We walked in off the street while visiting Scottsdale and had several issues. While browsing, the woman was pressuring one of our friends to purchase things when she clearly expressed she was not interested at that time. The middle aged man made an accusation that because one of our group had a backpack he was going to steal. While we were walking around the workers were arguing amongst themselves. They would not even let us see the entire gallery. I have also never been to a gallery that has no information on the art posted and doesn't let you take pictures. There is a lot to see in there but they will hover and harass you and you can't even bring your phone out at all. Makes you question authenticity. I would not recommend visiting this gallery. read more

Rude and pretentious staff. Many sections roped off. Asked to see a particular roped off section and was brushed off and told, "Same stuff is over here" which makes no sense as all the pieces are different. Hint to ownership: your California tourists may not dress like country club patrons but many of us do have Silicon Valley money. Stunning gallery with incredible collection of artists. Went into to see the Marc Chagall exhibit "What men have forgotten, stones will remember." They've got incredible works. You can see paintings from street artists like Banksy and AtZ. They've got works from impressionists like Alexander Calder, Marc Chagall, Salvador Dalí, Willem de Kooning, Henri Matisse, Joan Miró, Marcel Mouly and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. They've got pop art from Roy Lichtenstein, Peter Max, LeRoy Neiman and Andy Warhol. So much to see and select from, a true feast for the eyes. read more

I am a young artist visiting Scottsdale and was excited to come browse art for inspiration and looking to potentially purchase a piece to take home. When my boyfriend and I walked in, a middle aged man rushed to tell us that we were not welcome to enter and that it was by appointment only. Moments afterwards, an affluent appearing older couple walked in, and he told them that it was by appointment only but he had an opening right now and let them through immediately- right in front of us. It was incredibly rude, pretentious, and insulting. Every other gallery on the street was welcoming and kind to us. In my opinion, it is a place worth skipping over. We found a piece to purchase at a gallery down the street- at a place that actually treated us like people. read more

