Very good for what it is. Cuzzy's is a tavern with food. The burger was exceptionally juicy and flavorful, but not exceptional. The chowder tasted of cream, the potatoes were soft and subtle and cooked and cut properly; the clams were fresh and the amount resting the just not enough range. As a Yelp Elite member, I don't give one-star reviews lightly, but unfortunately I feel this experience warrants one. My husband and I visited for drinks and spent a few hours at the bar. During the first part of our visit, we had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was friendly, we enjoyed meeting other patrons, including several Canadian Army veterans on a motorcycle tour, and the service from the initial bartender was excellent. We appreciated being allowed to play a complimentary game of pool. Unfortunately, the experience changed dramatically after the bartending shift change. From that point on, we felt unwelcome and believed staff chose to side with a small group of patrons during a disagreement rather than taking the time to understand the situation. Ultimately, we were asked to leave, which came as a complete surprise and left us feeling embarrassed and disappointed. What makes this especially frustrating is that we had spent a significant amount of money at the establishment and had been enjoying ourselves without issue for most of the evening. the way the situation was handled left us feeling dismissed and unfairly treated. We ordered our food as soon as the waiter arrived at our table and asked for waters. Our food arrived and was fine, not great or good. Things we ordered like condiments were missing and the waters never arrived. We had to glad the runner who delivered the food to grab the condiments and waters. I've been here twice within the last 6 months...actually tonight will make 3 times, as we are currently headed there for dinner....and I've been pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is fairly common for such a bar/restaurant in this area. Service was average. The food is what most impressed me. Had a burger during my 1st visit, which was a pretty large and tasty and the fries were good as well. The 2nd time I had the fish and chips, which was, IMO, even better than the burger. But the standout was the butternut squash bisque. O. M. G. Absolutely delicious and the main reason for making the drive tonight. After touring through Camden, my wife and I needed someplace to stop. After checking a few of the menus of other businesses and yelp reviews, we decided on Cuzzy's. Great little spot! Extremely eclectic! It was not very busy overall, so the bartender seem to have all the tables. It is a small bar, nine seats? We were delighted to see that they had Freak Show on their wine list. My wife ordered that and I ordered their tubular IPA. Though I had ordered their blackened haddock sandwich, blackened haddock tacos showed up. After the initial disappointment, I found that they were just as delicious, maybe more so than the sandwich! My wife ordered their Buffalo chicken flatbread. Overall, it was very good; however, it was missing the blue cheese. We thought the bartender was slightly eccentric, but really good and fun to chat with. It's not a bisque but a rich creamy stew with huge chunks of lobster. They don't skimp! The haddock sandwich is huge and fantastic. The steamed lobster (1.5 pounds) was first class. We were feeling cold after a windjammer sail and went to hotel for hot chocolate until night completely fell upon us. So glad Cuzzy's was still bright open! How are they able to serve food so fast? Our Overnite Sensation Pizza didn't taste overnight at all, it was fresh, piping hot, and tasty! Half Baby Back Ribs hit the spot for our meat cravings. It was more than enough food as the half rack was accompanied by potato salad, coleslaw, and a head of corn. Both of our restaurant choices for dinner required a minimum of an hour's wait so we made the unfortunate decision to dine at this bar/restaurant. No wait required should have been the first clue as to what this dining experience would turn out to be. The second clue was a menu offering a wide variety of junk food that we rarely eat. We each finally settled on beer battered fish and chips which also included coleslaw and tartar sauce. What we found off putting was the thickest batter ever conceived. My husband and I were staying in Camden and had a craving for some Nacho's so we decided to try out Cuzzy's and were very disappointed. The nacho's they have listed on the menu are chili nacho's and the cost is $19.99 . We are vegetarians so we ordered just extra cheese nacho's with onion's and jalapeno's and no chili. When they delivered the nacho's we less than impressed. They were extremally small and made on a plate you would use for a side dish. At the cost of $19.99 there should be an impressive amount of nachos! The cheese was not fully melted and they came with olives and tomato's both things we did not ask for. We did mention this to the waitress but her response was " well that's just how the kitchen does it " Which doesn't make any sense because we were requesting a custom nacho. She did not offer to re-do the nacho's or take the unwanted olives or tomato's off for us. We let her know we were dissatisfied At the end of the meal when the server delivered our bill we noticed that there was no subtraction for the removal of the chili on the nacho's but there was an additional cost for the extra cheese of one dollar. Total for the awful , small and undercooked nacho's was $20.99. Unbelievable and highway robbery! We