We tried Kintoki Sushi on a Tuesday night and even though it's fairly new, the place was packed! They sat the three of us down very quickly, which was impressive considering how busy it was. The vibe was lively and welcoming all kinds of people were there, different ages and lots of celebrations going on. It felt like a fun neighborhood spot already. One thing I couldn't help but notice (and laugh a little at) were the VERY tall high chairs for kids they definitely stand out! Our server was very attentive throughout the night and made sure we were taken care of. The food was very tasteful and well prepared. We ordered four rolls and a small cucumber salad, along with club soda for me, a beer for my husband, and a soda for my daughter. The portions are good quality, but not big. For us personally, it felt on the expensive side. My family really enjoys sushi and we can easily eat two rolls each, which would add up quickly here. Our total was $85 plus tip for what we ordered. That said, I know pricing is subjective some people may not mind or may feel it's worth it, and that's totally fair. I would probably go back for a happy hour or special event. Overall, it's a great addition to the area with good food, attentive service, and a fun atmosphere.

Tucson has a fun hipster sushi place now. Creative menu. Not necessarily a standard sushi place but still quite nice. Plenty on non-sushi menu items for your friends that are not sushi eathers. The rolls are interesting. The sushi selection was a bit limited but that may be a Tucson thing. I recommend you stop in and will likely have a nice meal and good time. I'll come back.

What a great sushi joint! Only open since December, we were incredibly impressed by the aesthetic, staff and most importantly food. My friend has a lot of food restrictions and they were amazing in making custom rolls for her. My husband and I split three rolls, all super fresh and absolutely scrumptious. Our server was wonderful, the whole experience two thumbs up!

Let me tell y'all something, this is one of those restaurants where you have a full ticket experience and wish you weren't stuffed because you just want MORE!!! The Tataki Maki roll outstanding my fav!!! (wish the rolls had a lil more spicy tuna lil less Kani). The fried rice is SPECTACULAR nothing frozen fresh veggies you can taste chopped with the fineness of fine dining. The sushi is sooo fresh I mean melt in your mouth FRESH, and baby DONT SLEEP ON the WINGS !!!! The drinks are imaginative (pricey) and tasty. Can't wait for them to start happy hour because I definitely want to try more. Joseph, our server was friendly attentive and knowledgeable about all items on the menu. Spitting out recommendations without hesitation, truly a well seasoned professional! The inside is so thoughtfully designed. I loved the layout the lighting...the vibe is what Tucson needs more of! In this economy, if I'm going out to eat it better damn well better be worth it, and Kintoki IS worth it. I think I have to plan a regular visit into my budget!

Let's start with a Miso Caramel Old Fashioned which is an awesome take on an old fashioned. Highly recommend. Couple that with a Sumo Roll, Yokai Roll, chicken wings, and Beef udon bowl and the Mushi- Pan Tres Leches and you have a feast. The food and cocktail menu is a fusion of Japanese- Mexican in a delicate way bringing out distinct flavors in the food. Noticed they are well staffed and service is attentive and friendly. They were busy but the kitchen was putting out food non-stop and service was quickThe space has a lively vibe with indoor and outdoor seating. Ample parking.

Sushi Bar is so clean and pretty!

