made aware of by the foreman and agreed to before services can even begin. Instead, we arrived at our new home (after the move already started) and while the furniture was still in the truck, we were told that we had to agree to this new bill or else they would not deliver our furniture. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After an extended conversation on the phone with Kevin, from management, where we explained your estimate and representations to us, which was that the $750 were inclusive of fees and taxes and blankets, and so forth, we were responded to extremely rudely and with no true explanation of why these fees were added.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their contract very clearly says that there are no hidden fees and costs, and provides exact outlines for when additional fees may occur. Here, none of those rules were respected, and instead we were forced to accept a much higher fee, almost double of what we originally agreed simply because otherwise our furniture would not get delivered. Beware of this company. They are crooks. I was quoted a price of $400. The movers did not arrived on time and then took more than was told to take. Imperial also tried to charge me double than what I was quoted. After a long back and forth, it was stated that my total would $547. When I looked at my invoice yesterday, the deposit was not deducted. I was then told that the $50 would be returned to my card. Then next thing I know, I get a new invoice which shows the wrong amount again and the so called dispatch manager tried to say that my original price was over $600 and with the $50 deposit being deducted brings the total to the $547. That is 100% incorrect. They still did what they wanted to do to take my money. A bunch of CROOKS! It's not the $50 that upsets me, it's the principle behind it all and how this company rips people off and charge you more than what was stated and quoted. Comically bad service. I chose them based on the smooth sales pitch. That was a mistake. 1. The movers were 1 1/2 hours late. The foreman arrived around 10:15am (vs. 9am promised), looked around, and only came back to start moving with a team of 4 (vs. 5 promised by sales) at 10:40am. 2. There was a lengthy period from about noon - 4pm when very little got moved from one apartment to the other (move was to across the street). By 3pm my husband decided to move stuff himself. We also noted at the end of the move that his edible weed candies were missing. Could be related or separate incidents. 3. They bashed up my refrigerator, and the dresser wasn't padded in the move and got some scrapes (pictures attached). 4. They were hired to put stuff away, but it was mostly dumped in piles. 5. They didn't finish moving everything from my prior apartment. I called for them to complete the service the next day. The sales guy (after mixing me up with another irate customer) then asked me to pay more to complete the service. I said no and had to hire two people to move the dishwasher and finish putting everything away (for a much more reasonable price). Some of the things left behind included part of the refrigerator, curtains, bathroom stuff. They offered a partial refund for the incomplete service, but only offered $126 for the damaged refrigerator (very hard to close the doors now, over $1000 in damage if I replaced the broken parts), and nothing for the stolen property. The worst moving experience I ever had. The move-out was unpleasant but nothing too horrible. The move back in was beyond any nightmare I could have imagined. The company did not bring any material to cover my brand-new floors (the reason why I had my entire apartment moved out and then back in). When I asked the foreman, he tried to gaslight me by saying I needed to ask for floor covering! I would expect a professional moving company to know what to bring and can't believe floor covering isn't standard even if I hadn't just had my floors done. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called the office 3 separate times during the move. Each time they said they'd call me back but never did[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]One person asked me to put the foreman on my phone![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They did eventually get the foreman to put flat boxes on my foyer floor but the movers continued to roll dollies through my apartment. I was shocked when I noticed the foreman was taping the boxes to my floor with packing tape. He also balled up packing tape, and stuck it to my floor and my front door to hold the door open. I cried out in alarm and he said, "Your belongings are in the hallway. You can move them in yourself!". [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called the company and asked for a supervisor. No callback[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I was stuck with this aggressive person in my home for 2.5 hours. He did so many things wrong I had to keep following him and correcting him which was beyond uncomfortable. I supplied them with shoe covers which they wore inside and outside of my apartment making them useless. They installed my dishwasher without the clamp that is required to prevent water from leaking into my cabinet. They didn't even leave the clamp so now I need to get a new one for the plumber installation. They may have broken my $1900 refrigerator. They took the door off to move it and likely put it back on wrong. They were shoving it and applying a lot of force and left with it askew. When my plumber came to reconnect the water, he plugged it in and because the doors are misaligned the ice/water feature doesn't work, the unit will not get cold and continues to beep as if the door were open. We had to unplug it and I now have to hire another service contractor to look at it. In the meantime, I'm without a refrigerator going one 1 week. They also lost the cord to my peloton and told me they put it somewhere they did not. I now need to replace it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I've emailed and called the office and have been disappointed by their lack of concern. They actually told me that they never had a complaint about the foreman who threatened me[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I asked for a credit to get my items repaired and/or replaced and instead, they will only agree to send more potentially incompetent and insolent people to my home. Even after a walkthrough and a quote that was "never going up", this business ADDED $500 at the END of our moving service without warning stating that we had more items than originally agreed upon