I have a rule that I almost exclusively leave positive reviews unless a situation is so disappointing that it warrants a negative review. Without question, my experience in this gallery this week fits the latter. From the moment we walked in the pretentiousness of the middle aged employee filled the place. He immediately questioned our reasons for being in. When discussing the reprints that I purchased (from a licensed dealer) he made me feel like a peasant not worthy of being in the presence of such fine art. I enjoy art but I'm not someone who is quite yet going to spend tens of thousands. But it was clear that if you aren't in the tax bracket of his more valued clientele than you should just stay out of the art scene all together. As we continued through the gallery the responses and attitude toward us and our questions were short, pretentious, and incredibly off putting. I didn't finish walking through the gallery before I chuckled to myself and decided to leave the stuffy gallery for fresh air. I certainly didn't want to dirty up the joint more than I already had. Don't get me wrong, the art is incredible. If you want to see legit Picasso, Banksy, Rockwell art this is a terrific spot to see it under one roof. Just don't expect a welcoming experience centered around the incredible art unless you walk in with a stack of cash sticking out of your Gucci suit pocket. So disappointing. That man does not represent what it means to appreciate fine art to someone who can only appreciate it without taking it home. Hopefully ownership will spend a little time reading these reviews, or better yet, the employee will and rethink how he feels about people just simply enjoying the art without the promise of his commission. They have great art here but be careful of a gentleman named Jeff horrible horrible Customer Service doesn't really know what he's doing and tries to fake his way through. Extremely rude. There's many of the galleries in town with more knowledgeable and experience sales people and much much more customer service friendly than this one here. If my wife and I could leave less than 1 star we would. We have read some reviews acknowledging racism at this gallery which we aren't confident to speak honestly on. However we can definitely speak truthfully towards the classism and pretentiousness that are looming in this gallery. We are visiting Scottsdale from Southern California on a brief work trip. We decided to stop in Old Town and walk around before dinner. We happened to stumble on the art walk and poked our head into this gallery because of the advertisements of Banksy and Warhol on the outside of the building. Walking in we were met by a man named Jeff. A few things to keep in mind. He will size you up and if you are not dressed in what appears to be expensive clothing he will disregard your genuine interest in art, your curiosity to explore the gallery and your potential for being able to purchase the art displayed in their gallery. It's a shame that age old adages like "don't judge a book by its cover" haven't quite landed with some people. I am not claiming to be wealthy enough to purchase the art in this gallery. I am a young man who happens to create art as a passion and also as a full time career. I can't help but ask myself....if Banksy walked into this gallery to look at some of his artwork on display would Jeff disregard him the same. The answer I find myself with is, he would. And he would tell him the same as he did my wife and I, "we don't talk price unless you're going to buy" and continue to make pretentious jokes What a shame that such beautiful art is left in such cold, money minded hands. I certainly hope that with all of the social progress made in the last several centuries, pretentious astigmatisms surrounding fine art can be humbled and brought to ruins. But establishments such as this are still laying concrete to reinforce age old ideas and constructs that separate human beings. I can't help but find it comical that Jeff and this gallery are attempting to sell Banksy art. The artist himself is the antithesis of the spirit of this gallery. Banksy will randomly appear in public areas and sell his authentic original work for starving artist prices and has made a fantastically successful career by taking sledgehammer swings at societal norms and ideologies. I believe it's not just political powers but pretentious, prideful, arrogant and classist establishments such as this gallery that Banksy shares his sentiment for in painting such as Devolved Parliament. A society and businesses run and ruled by primates. I will leave Jeff with a quote. "Art should make us feel more clearly and more intelligently. It should give us coherent sensations that we otherwise would not have had. But the price of a work of art is now part of its function, its new job is to sit on the wall and get more expensive. Instead of being the common property of humankind the way a book is, art becomes the particular property of somebody who can afford it. Suppose that every worthwhile book in the world cost $1 million - imagine what a catastrophic effect on culture that would have." -Robert Hughes, Art Critic I certainly hope that Jeff and this gallery can learn, grow and change as all humans are capable of. In this current state however I would caution you... If you are in the fine art market....take your business elsewhere. If your looking for garbage service and staff with a surface level appreciator the arts, this is the shop for you. I'm a professional exhibited and published artist very familiar with the arts so I have a pretty good idea of the experience a guest should have when contacting a gallery. This is not an art gallery in the traditional sense where you'll find dynamic work with a message or cutting edge ideas pushing culture forward, it's a retail store that sells basic art. The art is derivative and cliche at best ( gift shop art) pretty, but you'll likely be gouged given its audience is for tourists. Art isn't about luxury or exclusivity, it's about storytelling and connecting with an audience but you'd never know that entering this place; they treat you like a sack of money. I called to get directions to this shop since I was curious and was transferred multiple times by staff who couldn't be bothered to help; when I finally got connected with a middle aged white man who I'm guessing is the shop manager he cut me off mid sentence and hung up on me. Never in my life have I encountered such hostility service at a cultural institution. Ive visited galleries in LA, NY, Paris, Mexico City and each of those galleries delivered a far more professional service than this place. Ive been to gas stations with better than this place. Based on previous reviews of this shop I can confidently assume service is not a priority here on the phone nor in person, just money. Maybe staff are treated horribly and they are retaliating towards guests, whatever the reason its unacceptable. This place is not worth your time. If you're really looking for a real piece of local art check out the galleries in Phoenix on grand ave or Roosevelt row, they're far more professional, friendly, inviting and open to working with new buyers. This place has a LOT to learn about the industry. You never know who you're talking to or who you might meet, always make a great first impression. It might be your last. read more

I've read many of the reviews good and bad and I was stunned at the amount of customers who felt snubbed and classified unworthy because of dress etc. I always wear shorts or jeans and look like a disheveled cat. My income is modest and certainly not elite, but I have always been treated well and respectfully by Jeff. I have bought many items and never felt pressured. I can not speak to racism since I've not seen it in the gallery, but I would certainly be offended if any human was belittled in my presence. I don't write reviews but it seems that someone should stand up for Jeff. PS I'm not his mother. read more

If you are seriously looking for some unique art for a collection, this is the place to go. The staff is very attentive and knowledgeable. Even if you aren't quite in the market to buy yet, this is definitely worth a look because their collection is surprisingly quite vast. I never expected to find this many unique pieces "in my own backyard" so to speak. I was surprised to see the selection of "modern" pieces they had, including Banksy and Mr. Brainwash. It was a fun visit and almost more fun than a museum. I really wish they would allow some photos because I would love to share how neat the inside was.. so I guess that's my only gripe and well maybe the price tags! read more

Disappointingly rude. Impressive collection of artists that I enjoy, in particular Lichtenstein... thought maybe there would be a little something I could add to my (tiny) collection. We stumbled across the gallery today while In town with my father... For the next 11 days he undergoes testing at the Mayo Clinic. I had been on hold (on my iPhone) for over 10 minutes trying to get him an early check in with the hotel so he could lie down. We walked into the gallery... before a simple greeting was exchanged I was asked to leave. I was more than happy to accommodate. I downloaded the Yelp, for the first time in my life, for this reason only. Hope you all have better luck than me... The search continues! Note: I'm a designer and have worked with galleries, all over, of all types. This is not commonplace in the art world, if you experience this same treatment don't let it ruin your love for art or desire to venture in to places and enjoy it. read more