I had a fantastic dinner experience at Kintoki Sushi House & Bar and I am so happy to have found a new neighborhood sushi spot! To start, I had the Miso soup which delivered a classic, traditional miso flavor profile with tofu, hondashi, and scallions. The addition of enoki mushrooms was a really nice touch and gave it just a hint of something extra. For an appetizer, I ordered the Crab Puff Jalapeños served with a Sweet Chili Ponzu dipping sauce. The sauce had a mild heat and the jalapeños themselves were not overpowering, which allowed the filling flavor and sauce to really shine. I appreciated that balance a lot. For my entree, I ordered both the Rainbow Roll and the Tootsie Roll. Both were well prepared, beautifully presented, and tasted great. I enjoyed them with a side of eel sauce for that extra sweetness I like, along with wasabi and fresh ginger. I will note that the fresh ginger had a slightly fishy aroma to it, so it may be stored in close proximity to the fish, but that was a minor note and did not detract from an otherwise fantastic meal. I went for dinner on a Sunday night and it was pretty busy. There wasn't a waitlist but I would definitely recommend making a reservation if you have a larger party, as most of the tables appeared to be full. I sat at the sushi bar and absolutely loved the experience. Their sushi chefs were fantastic and very engaging, taking time to explain and show off different rolls and menu items which will be helpful for future visits. My server, Luz, was amazing! She took great care of me, answered all of my questions, and checked in often without being intrusive.m and had a super nice personality. The interior is well designed with a modern sushi bar vibe, and I really loved the atmosphere. Despite how busy it was, the staff did an excellent job moving guests through at a comfortable pace. I could even hear nearby tables commenting on how positive their experiences were. As I was leaving, every employee I passed genuinely thanked me for coming in, which was such a nice touch. Parking seemed decent, though it was dark and I am not very familiar with the location, so that is just something to keep in mind during peak times. Overall, I loved the experience. Since my longtime neighborhood sushi spot recently closed, Kintoki has officially become my new go-to. I am so happy they are here and I cannot wait to come back!

We sat outside on the covered patio. It was a beautiful day and not too chilly as we showed up around 3. They did come out and turn on the space heater which helped as time went on. I did not catch the waitresses name but she was awesome. There was only 1x when none of us had drinks refilled for a bit but I know at that same time the restaurant got slammed with a ton of people coming in at once. The food did not disappoint, it was all very good. My favorite roll was the kaze roll. Presentation was 10/10 everything looked good. We were celebrating my husband's bday and the waitress gave him a mushi-pan tres leches with a candle on it and sang happy birthday. That was very nice. The matcha tiramisu as good. Although so was everything with the exception of the tres leches. It's not that it was bad, but it wasn't anything special. The cakes they use we get all the time at Hmart in Mesa where the baguette pastry shop is. So we've had them before. I think we were expecting something a little more extravagant for that one. Overall we would dine again as the service and food was awesome and worth it.

The spot had some good sushi and the staff ate all very friendly. The Yuzu Ponzu sauce on the Tataki Maki roll was super yumm and the Citrus Hamachi was very good as well. I started with the Shishito peppers and they were seasoned nicely. Over all very good sushi, definitely give them a try.

Tofu fried rice - vegan - delicious
    Alex C.

I will preference this review that I am omitting some of my grievances because they've only been open for two weeks. The good: Vegan entrée options Upscale/energetic atmosphere Vegan appetizers options The needs improvement: Drink was terrible (cucumber margarita) No sake No liquor menu (hopefully coming?) Vegan appetizer options not listed as vegan I enjoyed trying something new. If it wasn't for the local vegan influencers I wouldn't have known what to order. The tofu fried rice was delicious - tofu seasoned to perfection and the broccolini crunchy but now raw. Super oily as well. The tofu poke bowl's rice was too sweet for me but tasty veggie options in the bowl. The vegan sushi roll was delicious - only one option though. Very disappointing. Our sushi didn't come with ginger or wasabi - we had to ask for it. I didn't see any other rolls coming out that had that option either. I hope you expand and list all your vegan options clearly. You could have something great. I also hope you have a list for all your booze available in the bar coming. We had to walk up to the bar to look at options.

    Miso soup

Oh, it is DANGEROUS that Kintoki has opened so close to my house. A friend and I were in full treat-yourself mode last night and got all kinds of delicious appetizers and sushi. We started with Miso Soup and Chili Lime Edamame, both of which were very good. I like the fun seasoning on the edamame -- it made it even more addictive than the usual sprinkle of sea salt! We also got the Crispy Spicy Tuna, which definitely brought the heat. The rice was a bit more chewy than crispy, and the heap of spicy tuna atop it was super punchy. It's a bit hard to eat, so prepare to sacrifice your dignity if you order it. We then moved on to the Sashimi Combo (three pieces each of tuna, yellowtail, and salmon), which was very impressive. With no rice, sauces, or other elements to impact the palate, it was really obvious that the fish was extremely high quality and had excellent flavor. We were both totally wowed by the large, luscious cuts of fish and repeatedly exclaimed over how good it was. We finished with two of their specialty rolls: the Tataki Maki and the Kaze. Both were delicious! The Tataki Maki roll has some heat to it, as well as textural contrasts between the elements that make it a lot of fun to eat. The Kaze roll combined a little bit spice with the fresh microgreens and a slightly acidic sauce, which worked well. I'd definitely order either one again. Our server was friendly and the food came out quickly. The decor is bright and sleek. It's not cheap, but I definitely felt like we got high-quality fish, and I'm willing to pay for that. I'm looking forward to my next visit and trying more of their menu!