to move. For context- we were a business, showed the quoter everything we had and then SOLD many items to the general public the day before the move- so they had LESS to move than initially agreed upon. I've never written a negative review on a company because I always assume maybe I just got them on an off day, but our experience was so bad that I thought I should at least let others know some of the "fine print" so that you can do some additional research before booking. We have moved across the country a few times and I'd recommend CA-NY Express movers if possible -- we had a good experience with them but they were unavailable for our move from NY to LA. * Day of the Move: The movers showed up 8 hours late (at 5pm) and were in our building until midnight moving our stuff out. This violated our building policy because you cannot move out after 4pm. We never thought this would be an issue since we had confirmation that they'd be there at 9am. To top it off, the driver blamed us and said that our printed confirmation of arrival time was wrong... ok. * Waiting for our Stuff: The contract specifies that they can take between 4-14 business days to arrive. It took 24 days (16 business days) for our stuff to actually arrive. They do offer to compensate you $15/day (not much in my opinion) for each business day they are late. We asked for our $30 refund over two weeks ago and are still waiting. * Day of the Delivery: Again, they were late by 5 hours on a time they committed only 24 hours before. The movers showed up in an 18-wheeler, which we were never told what type of truck they'd be in. Obviously, an 18-wheeler will block traffic on most streets (?) and we were told that in order to get our stuff we'd have to give $1,000 cash that day so they could secure a smaller truck. Some of our stuff was dinted and not put together correctly, such as my son's crib. Honestly, I didn't even notify them of the broken furniture because the experience with their customer service was so bad that I just want to be done with them and not have to go back and forth over email like before; my sanity is worth more than my dresser (shown below). The in-between customer service is also seriously lacking -- I wouldn't say that anyone at the company is overly-friendly except the Sales department. When you email them questions, they respond with highlighted parts of your contract and not direct answers. At one point, while waiting for our stuff to arrive, I actually was laugh-crying because of how awful the customer service was when asking a simple, "Is there an updated ETA? We are beyond the ETA previously provided." I am sure this company delivers furniture with a better experience for others -- based on their reviews -- but if you are considering them for long-distance I'd ask a lot of questions upfront and consider other options. In our three experiences with their services the packers themselves were generally efficient and careful during the move, but in the last instance, they broke our couch's leg. The company compensated us $50. However, they consistently arrived late, even with a morning slot. I would give the packers themselves a rating of 4. They are efficient, honest and hardworking people. The reason for this rating is their tactic of promising a specific quote and then, at the time of payment, changing the terms and requesting more money, attributing it to a misunderstanding on our part. This happened twice, despite clarifying details with the representative. Our oversight was not getting it in writing. Initially, when this occurred, we managed to reach the original representative by phone, confirming the agreed-upon terms and subsequently paying what was promised. However, during the second instance, the company claimed they couldn't contact the original representative and asserted it wouldn't make a difference anyway. Regrettably, we had no choice but to pay the revised amount. What made matters worse was the representative presuming we hadn't read the "fine print" and, during the argument, mocking our understanding of it. We used Imperial Moving & Storage for a local move in downtown Manhattan in late Sep 2021. Our contact was Mario. We had a two bedroom apartment that needed to be packed and moved. Many of the large furniture items didn't need to be packed or moved, so keep in mind this was just for boxing our personal affairs mostly. They were scheduled to come the day before to pack but arrived three hours late so they only had a couple of hours to pack into the early evening. The day of the move they also arrived late which became an issue--in NYC, buildings only allow moves to occur during certain times, and we only had until 5pm to use the elevator. This created a situation where they were still packing until 3:00 and rushing. They packed up the TV last...only wrapping it in a moving blanket. On the other end, they made us pay for the move before finishing unloading. The foreman kept saying, 'this is it, we are almost done'. Meanwhile some items like the TV were not brought up. He waited till the very last to bring up the TV because they knew they had dropped it (huge dent on the corner and TV falling apart). The crew did a nice job acting surprised when they finally unwrapped the TV. In addition, they also banged up our walls including two dents and rips in brand new wallpaper in our new place. Now, of course, it's incredibly difficult to get responses from the moving company. We have called and/or emailed 6 times and have managed finally to get Kevin on the phone. Three weeks later and we are still being given the run around. Accidents happen, it's what we do to rectify those accidents that reflect true character. We were first impressed by how quickly and expertly our stuff was picked up for a move from NYC to the Midwest. The movers were absolute machines. It was a big job though and there were some hiccups. Imperial really earned 5 stars with the customer service to address a couple issues. When it comes time to pay the head mover pretended not to speak English to confuse you on the invoice and additional charges they were adding. They were 2 hours late. The "manager" reeked of alcohol, one of the other guys had a slight whiff. They took a 25 minute break, but pretended they didn't. Received estimate in advance and on the day of move - they charged my credit card 25% more! After speaking with customer service, they agreed to refund me the error but it would be sent via check in a month (quote: "We send checks once per month on the 3rd week of the following month"). Why not credit my credit card that they charged the very same day? They also said a $50 deposit would be deducted from the total and it was not. The movers were decent but this company has deceiving payment practices that left a bad taste in my mouth. Buyer beware! read more