BEWARE! RACIST GALLERY. If I could have given less than a 1 star I would have. I was excited to browse the art work at American Fine Art because I am in the market for a new piece of art work for my home. On 12/17/20 my African American male friend and I (I am Caucasian) entered the gallery and a stiff Caucasian middle aged man approached us but stood behind a velvet rope that separated the gallery from the entryway. Upon entering the empty gallery the man greeted us and asked if we had an appointment to which we responded no. He then asked what we are in the market for and we explained that we're visiting and were browsing in search of a piece of art. He then continued to fire off question after question without ever offering to allow us to browse. Finally after answering many of his questions we realized he wasn't going to allow us to browse so we walked out. He was clearly trying to see if my friend was qualified to buy. Little did he know we're both doctors. The whole experience was so surprising, disappointing and uncomfortable I felt a sense of responsibility to capture it here in an effort to protect anyone from experiencing such an obvious display of discrimination. I should also mention that it was a week day so Old Town was nearly a ghost town. Doubtful they had any appointments let alone, back to back appointments that prevented us from entering for a few minutes. And again, there was no one in the gallery. read more

While I was walking Old Town I stopped for a few moments to watch the "Lord of Glass" Crosbie work with molten glass. Along side a helper. Both were quickly transforming their 1900 degree pieces into various shapes, working the glass and reheating in the furnace. Both the glass and the furnace are glowing yellow. I didn't get to see any finished work, however there are pictures on the wall that might describe their work. They were busy spinning and shaping. Cosbie is known for and has a perfected technique for hand-blown glass jellyfish. Perhaps this workshop will be taking their finished pieces of art in the coming days and hosting an exhibition. read more

Such a complete and total disappointment. I attended a women's retreat at Civana Spa in Carefree, and we decided to stop in Scottsdale to check out the galleries before catching our plane. I was expecially looking foward to visiting this gallery. As soon as I walked in the door, the women at the desk awkwardly ask me to leave my backpack on her chair. Well, that backpack contained $8000 worth of camera equipment , my passport and other value belonging. I was not about to leave it sitting on a chair while I explore the gallery. i told her it was my camera and I was not willing to leave it. I told her that I would leave and she said, "well, that is up to you"! I will never ever walk in that door again. And, I shared my experience with the 50 other women who attended the retreat. There are some very nice galleries in Scottsdale, but I suggest skipping this one unless you want to be treated like a criminal. read more

My dad and I found American Fine Art Editions one night after dining in Old Town. Never in my life have I viewed such an extensive collection of art by Warhol, Neiman, Picasso, Picot, Rembrandt, Dali,and Delacroix (to name a few). We were greeted by a saleswoman who strolled through the gallery with us. She asked my father if we collected art (we do) and what existed in our collection. American Fine Art editions does have a few pieces by one of our close family friends--Leonardo Nierman. I could tell the saleswoman was slightly taken aback when we mentioned that our Nierman pieces surpassed theirs in both quality and quantity. My dad's a nonchalant kind of guy, so the saleswoman's spiel didn't phase him one bit. The art in our collection is much older (and diverse) than the pieces in American Fine Art Editions; she backed off when she realized that we weren't doing a one-stop-shop. This is an amazing place to visit. The art is stunning and the collection is HUGE. What happens if a fire or other natural disaster occurs? To lose such a massive collection of art would be a tragedy; I'm guessing they're insured, but if something did happen all of the gorgeous work would be lost forever. I was reprimanded for trying to photograph of some of the work with my iPhone, which makes sense...but it's not like this is the Met or anything. Don't bring your kids, unless they're very well-behaved. This is the kind of place that draws people in to make a sale. Be armed with your knowledge and an air that you're not overly impressed. read more

Wow. These people are really full of themselves. We first learned of this gallery a few years ago during another trip to Scottsdale. My boyfriend was interested in their art selection and remembered them for years after. They're located on Scottsdale road in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale which is Scottsdale's tourist district. On Thursdays, they have art walks where visitors can tour the multiple galleries in the area. I need to note, we visited on a Thursday. Fast forward to this weekend when we were back in Old Town Scottsdale. We decided to visit the gallery again but this time we were met with some jerkoff that worked there. Our conversation was as follows: Jerk: So do you collect art? Us: No Jerk: Are you interested in starting to collect? Us: No Jerk: Then maybe you should check out a museum down the street, we talk to investors and collectors here. So as you can see, they're pretty pretentious and blatantly rude. Don't spend you're money here as there are hundreds of other galleries with comparable prices but without the attitude. read more