I visited Kintoki for the first time on 11/29, and overall, I left pretty underwhelmed. First off, the sushi selection is surprisingly small. Only about a quarter of their paper menu is actually sushi, which was disappointing--I was hoping for a traditional sushi menu where you check off what you want with a pencil. With such a limited selection, I can see why they don't offer that option. They have the basics (California roll, shrimp tempura, etc.) and a handful of specialty rolls, but every specialty roll seems to be "spicy," which isn't ideal if you're not into heat. I ordered a California roll, a Tootsie roll, and an Oishi roll. My friend and I said from the beginning that we wanted 2 separate checks, everything would be separate. They brought out my rolls on plates with her rolls, which was kind of annoying. I had high hopes for the Oishi since the first ingredient listed was tempura asparagus. Unfortunately, they must have been out of asparagus because the roll showed up with raw jalapeño instead--hoping I wouldn't notice, I guess? If the sauce didn't also already have jalapeño, it might've been okay, but the double heat made it not very enjoyable. The California roll was just that--a California roll. Nothing special. The Tootsie roll was okay, but not memorable. On the positive side, the interior looks much nicer than when the space was El Berraco. It's brighter and more open, which I appreciated. But the service was extremely slow. They're new and clearly busy, so maybe that improves with time. Parking is tight, but the gate to the neighboring restaurant was open, which helped. There may be other menu items worth trying, but as far as sushi goes, everything I sampled was just... blah. I'm not sure I'd return for the sushi alone.

I used to love the pervious restaurant at this location but this Asian restaurant with some Mexican flare is a cool change. All of the food was delicious. The tuna crunchy rice was my favorite and I got a poke bowel that was beautifully plated. Downsides is we had a reservation and they sat us at the front of the restaurant right in from of the door, I would expect this seating for walkins, also the parking lot is way too small for the amount of seating they have.

Don't go here for sushi.. yellowtail nigiri was room temperature and doesn't seem like it's being kept at the food safe temp. Eel nigiri was also room temp when it's supposed to be at least a little warm... & the tuna nigiri was rubbery I had to spit it out and couldn't even tear it apart with my hands. Ordered hot sake and received it cold It looked pretty and we ate because we were hungry and wanted to try something new. Maybe they have better stuff on the menu but the sushi was terrible. service was fine. Will not be returning

I'd had dinner a couple times in the restaurant for my birthday and had the cheese wheel fettuccine alfredo. I asked if anyone was interested in trying it and so 3 of us split it which ended up being pretty perfect. It is hands down THE BEST fettuccine alfredo. We had many drinks come to our table, the first round being the homemade limoncello. Made with local Meyer lemons, it is deliciously potent. A must try. The bartender, Ryan or Brian, he made cocktails from the heart. A couple of gals ordered "dealer's choice" drinks and they were inspired by the drinker's stories. It was really a unique experience for them and I could almost see his mind working out the chemistry of the libations. Another must try, although I didn't because I had to drive myself home. I did have a coffee with Bailey's, Amaretto, and freshly-made whipped cream. Last must try if not on a coffee drink maybe on a dessert. One person in our party thought that the drinks were on the spendy side. Many of the ingredients were house made and all top shelf. I'm from Los Angeles so an $18 drink was a normal night at the klerb. Worth mentioning if that would be a deal breaker. Worth a go. I thought it was better than the speakeasy at the Sonoran House which was too bright and not intimate. You really like feel more like you're not where you're supposed to be at The Still. There is a curio cabinet with cigars that I think are for sale. The speakeasy opens up to the patio for all the smoke suckers. Great for a small groups or date night, maybe not the first date.
