I would like to Thank the entire American First Credit Union Family, especially Tiffany Cleveland and Lisa Davila for guiding me thru the Loan program. I originally stopped to the Buena Park branch to have my accounts looked over due to some fraud/scheme scenario. American First contacted me and urged me to hang up the call on the other line because I was in the middle of being "scammed". The bank rep. froze my account and urged me get to a branch ASAP. Tiffany Cleveland listened to my situation and began to help me out. As she was working away she informed me that I could apply for a Consolidated Loan and how much money I could save. I agreed. Lisa Davila then contacted me and she carefully explained the terms and she answered all my questions. American First Credit Union saved me from getting "Scammed" , thanks also to the representative who began all this with a courteous and quick phone call. Their customer service is amazing and they make it easy to process transfers, wires, and set up accounts and loans. Just used the outside ATM. I enjoy the fact that I can use this ATM without any fees since I have SchoolsFirst FCU and their branches are pretty spread out and not always on the way or kind of far from me. The ATM worked great, easy to use, secure, many options for many different services and offered large bills. It was clean and quick. I recommend this ATM to anyone that has SchoolsFirst FCU or other FCUs to avoid those ridiculous fees from $3-$6.50 just to withdraw cash. You can also make deposits at this location. There is plenty of parking, handicap parking as well, easy to get to no matter which direction you are coming from. read more

Logix Credit Union is good too. Those loans are amazing. American first had only 3 good things about it here in bp,CA . That WAS the free checking, AND THOSE 2 AMAZING INDIVIDUALS THAT WORK THERE. The older Miss and Sir, they wear glasses. One has grey spiked hair , and Miss like grey biege hair. JUST AMAZING PEOPLE, they'll give u suggestions like if you're their family. No power trip at all or sense of anything just human to human interactions. Those two have been there a long time . That guy manager got there like a year after I opened my account, I'm just going to say in my opinion, he's a fake friendly , smile in your face but LITERALLY CARES LESS ABOUT WHAT U HAVE GOING ON OR WHAT YOURE ASKING FOR ON WHATEVER LEVEL. And as a manager of a bank idk how u should carry yourself or have to but.... He's a fake Power tripper on the fact that he has a say so on requests from people, whether it's a loan or ON HOW THEIR POLICIES ARE APPLIED AND NOT. I was a member for over 50 years! They were once the credit union for Alpha Beta markets for whom I worked for 28 years. That ended with the Ralphs merger/acquisition. Up until then, they suited our needs fine. Things gradually changed from that point until earlier this year when they no longer suited our financial needs and I was forced to sever ties with them. Recently learned our current credit union (1st Valley in San Bernardino) is being taken over by America First. Today I received a rather large packet from America First outlining g thier expectations, fees and policies (almost like they forget they work for thier members). Anyways, this included fee schedule that describes how they charge a fee for everything including personalizing my ATM card PIN !!! I am completely reliant on on-line bill pay and ACH.. Looks like I'll still have that for a fee - and then after I apply and am approved... WTF!!!! I have been a 1st Valley member for over 35 years. I went into the SB branch a couple weeks ago and was greeted by a teller I had never seen before who had me do everything but submit a urine sample before I could get $$ from one of my 4 accounts. RIP 1st Valley -this was a big mistake. read more

I didn't get the managers name. I had gone into the bank branch because I couldn't get into the app. The self-proclaimed manager decided to "help," me as the rest of the employees were busy. I explained to him that I had been diagnosed with cancer and that's how I initially fell behind on my payments and then, I could not get into the app. While he was trying to assist me, he grabbed my phone repeatedly and about the 6th time, I told him that I did not like that and that it's kind of rude. He told me to, "go to hell." Which shocked me. I immediately grabbed my belongings and my phone back and retorted, "fuck off." I left his office and asked another employee to help me. The second employee was very professional and never grabbed my phone. Before the second employee helped me, the, "manager," followed me to the second employee's desk and said, "that's why you are sick, because you have a bad attitude and are negative." I told him it sounds like he is talking about himself. I can't wait to pay this loan off as I don't like this institution anyways. They will pay any debit you make, regardless if you have funds available and then charge you NSF fee. Last year, I opened a private checking account that had nothing to do with the loan- and there was no way of knowing which debit card went to which account. I had gone into a merchant not knowing which card would work, expecting that if I tried one card that looks exactly like the other, the one with no funds would be declined. It wasn't and I suffered $70 in NSF fees before I was told that it is their policy to pay when there are no funds and to charge NSF. . Closed that account real quick. In any case, this yelp was warranted in addition to calling the headquarters and lodging a complaint there. read more

