I wish I could leave no stars and I never used American Commodore. I used them an eternity ago for my prom tuxedo and honestly everything worked out great. My buddy used them for his wedding and I was a groomsmen and again everything worked out fine. So this time it was my wedding and i told my fiancé that we should use them. First appointment was ok. I was told I needed to pay 60.00 as a down payment. They said I could apply that to a groomsmen tux, I said no it's ok they are all paying in full. I was told that I would get my money back then when they all were paid. Ok fine no biggie. I went back for my first fitting. Literally couldn't get one piece of clothing one. Shirt too tight, vest couldn't even be snapped, couldn't get my jacket on. Pants wouldn't zip up and looked like I was in a flood. The shoes actually fit. So there's that. I was told it happens every time. Was remeasured. Was told the tux would be in the week of the wedding. My fiancé of course was very nervous and wondered why I wouldn't get the tux before than in case we had another mishap. Was told by the rep there this is all common. If there's an issues they would overnight my stuff. Went with my groomsmen to their fitting. They all paid in full. I asked a girl there about my return of my down payment. Was told I wouldn't get that back until all tuxedos are returned. I said that's not what I was told before? She said that the previous manager there was incorrect. Again ok no biggie. Wedding week! Awesome! Yay! My stuff comes in. Go to try everything on. The pants were very dirty, white dirty stains on them that I don't think I have to explain that my worry was that they were from someone's fluids. Disgusting. I was told they would get me another pair. Thank you! Another pair comes in. I go to try them on, and they literally were the longest pants I have ever had and frayed on the bottom. I was told they would get me another pair. This is a couple days away from my wedding by the way. Multiple people in my wedding party all were missing parts of their tuxedos. The day of my actual wedding I had to have one of my groomsmen meet the assistant manager at a location in Solon so they could get about 4 pairs of pants, and a tuxedo jacket. This is exactly what I wanted to deal with on my wedding day. It's not like I had other things to do right? Well my 4th pair of pants finally fit. A groomsmen pants and jacket fit. Another groomsmen pants fit. One of my groomsmen pants however did not fit whatsoever. I kid you not, we had to buy shoelaces to tie his pants up so they wouldn't fall down. Our wedding photos with him it, they are just so bad. I look back now and yes I laugh, but it's because I laugh at how bad the experience with American commodore was. Back to the down payment! I called American commodore asking about it being returned. They said that yes I get it back, but the girl was not sure how to do it, to come in. So I did just that after the wedding and honeymoon. I go in with my bride and ask about it. I kid you not the two younger girls were extremely rude and laughed at me. With no sympathy or empathy we're like nope. You don't get it back. The down payment goes towards their measuring, and the services they provide. WAIT WHAT?! I decided that since these were the girls I worked with previously maybe I should reach out to the corporate office? Someone there has got to understand this situation and provide me with the truth right? So I sent basically all the above to them. Asking for someone from corporate to contact me, the women at the store have constantly given me different answers and have made it clear they were new, so maybe they were incorrect? I gave American Commodore another chance to help a customer. I sent the email to their website. Waited....waited...waited...nothing. This has been hands down the worst customer experience I have ever had with any company ever. I have no idea how they don't even reply to an email. Anyone I know who is getting married will be told this story and to stay clear. Absolutely disgusted with how they have treated a playing, loyal customer. I do need to edit my review. I was contacted by Dena with American Commodore and she was able to confirm that I was indeed owed my down payment back. She issued the money back to my account and all is well!! I wouldn't recommend this place. They were impossible to get a hold of and they messed up 10/11 suits that we ordered for our wedding. The morning of the wedding everyone was scrambling around to go pick up their missing pieces. On top of the craziness it cost $250 for each suit, it was a disaster. read more

Ordered Tux for wedding 8 months in advance. The groom's tux had not arrived the day before. After some discussion they reordered for him and had it shipped overnight. (Big stress) The ring bearers tux was several sizes too small - his pants were about 5 inches above his shoes. The father of the bride had a vest that was 3 sizes too big and a jacket that was a size too small. The father of the groom's tux was too small. They all looked like they had gotten the clothes at goodwill and took whatever they had. read more

