I bank with Chase.....Just never have wanted to change. Wow this bank is old school. Lines almost out the door. I was blown away, also quite big inside. I'll never bank with anyone else. Schools alerted me to a fraud which led me to find out someone stole my backpack and emptied bank account. They immediately calmed down and credited back everything. Thankfully it was less than one day but that was enough time to spend over a thousand bucks that I was gonna use to pay for rent. Easy peasy friendly service with a smile. Post Lockdown this place can get busy. I've seen the lines stretch out down the sidewalk. But the early bird "that's me" gets inside quickly. For a while they opened at 10am. Now it's back to 9am. If you come early you advoid the lines. Come later and enjoy the lines. I prefer going inside just so I can make sure everything goes where it needs to be and I advoid the ATM for larger deposits. Sometimes the ATM doesn't like my money. Service is friendly. Be ready to be greeted by a few people right when you walk in. They have a private security gaurd ready and waiting right by the door. Schools first has been really good to us lately. I had to take care of some financial business, which I had to sit down with someone. Nicole was so helpful, she is very kind and willing to help. She listen and went above and beyond. Please get an account here. If you have a family member who works for the schools- ask them. I've been with them since 2001. They've given me my first loan (I was borderline not going to get it but the bank boss at that time overrode it .) I'm glad he did. I never made 1 last payment because I felt such honor that that boss man believed in me. Fast forward 20 years; still loving the intimate locations, super friendly tellers, free coin exchange, no excessive wait on their hotline, the app is easy to use. They have overdraft protection for your checking in case you don't have enough funds. It's like a credit card for your checking so no fees! The fees here are minimal. I'm never had any. During Girl Scout cookie season time, I remember walking into the branch with tens of thousands of dollars. Didn't feel scared or sketchy. They even gave me so merchandise. First visit to this branch was this past Saturday - I had recently moved to the area and I always thought being smack in the middle between the HB branch and GG branch, that those two were my only options. Didn't realize until I did a branch search on the SFCU website that this location has less traffic-y streets, so decided to check this place out. First - does anyone notice the coincidence of how there always seems to be a Ross store near a SchoolsFirst branch? This is true for the HB, GG and now as I found out this past Saturday, the Cypress branch. Anyway, I walked into the branch and the place was bustling! The lobby chairs were all full, the coin machines were being utilized, the teller line had at least 10 or so Members in line. I stopped by the Front Desk because I noticed a familiar face and wanted to say hi - and then eventually made my way to the teller queue. The teller line on the Saturday I visited was at least a 20 minute wait. The wait is more so because they are so popular/busy - I can't really fault them since all available teller windows were staffed and operating. It's only an issue when there are available windows and no one staffing them - but that wasn't the case here. They were simply busy. I observed the Manager walking around the lobby allowing waiting members to grab snacks/candy from a basket - which I think is a nice touch. There are three SchoolsFirst ATMs located in the front of the branch - these are part of the COOP network, so other Credit Union members can make transactions fee-free. Note however that you must be a SchoolsFirst member to utilize teller services inside. They are not part of the shared-branch network. Wifi was spotty - I was able to connect to the network, but either due to so many people using it or whatnot, was not able to connect to my puzzle game to help me pass time while waiting in line. read more

It doesn't get any better than this when it comes to banking. I've been a member of OCTFCU... er... I mean Schools First since I was 5 years old. I found a $100 bill on the ground and my mom opened an account with it. I couldn't imagine doing my banking anywhere else. This location especially is my favorite probably due the fact I go here more than other locations. The employees are extremely nice and they still count out the bills old school.... no automatic machines. Besides basic banking needs I've done several things here at the branch such as purchasing a car using their auto buying service, getting a mortgage, refinancing my mortgage, and equity loan. Once my account was wiped out by identity thieves and the credit union got my money back ASAP! SchoolsFirst has ATM's everywhere and they dish out $5 bills! You can use other credit union ATM to deposit checks and withdrawal money without any fees. They have a great online banking webpage and phone app which allows you to check balances, transfer money, pay bills, etc. They have strict rule on how you can be eligible for membership(my mom worked at a school as did my Grandma) but if you can do it I highly recommend you join up. You won't have to worry about being nickle & dimed to death like the for profit banks. Oh yea... they have a coin counting machine in the lobby which is free to members! read more

On TWO separate occasions my fiancé and I have deposited cash only for their atm machines to freeze on us and take all of our money, we now have to wait 2 weeks for them to "resolve" the issue. Danny was a really helpful Manager, and did a lot to try and help me with my financial queries. Mabella or however you spell her name was incredibly rude and disrespectful, and should not be working in a place like this. Her Customer Service and people skills are non existent and she should get some vigorous training before ever speaking to customers again. The level of disdain and disregard she spoke to me with was disgusting. I've never been spoken down to with such disrespect. Her attitude was vile. She also wouldn't let my partner who is a joint account holder with me into the branch, yet let in a whole family of 3 adults in together. Shocking behaviour and way to treat anyone especially during a global pandemic, and businesses are meant to be kept at a 20% capacity. One rule for some, one rule for another. I knew she was going to be a nightmare to have to deal with from the start. All she did was give me her "So sad, too bad" routine, and tell me there's nothing this branch could do for me, despite me making repayments consistently for years without ever missing a payment. Outrageous way to treat a member of 5 years. She should be let go immediately. Absolutely useless waste of space of an employee. Danny, like I said was professional and reassuring and actually offered sound advice regarding my finances and credit. Props to him for rectifying my queries and concerns. When you walk in, they have a Coinstar machine to the right, a seated waiting area on the left, and a little beyond that, a table that has tablets for kids to use so they don't run amok. You are always greeted with a smiling employee and they have complimentary coffee (SCORE!!!). They have a variety of services/loans that are offered such as home and auto. They also offer financial advice for CDs, IRAs and other services. I always like to have my checks cashed in small bills (it tends to last longer), and I almost always have Corina help me.
