Genius I idea! I work on the south side and I always complain that I do not have many lunch option. There asr six restaurants inside here and a bar. So far I have had the pizza restaurant (pictured), Greek, and sliders. The pizza is fast and a large portion. They pizza is already made and they reheat the slices when you order them. The Greek place is my favorite so far. You get your monies worth and good portion sizes. I've had a gyro and the platter and no complaints. The slider place is pricey in my opinion. The sliders are small and I got two of the blue cheese sliders for about $9. For the sliders and fries I paid about $14 (no drink). The food was okay, but I feel the price is high for what you get. A friend visiting from out of town requested "a bar with good food and good vibes" for her birthday dinner and American Eat Company fulfilled her request and then some! This has been on my radar for a long time, but I convinced myself it was too far from my home in central Tucson, it is not, was really easy to get to, parking much easier than downtown or 4th avenue. The concept of the hip cafeteria with spots for enjoying a beer and spots for dining all together is so cool! Our party moved from a couch area to table and back to couch area over a period of about 3.5 hours. I love that I could go here to meet a friend for lunch... or just for coffee... or just for a drink...or just for ice cream... or just for dinner....or all of the above! They have a really laid back/cozy atmosphere, something for everyone. Each restaurant deserves its own review, but my group enjoyed local wine and brews from the bar, tacos from taco place and ribs and wings from the bbq spot... a poke bowl from the sushi spot and then we had ice cream after a while... and finally we grabbed some chorizo and nopal tortillas from the meat market to take home. I personally ordered the ribs and wings dinner special with elote aka corn lollypop and it was delicious and a great value. I think I chose the best dish of the table. I ordered my ribs and wings dry and had my sauces on the side. The strawberry chipotle and bbq sauce were both really good. The ribs were tender and the wings were really flavorful, loved the grilled flavor of the wings. I also had some ash and charcoal and honey ice cream at Isabellas for dessert. All good!!! The last time we were here was before the pandemic. We came on November 5 and while some of the restaurants have changed (almost a given in the restaurant business) the atmosphere and offerings are still worth seeking out. Luckily we came on a late Saturday morning and the mariachi band was there providing awesome entertainment! We got take out from the GM Market 86 and Walter's pizza. I'll post their food review on their listings, but we were very happy with what we got and would love to come back and try the other spots. Unfortunately it's a drive for us so we can only come when we're in the area, but for people who in live in the vicinity this is a worth while fast casual spot. It would be great if there was a place offering Asian food, but such is life. I've posted menus from when we were there (I might have missed a seafood place though). American Eat Company really nailed it with this concept. This foodcourt set-up featuring only local eateries is awesome. What makes this place even more special is the history behind it. There are ten different concepts to choose from: Avenue Mexican, Isabella's Ice Cream, Upper Crust Pizza, OPA Greek, AZ Rib House, The Bite (burgers), Cafe con Leche (coffee shop), Dumb Fish (Poke), Dos Amigos meat market (where you can buy tortillas, meat from the butcher and other Mexican goodies!), and lastly they have the Market Bar, which offers a variety of craft beer and wine. Pretty well rounded over all. I WOULD LOVE to see more salad options though. When I was there for lunch, the line at OPA was the longest, and I think it's because people love a salad at lunch! A salad bar like a Choice Green would be amazing. Just my two cents though. The design of this place was done really well. There is plenty of seating inside and out. Lunch time it was packed! Parking is a little tight. There is parking in the front as well as a designated spot in the back of the building. If you work nearby, I recommend carpooling with your coworkers. The point of sale process was a little confusing at first, but as soon as you dine at one of the businesses, I believe the system may remember you next time. Kind of like Square. They send a text when your food is ready! I ate from Avenue and sat next to it so they actually brought the food to us because of our proximity to the business. Additionally, there was someone bussing tables and I believe the bus staff is serving the entire space, so be sure to tip them! Everyone there was super nice and welcoming. I do think that reviews for the individual eateries should be made on their respective Yelp page, that way those business owners can each assess the feedback! The birria tots were delicious. You order at the counter and they give you a number and bring it to your table. I went here this past Friday and love this place. It is like a upscale stand alone food court. I really like the red sangrias at the bar. The bar is wine and beer only. I tried the greek restaurant's chicken pita and thought it was ok. The chicken could use some more flavor though. The rest of the ingredients were fresh. The rice was kind of soggy. This building was American Meat Company. The new owners saved the business - this is basically 10 shops in one; Isabella's Ice Cream; American Meat Co.; Dumb Fish (poke); Opa Time!; Avenue Chicano Hood Eats; Upper Crust (pizza); The Bite (sliders); Cafe Con leche (coffee); Market Bar (alcohol); and Ribs. It reminds of a mall food court - but WAY cooler. They have garage doors that open up to outside (on the south side of the building - by the bar. With outdoor seating. There is a large room in the back for big groups and