This is the worst rental company I've ever dealt with. They had 2 months advance notice to get the suits ready. When i went in for measurements i had to tell the girl measuring me to do my arm length which is simply inexcusable if that is your job and i have to tell you how to do it. Then they get the suits in 2 days before the wedding and they don't fit. They didn't give us even 50% refund for suits that they messed up. Extremely poor quality product. My son rented his first and last tuxedo from here. The night before prom, per their instructions, he went to pick it up and the sleeves on the jacket were too short. The clerk said there was enough in the sleeve to let out but she was not a seamstress, so he would have to come back the next morning. He and my husband went the next morning and they just decided to put him in an extra tall jacket, but the sleeves were STILL too short. There was enough to let out, and they said it would be done in an hour. An hour and a half later, they went back and the jacket was still not ready. They went to lunch, came back and still had to wait. As they were finishing up, another young man complained that he didn't get the shoes he was supposed to get. And yet another young man had problems - the only thing that fit was the shirt. As they were walking out of the store, a clerk ran out after my husband and son with his pocket square. The night before was my daughter's prom. One or her friends attempted to rent his tuxedo from there as well. His shirt was the only thing that fit him. It was also the second time this friend had problems with a tuxedo from American Commodore. I called the store, and spoke to the Assistant Manager, Ben. I got the typical lame response, that this is not how they like their business to be run, it's been especially busy this year (oh, are promos on May new????), they have quite a few new employees, blah, blah, blah. He asked me what I would like done. A discount would be nice for all the trouble, but what I really want is for this to not happen again; to make sure employees know what the heck they're doing. He made it sound like this was a one time issue. This wasn't an anomaly, this is systemic! For the money spent on a tuxedo rental, he'd have been much better off buying a tux! read more

My son recently married and we used American Commodore for the tuxedos. The experience was terrible and I would never recommend this store to anyone!! Most of the promises made during the initial visit were all broken once we paid for our tuxes including a showing that never took place, tuxes that were to arrive weeks early to insure all fit correctly, and the biggest lie that they would remove all the stress from the bride and groom. They never arranged the promised showing. The tuxedos arrived a few days before the wedding and most of the tuxes didn't fit right on the first attempt and several were wrong on the second attempt. There was missing items (including pants!!) and one groomsman had a terribly wrong shirt that was an obvious mismatch with all others in the wedding party. The staff seemed indifferent about the mess and all the stress they caused to my son and daughter in law just days before their big day. Horrible experience overall and I would recommend NOT using this store. read more

This has to be the worst rental establishment around. The manager, Chelsea, ignored me for a good three minutes while I was waiting at the register while she and some other young lady played on their phones, talked, and cast evil glances. She finally found her way up to the register, began fumbling through some notebook, looked at her phone again, then finally said "Can I help you?" like a waitress at some dive diner while chomping something in her mouth. I said I was there for my fitting, she got on the computer, and had a VERY difficult time using your system. She said "You're not in here", then began to stare at me again like I was just supposed to say "Okay" and walk out. I asked if she had my sisters name in there and she found it, then had to have someone else put me in because she did not know how to do it. I was FINALLY in the computer and was taken back to get fitted. I was fitted, returned to my fitting room to change back into my regular clothes, exited the fitting room and NOTHING. Not a "Thank You", not a "See you soon", nothing... the staff here truly has NO idea what Customer Service is. read more

I was a Maid of honor in my friends wedding and I assisted her with all of her planning! We went to a bridal show at the IX center and booked that day with American Commodore Tuxedo! We received an amazing deal that no other company came close! Everyone was smiling, friendly and very helpful! We went in a week later to start picking out the tuxedos and worked with Nick!! He was very helpful we decided that the groom would buy his tuxedo and everyone else would rent. After we left it dawned on us that he was receiving the free rental. My gf called up there and spoke with Nick and he said no worries we were able to split the grooms tux between everyone and get even more money off. We couldn't believe it. That was so amazing!! They called her 3 weeks out from the wedding letting her know who had been sized and thank goodness everyone had because we thought we would have some slackers lol! They also went over everything everyone was wearing and even who had paid or not!! This was very nice and made us feel like they really cared about her day! We picked up 2 days prior to the wedding which worked out perfectly because the rehearsal dinner was the following day! WE went in as a large group to pick up and they looked amazing!! Everything fit like a glove and everyone was professional and happy and we defiantly got service with a smile!! When you pick your tuxedos go see Nick and his team at American Commodore Tuxedo at the Great Lakes Mall!! I can't rave about them enough!! Thank you guys for doing such a great job!
