As expected, it was a casual pub style spot with a bar and a small dining area in the back. For this Friday afternoon, it was quite busy. It was bustling with almost all the tables taken by the time we left. Our server was friendly and upbeat. She offered suggestions based on our preferences. We both ordered the same thing - burgers. They came out quickly. The burgers were big and yummy. They satisfied our craving perfectly.

I've been here on numerous occasions hoping that maybe this would finally be the visit where everything clicked. Unfortunately, it just hasn't happened. My experiences have been so-so, and more often than not they've been slightly disappointing. My biggest complaint has always been the food. My take has been it's been bland or uninspired. The French onion soup was just ok, and seemed like no effort putting this together. No provolone cheese option when I've ordered which is crazy. The Caesar salad tasted diluted, with lettuce that seemed waterlogged rather than crisp and fresh. Just overall underwhelming. The food is not necessarily terrible, but just mediocre and forgettable. Portion size is another problem. For what you're paying, the plates often feel surprisingly small. One example of this was the "Big C Burger," which was honestly a huge letdown. With a name like that you'd expect something substantial. Instead, the burger was tiny--maybe 4-5 ounces at most. At first glance you could barely even see the meat because the bun swallowed it. I ordered it medium and it came out completely overcooked, cooked to death really. The bun didn't help either--dense, dry, and overpowering the already small patty. The whole thing just felt poorly executed. Even the little details were off. I asked for olive oil on the side for a salad and what came out was clearly some generic vegetable oil. It felt like a lazy substitution, the kind of thing that makes you question how much care is going into the kitchen overall. To be fair, the one thing Faraday's consistently gets right is the atmosphere. The restaurant is has a cozy charming space with a warm pub feel. The indoor dining area although small has character and a comfortable vibe. The outdoor area is really nice too, and perfect for setting for a nice meal on a comfortable day. Service is good. I've not had any issues with any servers ever being inattentive. Occasionally some order mixups but quickly rectified. Unfortunately, that inviting setting hasn't translated to memorable meals. After several attempts over the years, Faraday's has remained one of those places that seems like it should be good--but for me, it just never quite hits.

Based on Yelp reviews we then called Devin from Flawless Masonry & Landscape who told us a circular driveway was absolutely doable! We were so impressed with Devin's design skills (including clear scaled digitized plans) and experience that we hired him on the spot. Plus Flawless's pricing was lower than other quotes we got. Icing on the cake. Then the pandemic hit so the job was delayed (NY orders), but Flawless came through after re-opening and did a superb job for us. The new driveway is both beautiful and functional, even our crabby neighbors like it! It was a big job but Flawless's skilled and friendly crew managed to finish in a week. Tiffany from the office was super responsive and polite throughout the project, keeping me in the loop at all times. Thank you Flawless for your integrity, talent and hard work!

He was able to help with ideas and creativity. Scott was incredibly responsive before and during the project. The project was done quickly (3 days) and he ensured that we were completely satisfied with the work after it was done. Highly recommend this company.

Explained to us how dinners in Italy work and answered any questions we had. The cheese wheel pasta is a show stopper and I love how everything is explained during the process. The chocolate soufflé was cooked fresh (15 min to be exact!) Great dinner

Wasn't thrilled about being sat against a wall, which made service a little difficult - some dropped food (slices of strip off the porterhouse fumbled as server tried slipping in, and he also dripped some sauce on my utensils/tablecloth in front of me) - minor things. We were four people, split two pastas and two mains after apps of zucchini flowers, octopus, barata / prosciutto salad, and a lamb skewer special. The strips of lamb where most underwhelming. For $30 i'd expect noticeably more tender meat, a premium cut (loin or rack), vs what seemed like maybe leg cooked too long, or maybe it was shoulder? Seasoning missed the mark, for me. Pasta course was the Parma wheel and gnocchi Amatriciana - the guanciale had that 'butcher' taste I like, a little soft vs crisped, but that's a feature in some styles. Pasta was clearly fresh. Then a beautiful piece of sea bass - really a standout - and the smaller ~32oz steak Florentine - a lean cut with a tremendous filet on it. All the vegetables, tomatoes, beans, pesto's accompanying the dishes were otherwise delicious. Deserts were great, don't pass on the gelato or sorbets.

I ordered the French Vietnamese Au Lait along with a sausage, egg, and cheese on a croissant. I never thought I'd wish I lived in Smithtown until that moment. The coffee was absolutely divine, and the breakfast sandwich was perfectly made. If you're someone who isn't used to drinking coffee, do yourself a favor and don't order the quad version and then wonder why you're awake all night! It's delicious, but it's packed with caffeine and definitely lives up to its name. The café itself is clean, cozy, and inviting. It's the perfect place to study, catch up on work, or curl up with a good book. I ended up pulling out my Kindle and finishing my book club read while I waited for Hobby Lobby to open, and it couldn't have been a better way to spend the morning. There's a small parking lot, but I had no trouble finding a spot. The restroom was also incredibly clean, which I always appreciate. The customer service was outstanding, and everyone made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. I'll definitely be making the trip back to Smithtown for another visit. The coffee alone is worth the drive!

There's also a solid amount of outdoor seating, and the space overall feels like it can easily transition into a nightlife or event spot later on. Then our dining experience got underway. The bartender who sat us was friendly. The service however lagged behind thereafter. The service was slow, likely because our waiter seemed to be juggling multiple roles. A few small things were quite a bit annoying. There was no physical beer list, so being rattled off a long list of tap and bottle beers felt like a memorization game that I had to choose a beer on the spot. Also noticed the table and menu felt a bit sticky, suggesting some attention to cleanliness is needed. Food was a mixed bag. The Nashville chicken sandwich was underwhelming--a thin piece of chicken served lukewarm, topped with two pickles, and minimal coleslaw on a Martin's potato roll. The lack of slaw made it harder to balance the spice, and oddly, the fries were hotter temperature wise than the sandwich itself. The Bull Smith burger fared better. It was well-constructed and flavorful, especially with the onion ring and BBQ sauce, and the bun was great. That said, burger came out more a well-done temp than the requested medium-well, which took away from it slightly. A few details stood out more as missed opportunities than real issues: there was no mention of that the special for Monday was pasta night. Also not a mention it was happy hour. And while fry substitutions were offered, the upcharge wasn't disclosed. None of these impacted the final bill negatively, but clearer communication would have improved the experience. Overall, it's a place with a good setup, but inconsistent service, some cleanliness issues and execution hold it back. I might return, but service speed and attention to detail would need to improve.