a larger table in the middle of the restaurant ( seats 24 +) booths and tables are the remaining seating. Plus high tables near the bar along with bar seating. Today is a soft opening so many of the restaurants are not open. We tried Isabella's Ice cream (we've had it before) and it was great the Salted Carmel Pecan was best; Desert Honey was good); kids tried the black ice cream (Coconut Ash) and they liked it. We also tried RIBS - for $12.95 you get 8 ribs and two sides we tried the Yuma (bbq) ribs very sweet; and the Phoenix (hot) ribs - theses were my favorite sweet at first and then the heat came Yummy. The wedge salad was good and the Elote was a hit (corn on the cob with Mexican cheese, lime/lemon? With their special seasons). The also have tamales and will have Mac and cheese. We tried The Bite which is sliders and fries - they had about 4 types of burgers (including a veggie). We tried the pablano burger - yummy! And the bacon burger and fries all was good. The burgers taste fresh and homemade. The soda fountain had regular soda and the Stubborn Homemade tasing sodas - or favorite was Pineapple Cream Soda (the root beer was really good too). Also the General Manager was very friendly and checked on us several times and explained the Local concept - all the restaurants in here are local and when/if they open new locations it will be the same concept but with different local business. This business is a Awesome and gives you an opportunity to try several local foods in ONE location!! This is a fun place. Good for kids. Bathrooms are huge and clean. What a fun little place! This is food court style, but much better than your average food court! They had Mexican food (pictured), Greek, pizza, ribs, açaí bowls, a coffee shop, ice cream, and a bar. I had 3 quesadillas one each with soy chorizo, green chiles, and beans. They were very greasy but very good - just what I was craving! My boyfriend had a chicken wrap platter from the Greek restaurant and it was a huge plate of food! He really enjoyed it. I thought everything at all of the restaurant were very reasonably priced. The set up is also really nice - there are plenty of seats in the restaurant area which wasn't too loud. If you're looking for more of a bar feel, the bar area was on the edge of the building with a wall blocking it, so you couldn't hear the loud music. You can definitely choose what kind of experience you want and if you have kiddos you need to keep busy, there was a sign for an arcade. Coming back to this neighborhood years after AEC opened, and it's great to see it busy and thriving with more than two businesses with undependable hours. Hot take: get some more garbage cans and bussing stations for customers. People are frantically looking for seating and running in circles to bus their own table to make room for the next customers. I walked the circumference of the building trying to throw my trash away, and half the trash cans said "this is not a trashcan" Make a map as you enter with a description of the restaurants, where they are at, and the menus. I ordered Tsuna Tataki Poke and Poke Tacos at Dumb Fish. Not so bad. but not so good. Average. Regarding Tsuna Tataki, topping ingredients were cold and some were frozen yet. I understand they use frozen base ingredients, but I should mention this experience. My child said the taste of Poke Tacos were nice, but it was difficult to eat. Price. It was not reasonable. Poke bowl was over $11. I think one dish was enough to eat. But taking quality into consideration, it was not reasonable. Staffs were friendly and serving speed was great. Had lunch here as we were finishing up our road trip after a recommendation from our amazing local friends. This is a spot with a communal dining space for multiple restaurants. We've had these in Portland and other cities. With kids it's hard to find a place that can meet everyone's requests. This hits the spot perfectly. My wife and daughter had pizza and wings and the are huge slices. Wings were Buffalo sauce and were delicious and crispy (very important for us). This Buffalo sauce isn't the traditional sauce has a unique flavor that I'll be trying to figure out how to recreate at home it was so good... My son had the spicy chicken sandwich which is where the star was lost. They were out of buns for the sandwich... not sure how a chicken sandwich place runs out of buns. Son really like the flavor and at the sandwich without the bun. Homemade pickles were great. Also their fries are amazing. My youngest and I had Monster Hotdogs. I had the birria Totchos and my daughter had the kids hot dog meal. Stole a bite of the hit dog and it is a grilled dog in a toasted bun. Who toasts a kids hot dog bun? Great detail! Red buns are a hit with the kids. Overall this is a spot worth returning to when we close e back to Tucson. Really cool concept and vibe. I can see this be a crowd pleaser for a group looking for a place with various options: Greek, burgers, steak, bbq, Poke, Mexican. They make their own soda, which is awesome. **Poke Place Review 2.5/5 stars*** I ended up at the Poke place, which ultimately was a bit of a let down only because I felt that their menu was not transparent. I specifically avoided the tuna option because it seemed non traditional and weird: listing onions and peppers- both items I don't like in my food. The salmon option only listed seaweed salad, a sauce, and furikake, which sounds traditional. What I got also included the onions, a kind of pico, and peppers. I wouldn't normally complain IF their menu had listed those items. It didn't. Most interestingly, the rice in the actual Poke was not cooked through. I would not recommend this Poke place for this reason. It would be a good draw for somebody who was interested in a Mexican twist to Poke. I really like American Eat Co. my significant other got a burger and loved it. I'll probably end up at Opas for some good reliable Greek food. Will go again. read more