Probably the worst experience i have ever had with a company. we called for a quote over a month in advance to our move date. leading up to the move date which was today(july 2nd 2024) at 11, we called numerous times to confirm arrival time and departure time and upon every phone call we were under the same impression that the arrangement was secure and there were no issues. as of this morning the first time we called, we were told the movers were on their way, after two hours had gone by, we called again as it was minutes before 11. on this phone call we were told the truck had apparently never left and was not operational and they were no longer coming. They said they had "just" found out that their truck was no longer coming... and that the movers driving the vehicle were not relaying the information. They are either lying or so uncoordinated they don't know their own ass from the elbows. This company felt no obligation to call their paying customer and relay that there was a major issue happening and the move was no longer happening. we had paid the security deposit weeks ago securing the quoted price given for the move. If we had not been paying attention and calling to our best efforts we would have been left high and dry without a single word from them. we are now left paying double the price for another moving company due to the short notice of the move. on top of this, the company is not willing to comp any of our wasted time, money, or stress throughout this process. all they can say is "sorry" "i hear that your upset". when a business says they are going to do something you do it, if that plan doesn't work, you do your best to fix it, not leave first time customers with a horrible experience and no resolution. if you want a smooth moving experience, do your self a favor and hire another company. they'll take your money and your time and not have a care in the world. read more

I'll start by saying that the list of things I planned to move ended up growing after my quote so I knew that the $750 quote for 4 hours would end of being slightly inaccurate. There was a blizzard the day before and the day I was supposed to move so Imperial called me to confirm they would be there. I told them I would have a few extra items like a love seat I wanted to bring, they said it didn't matter cause I'm paying hourly. Then they proceed to tell me that because of snow my move will probably take an extra few hours and I would have to pay for that. I have to pay because you choose to operate in a snow storm? My being responsible for mother nature was the first red flag. But what was I to do? Most NYC move-out dates aren't exactly flexible. I paid for 3 movers and really only saw 2 doing any moving while 1 stayed in the truck. In fact, a few hours in I finally went out to the truck and saw him-- he hadn't yet stepped foot in my apartment. They had a legal parking spot directly in front of my building so not sure why I was paying for a mover not to move anything. Keeping guard over my stuff on my small West Village block? I also walked every one of the 35 gorilla bins I had rented and put outside the apartment door to make it easier on the 2 movers. The lead mover probably brought up giving a good tip at least 6 times. Uncomfortable and unprofessional but times are tough so I just kept letting it roll off my back. My contract says that basic assembly/disassembly are included. Well cabinet doors were screwed on inside out or not at all, saying they couldn't finish or they'd have to charge me more as it's not included. No where in my contract did it say that large bags weren't able to be moved so then I'm told they all have to be shoved into boxes-- that will cost me between $37-$60 for a freaking cardboard box. Nothing was fragile, forcing me to use these boxes was ridiculous. At the end of the day, my total bill was $1000 OVER my quote. I was so exhausted and over it that I paid it just so I could sit alone on my couch and cry. Gave a cash tip which was very generous based on my original quote but wasn't good enough and I was pressured to wire him more money. I PACKED MY ENTIRE APARTMENT BY MYSELF AND EVERYTHING WAS READY WHEN THEY ARRIVED. There are moving companies that will pack and move all your stuff for $1500, don't make my mistake. read more

The key points: $17118 in just monetary damages alone Clear violation of federal laws on not offering Full Value Coverage Demanding a cash ransom just to see our belongings. Packaged a $4000 TV by folding a piece of cardboard over it Multiple bribery attempts by the CEO to remove my Yelp and Google reviews, starting with a "promise" of $50 Delivered our belongings in the middle of the night (10pm-midnight) with just 10 minutes notice. Did not offer us a copy of the receipt. We had to take a pictures. Stacked glass panels, art pieces, and flat panel TV in a box with no padding 2 weeks delivery delay with no warning or communication Broke our contractual delivery window Left boxes behind during pickup yet demanded a cash tip of $300 Multiple lies and repeated non-communication by the entire staff, starting with Avi Turgeman, the CEO To date, refuses to compensate me for ANYTHING If you are not scared yet, I do not know what will. If you ever speak to Avi Turgeman, the CEO, as I did, do not believe a single word he says. He is a liar and a sleazy businessman. DO NOT fall trap to any smooth talking. When dealing with our case, he conveniently left the country for a week while our delivery was already delayed 1 week without notice. And after delivery, he completely disappeared after we paid him his money. Even more unbelievable is the shameless bribery by Avi. He verbally suggested $50 if I would remove my Yelp and Google reviews. And this was when he had no idea when our belongings would be delivered! He asked me AGAIN the next day. Then almost two weeks after our delivery, Avi had his operations manager ask me if he refunded my moving costs, would I remove my Yelp and Google reviews. This was after demanding a cash ransom in the middle of the night, breaking $6500 worth of our items, causing us over $8000 of unplanned hotel and childcare costs! UPDATE Oct 2018: After a great deal of effort, I managed to get their insurance company information to submit a claim. Not surprisingly, since Imperial never offered me full value coverage (violating US DOT CFR 49B§375B.201(b)(c)), they offered me $198 for over $6500 in property damages.