I've been going to Scottsdale for over 10 years and each time I visit I go to the American Fine Art Editions as well as other artists in town. It's nice to see their collection of modern art but the attitude of the people there spoil the experience. I don't know how they stay in business! They are very pushy and want you to buy but when I tell them I'm just browsing I get the cold shoulder. American Fine Art Editions, located in the internationally known Arts District in Scottsdale carries an impressive number of works by Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Peter Max and other artists in a 12,000 square foot gallery at the intersection of Main Street and Scottsdale Road. The sales personnel can be overly aggressive in securing a purchase and have been known to be less than truthful when trying to close on a sale, so beware of any promises that are made. While they are a reputable gallery, do require that any agreements be made in writing. read more

Incredibly rude and impatient. After seeing the banner outside, I came in and asked if the "Hollywood Collection" was in a rotation of shows and before I could get another word out, I was told that they are a gallery and everything is for sale. Ummm ok. I said "I'm asking because the sign said 'collection' and I was curious if other collections will rotate in during the year?" He says, "It's right there." Umm... He then harshly told me that photos are not allowed and no cameras, either. Ooo kkkk, I know that's how it works, but did I look like I was going to do that? We visit the area a lot and my question is not unusual...regardless, I would never patronize a gallery that hires such an aggressive social misfit. The Hollywood Collection in question was tired and, even though I only spent a minute there, the rest of the gallery looked pretty boring. And not picture worthy, you jerk. read more

This place gave me a good laugh for days after my visit. The door is wide open. My friend and I walked in to take a look and maybe even purchase a work of art. A man in a suit approached us and asked if we had an appointment. We said............ummmmmmmmmmmmmm.....no. His hand quivered on his purple velvet rope as he contemplated whether to let us in. He asked what we were specifically looking for...I told him that he really didn't want us and that we would leave. He then advised that during the evening it was "Gallery Night" and that we would be allowed in with the "public." I was laughing so hard when we left that tears were almost falling. This pretentious snob had no idea that he was dealing with 2 ladies on a quick trip to Scottsdale that could have purchased any piece of art that we would have liked. However, the owner of the gallery next door is exquisite. How this place is maintained on this wonderful piece of real estate in Scottsdale is beyond me. Bye Bye. read more

The service here is THE WORST. THE REVIEWS put it mildly. I walked in actually looking to purchase art and the woman at the front desk had the nasties disposition. She told me I need to put my drink down and wait for an Art consultant. I said I'll put my drink down when the Art Consultant comes over. Whereupon she responded, No, you need to put your drink down now, then go browse, then the art consultant will come to you. The Art Consultant sat at his desk across from us doing and saying nothing. I put my drink down and told her why didn't you tell me the Art Consultant was right here? She put her head down. The Art Consultant was extremely lazy. He didn't want to get the art. He made up several excuses why he couldn't go get the art, even after I had told him I had called in advance about the Art. It literally took me 10 mins to 'convince' him to got get the art I wanted to see. And even then, he only brought out one. I asked if there were others? And he said hinted he didn't want to go get them. After pushing, he relented and got another. I knew there were more, but he was too lazy to show. I even asked about the other room, and he firmly indicated IT'S CLOSED FOR THE SUMMER. So I said, you won't take me back there? He said no, and went and took a phone call. WHO TAKES A PHONE CALL WHILE THEY ARE WITH A CLIENT? While WAITING on him, I take out my cell phone to make a call and ANOTHER WOMAN enters the picture and demands I put my cell phone away. She didn't introduce herself or reveal who she was, just demanded I put my cell phone away. Enough is enough. I walked out. It's sad, because not only am I in the market for a Thomas Pradzynski, I had been to this gallery before and the guy I worked with prior was extremely friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. read more

One of my least favorites in town. The employees treat you like junk if you dont have a thousand dollar watch on. Shallow business model.

The only thing that would give this gallery the fifth star is if I could afford more of the artwork they offer. (Although it's no fault of theirs). The collection here is staggering! Picasso. Warhol. Matisse. Wyeth. And those are just a few examples, it's better than many museums I've been to. The experience I had was amazing. The consultant was very knowledgable and spent a lot of time educating me on the collection and the pieces I really enjoyed. Let's talk about what I could afford. An incredible piece of handblown glass. They have a hot glass studio next to the gallery where they have touring artists and you can watch them blow glass LIVE! It is the most fascinating art medium to watch I think and I was able to get a small coupe that I just fell in love with. I would recommend this place to anyone. OMG! The RUDEST sales people. They will not allow you to view the art without a salesperson present. This wouldn't be such a problem except that they dog you with inane questions, and when told that you would like to look, the tell you to go to "the museum down the street". Yes, I was told the same thing as the reviewer below. What this gallery doesn't understand is that looking leads to buying, but if they won't allow you to look without being insulting, they won't sell anything. They also aren't doing the art district or the artists they show any favors. Never in my life have I been treated so poorly in a sales environment. They have no idea how many potential buyers they have turned away. Making assumptions about their clientele is very bad business!! read more