We have banked with Chase for many years, and have substantial accounts with them. We were trying to close a Real Estate Transaction and needed to open a Trust Account for my mother in law who has dementia. Her two sons have Power Of Attorney over All her Finances and Health Directive, they said they would need to send the Trust and POA to their legal team back East to approve...we had to wait over a week and they denied it for some ridiculous reason (they had not even looked at the amended POA). So needless to say all I could do was cry...what are we going to do? We've had a car loan with American First Credit Union for a few years, so I thought I would give them a call. It was a blessing that Joe Peregretti answered the call, I shared with him our dilemma and what we needed to be done, he was so kind and patient with me, I was frantic...he said perhaps they could help, and asked for me to bring in the documents, and he would forward to Corporate and advise. The very next day Peggy the VP from Corporate called and asked a few questions and asked for 2 documents. I spoke to headquarters and some guy name will picked up and had so much attitude. If you run into a conflict with this bank that will not help you AT ALL. This is the worst bank I have ever used. DO NOT USE THEM! I have had nothing but problems from day 1 with them. From them losing my title paperwork which delayed my registration for 3 months, to charging me extra money for insurance because of that... they have the worst customer service in the world. I have to call them for a new problem every single month and I've only had a loan with them for 6 months now... Not to mention every time I speak with someone I have to get their name because multiple times now I thought issues were resolved and then found out the representmotives I spoke to never even made notes on my account... A few years back I started a new job and had a rep from the bank visit us at our local union training center and convinced me to kick Bank of America to the curd and eventually Chase Bank also. Now they are my sole bank . Fast forward 6 years and it's time for a new vehicle, the dealership where ready to jump to have us sign contracts but it so happen that the wife ask to just make a call to the credit union and I was approved at a lower rate. It's was very easy and since my direct deposit they had almost evething they needed already. They mite not have several location close by but you can use any ATM at any 7 eleven at no charge. On line banking is available but I'll rather make a phone call and speak to a person . Call me old fashion but we need more banks that actually care about their customers and this is one of them. read more

Run as fast as you can and as far away from this credit union as possible. I would give them less than 1 star if I could still write a review about their poor banking practices. If you want to do simple things like withdraw $3000 in person, they don't have the cash to give you then and there. If you want to transfer money through Zelle, or through regular account transfers, good luck! The automated systems are so bad, you can't even do online banking because you get caught in loops that say you are using the wrong PIN, even when you are not. Try talking to someone in person? They do not know how to resolve issues or get you to someone who can. They'll transfer you to another phone number that takes in a hell loop that won't resolve your issues either. When you add someone to your account, they won't let you create a PIN for that card inside the credit union. You have to do it by calling, and then you guessed it! You're in another hell loop on the phone. I have never had a worse experience with any banking establishment. We are going elsewhere and NOT soon enough. read more

Would be a zero star. I was just robbed by this bank. Opened checking and savings account a few years ago. Never used the account. Put in $50 just so I could have a credit union. My aunt brought me here because she has been going their since the 80's. Came in today to open an account for my son. I was told that they closed my account for no activity. I WAS NEVER TOLD WHEN I OPENED THE ACCOUNT THAT THEY WILL CLOSE IT DUE TO NO INACTIVITY. Then they took my $50 dollars and transferred it into my savings account. And charged me $10 a month for the savings account because I had no checking account. (Because they closed it). I NEVER gave them permission to move my money into my savings account. They should have just mailed me a check back to my house. How dare they move my money and then charge me. So I am telling everyone I know who banks here to watch their accounts since they steal money. Disgusting. And the teller I dealt with, Steve (I think) told me with an attitude. "You did get statements to the house right)? Soooooo there you go. Thought this was a better place then those main banks. But NOPE. stole my money and had an attitude about it. read more
