This is the place to go for pizza. The staff works as a team, so you are always taken care of. I tried the watermelon margarita special and loved it. We shared a salad, the veggie pizza with garlic scapes, and a classic with caramelized onions and mushrooms. Perfect for two, with leftovers for the next day. Wonderful local restaurant, where the food is great and they support local groups as well. Flatbreads are wonderful. Wood fired and wood flavored. Crispy crust as well. Two of us, one a full meat pizza fan, pepperoni, sausage, etc. And the other one who is Dairy sensitive, who absolutely LOVES the vegan cheese. This is a welcome business for the area providing one of the only sit down spaces for a large group for pizza/flatbread. The dining room can accommodate many different size parties, but call in advance for busy times of year (summer). The bar adds a casual atmosphere and during the summer, outdoor seating is an option. Of course, calling ahead for take out pizza is always an option! Our family loves the salads and they are happy to accommodate if you don't want a certain ingredient. We also love the Maine Potato and Chives pizza and Punctuated Equilibrium flatbreads, but of course, you can choose your own toppings too. They have a full beer and red and white menu- all great choices for meal pairing and a dessert menu with classic favorites and rotating items with vegan and gluten free options. Super good but this place is also super busy. I'm from the Midcoast and restaurants tend to struggle in this area unless you appeal to high-end diners. American flatbread is really high quality pizza at a reasonable price which is likely why they are always slammed. I was camping in the area and called multiple times on a rainy night. I could tell they were really busy because as soon as they answered they said " can you hold?". Unfortunately the person who picked the phone back up hung up on me. This happened twice. I called a third time and was told they couldn't serve anymore pizzas that night and it was only 6:00 p.m. I heard in the background someone confirm a $1,500 pizza order, so I'm thinking the super wealthy people in the area bought them all out this one particular night. The following day I called around 2:00 p.m. and ordered a pizza to pick up and had no problem. Their menu was the same as other Flatbread locations in Maine and New England. We visited this place during the Memorial Day Weekend. Wait times: We waited for an hour and 5 mins for us to be seated, which was fair considering it was memorial day weekend and we don't blame them for it. But the problem was after we were seated and had placed an order, we had to wait for another hour for our order to come. We reached the place at 7.30pm and got our food at 9.45pm. Food: We ordered two pizza - Casco Bay Community Flatbread (vegetarian) and and Free Form (Meat). The pizzas were okay, nothing great. Our friends who ate the meat one commented "I like Dominos pan pizza more than this". We also ordered a ton of drinks, they were all fairly prices - 8/9/10$ average. Young lady at the hostess stand that took our was super sweet. We called ahead because we knew they were closing in about 15 minutes and wanted to make sure it was ok to still head there. She assured us it was fine. We got there and placed our order. The COOK was obviously upset because we placed an order for two cheese pizzas and I guess he was upset about having to make a pizza. He began slamming the dough like a mad man and huffed and puffed the whole time while making the pizza. Terribly uncomfortable when this is the person preparing your food that you are about to ingest. At any rate, I don't even want to eat the food due to the negative energy that was probably transferred to my food. I am in town visiting for a week but will NOT be supporting this established. UPDATE: I returned the next day and spoke with the manager whom was so gracious. He apologized and was very grateful that I came back and brought it to his attention. He was very upset to have learned what happened. He made sure to rectify the situation and spoke with me in great lengths about how that behavior is NOT accepted. well this was a sh*tshow. we get there, wait 15 minutes and get seated. Not bad at all, especially for Sunday night. We get seated, order drinks, get the drinks, and other food. then... the waiting game begins. The clock ticked on... 50 minutes later, their pizzas come out. Are you kidding? Now, I understand being short-staffed, but if it's seriously going to take 1.5 hours to get food out to your customers, you've got a problem. You need to do takeout OR dine in.
