Inaccurate cost and poor quality. As multiple other reviews have said, expect to pay 25% more than the initial estimate. The first price is low balled but then at payment time, a bunch of "extras" are tacked on that should have been included in the initial estimate or prices increased from the first estimate with no explanation. Most folks are amazed at what powder coating looks like, but are not familiar with the type of quality you should get from this process - it should be immaculate, like the smooth, consistent paint on a brand new car. That's not what we got. Our results were terrible quality - you can see pitting and valleys - this is just poor workmanship and lack of attention to detail. Roger is a great salesman about their quality control process but it's just talk - you can see the results for yourself. Also note, this business doesn't think that communication about changes to pricing, timing or anything else is part of their responsibility. We had several radiators each labeled when they arrived and American Dry Coating & Sandblasting mislabeled them, causing our movers to carry 600 lbs radiators up and then back down staircases for no reason. Roger's response: "mistakes happen." This all goes to show it is just an unprofessional business. We had a 90 year old patio glider that was in need of a stripping & powder coating. It came out beautiful and we are very happy. Only complaint was that final price and estimate were far apart. That was not so much the issue except we were not notified of the substantial price difference until delivery. Otherwise they were very nice to work with and did a great job. read more

I recently had a radiator media blasted and coated (powder and clear) at ADS. The end result exceeded expectations and, as others have said, the radiator is now a point of interest in the room instead of something unsightly that I'd want to cover. The process also revealed interesting details which were previously obscured by layer upon layer of paint. (See photos.) The service wasn't cheap (~$550 for a 14-fin radiator) but, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Following up on that point, my one criticism is that they don't accept credit cards. I don't know what their reasoning is, but you'd think that for a service which costs hundreds of dollars -- at the very least -- this option would be a given. read more

Left delicate and irreplaceable aluminum under trays for a vintage Bentley. Technician demonstrated how finished surface would appear and gave me two choices. Roger the owner then gave me tour of the facility. Returned in two days and was given the four pieces nicely wrapped in transparent protective plastic. Excellent results at a vary fair price. I brought two cast iron ceiling lights to be powder coated and they blasted two holes through the metal into the lights and I had to show them the damage. They offered me an insulting 50% refund on one on the lights. They didn't take into consideration the amount I paid for them originally or the cost in fuel I spent driving over an hour each way. At the time I didn't stand up for myself and say no way. Really they owe me a full refund plus the cost of what I paid for them since they were essentially ruined. I will add photos later. read more

I took down some old metal patio furniture and a cast iron park bench to have stripped and powder coated. The team here was very nice and did a great job. I told them I was in no rush and they were easily able to get my stuff done in a couple of months. Since I didn't need it till spring we were still in plenty of time. Drop off was easy and they carried off the stuff. Pickup was great as they let me pull my truck indoors and we loaded. They had everything wrapped to keep it safer on the way home. It is hard to separate the stripping from the powder coating so I will leave the same feedback for both. read more

Great experience with stripping paint and rust off of metal. One job was stripping aluminum. One was stripping a bed (anodized?). Both were done professionally - and then ultimately power coated by a partner of theirs. I'd go back there in a minute. They do car parts/boat parts - and it is a serious resource for us here in town. I like as well that they're doing DRY STRIPPING the alternative is hideous on the environment and dangerous. This operation touts itself as the leader in the area for stripping services such as removing powder coating, rust etc off your items. I called yesterday to discuss my project needs and to obtain pricing and turnaround information and received a phone call back this afternoon by the COO and previous owner (ownership has changed hands early 2013 and the previous owner now handles operations and apparently sales calls) Gary Jones. What started off as a typical, cordial sales call turned into the absolutely worst customer interface I have ever (!!) experienced in my 20 year career as a serial entrepreneur and business owner of many different operations. Literally topped the charts for poor conduct, rudeness, arrogance and a complete disregard for anything that came out of my mouth when I simply wanted to ask a few questions and get a better idea of cost or even turnaround. When Gary said he needs to see the items before quoting me anything b/c it depends on too many factors such as material, size, shape, how many layers of powder coating, etc I tried to add that I have the answers to all of that information and would simply love a better idea, he not only started speaking over me rudely and aggressively until I stopped even attempting to say anything, when he was finished I asked him why he was being so aggressive with me and before I could literally finish that question he had HUNG UP on me! Not in a million years would I ever have anyone who treats potential new customers this way in a customer facing position, much less even employed in my business! I was so upset at the way I was just treated on what amounted to a 2-3 minute call, literally, that I went to their website and called back to speak to the Owner (and head of business development) Roger Van Brussel to explain what has just happened to me as he should be aware of this conduct if he hopes to run a quality business. Roger was starkly different in attitude and handled me in the correct manner and atleast allowed me to speak and say what I needed to. The shocker was he informed me he was sitting right next to Gary as he handled my phonetical and began to defend him at first! After I got the details of the call out I felt he began to backpedal a bit and would have a conversation about it. If your reading this ADS, Gary or Roger... I had already made my mind up to give you my business (and potentially a lot more including referrals as I am asked about services like this constantly) and merely was seeking a detail oriented short conversation about my specific project details prior to getting Gary's phone call. In 2-3 mins you not only lost my business, but any chance of referral or future opportunity and it has gone so badly in my mind I will make a point of letting others to AVOID your business at all costs as long as Gary is employed there, it doesn't matter what "reputation" you have built to date. Where there is smoke there is fire and if this is the first guy I talk to and how I was handled by the business and customer service facing people in ADS, who knows what treatment I will receive after you have my items, or take my money... I shudder to think. Bad business and bad service, avoid this company at all costs! Operations that treat new, would-be customers this way should not be in business any longer, I am not privileged to give you my money, you are privileged to have my business (or anyone else's for that matter). read more

Had 6 cast iron radiators from my almost 100-year old house stripped and powder-coated. The finished product is beautiful, the radiators are now a part of the room design instead of a detractor. In addition to the extraordinary quality of the work, the entire staff , from the co-owners, Roger and John to the front office staff, especially Diana, were helpful throughout the entire process, including dealing with a last minute finish change request from me.