then asked the server why there hadn't been any reduction in the cost of the nacho's seeing as we did not get the chili. A tiny plate of tortilla chips , cheese , jalapeno's and onions does not cost $ 20.99. She left and went to talk with the bartender ( we could see this conversation from our table.) When she explained the situation to the bartender we saw the bartender shrug her shoulders , shake her head and make a gesture as if to say " whatever" The server came back over and told us they can't discount the nacho's the price is the price. I then asked to speak with a manager and her response was " We don't have a manger working at this time... not sure where they are or when there coming in" We expressed to the server our dissatisfaction but gave up at that time because there was no point in furthering the conversation. The bar itself is fun although gets very crowded after dark very quickly. I am visiting camden with family and since this is the only bar in the area open late, we decided to come here for some adult family bonding! Sadly, my time was ruined because of the bouncer being a huge bigoted transphobe. The first night the bouncer looks at my ID and says "scary" so my cousin asks what he means and he shrugs. Irritating but at least i get in. The second night he allows all my family members in except me because i "don't look like my ID". I look exactly like my ID except with shorter hair, it was very clear I wasn't allowed in because my ID said Male and i looked feminine. I called him out for letting me in yesterday and he shrugs his shoulders saying it wasn't him. As if there's another 6'7 old man with a beard, right? Id never let this ruin my family time, but i certainly will report to the HRC as Camden, Maine clearly is not Queer friendly. The steamed lobster was overcooked. This was the first overcooked lobster we've had during our visit and so far we have eaten lobster for every meal. The lobster Mac and cheese was good and they were generous with the lobster. Fries are but as think potato chips but well cooked and crispy. The wait is long even though there were empty tables. But out of all the places we looked at this was one of the more friendlier places. We had to deal with some very rube staff at the other places. Avoid at all costs if you value your safety! I used to enjoy going to this local bar; mostly for the fun crowd it attracts. I love a good local bar. I've worked in the industry for decades and pride myself in being a gracious bar guest. I clean up after myself, am polite and tip well. But there is one bartender in particular who is downright demonic, mostly to women patrons. I was in with my partner to help celebrate a friend's birthday. As the designated driver, I decided to order just one tall drink and slowly consume it while I was there. I had about a quarter of my cocktail left, when said bartender grabbed it from me and tossed it in the sink. Again, I've worked in busy bars for years, so I understand that mistakes happen. I also understood that I needed to call the mistake to her attention before she does 10+ more things and forgets about tossing the drink. So I started to get her attention: "Excuse me! Hey, hello, excuse me!" With not even a glance or acknowledgement letting me know I had been heard before she stormed over to me, GRABBED ME BY THE ARM and yelled at me for trying to get her attention. She shook my arm while yelling at me! I wasn't even upset about the tossed drink. But once I tried to call her attention to it, it seemed more like she tossed it on purpose because I had been stirring the ice with my straw and it set her off. I was absolutely crushed. The way she grabbed me and spoke to me was so far out of line. She spent the rest of my time there that evening taunting me for no reason. She legitimately pointed and laughed at me. I was entirely sober and the only thing I was guilty of was trying to correct her mistake. I decided to call this horrible treatment out to her boss, Chris Cuzzy. I was supposed to have an in-person talk with him (which I know I am not entitled to a busy person's time. I just thought he would care for some reason.) but he did not show. I tried calling and emailing and my problem has been dodged. I tried to ask a couple other locals for advice and they have told me that this bartender has done things like this to other women and were unfortunately not surprised by her behavior. A few weeks later, I decide to brave Cuzzys again as I had a few friends in there playing pool I wanted to spend time with. I had someone else order my drink so as not to upset this bartender again. An hour goes by and the bouncer approaches me to kick me out. "Did I do something wrong?" I asked. "Yeah, you said H*****r assaulted you" Ohhhh cool. The boss told her but did not give me, the customer, a chance to be heard. THEN the bouncer continued with: "I'll assault you myself if you don't get out of here right now." Seriously? This man is very big and scary and that's how you choose to talk to someone who was just concerned about her treatment in your bar? All of this is very uncomfortable and I wish that it hadn't happened. I used to love Cuzzy's. I work in the industry locally and have people daily asking me for recommendations on where to go. And I have to tell them. Do NOT go to Cuzzys if you value your safely. (There was some dude just urinating on the sidewalk as I walked away from being asked to leave. And that's the kind of bar patrons they would rather entertain. They don't deserve your money) read more

This place was right across our hotel and we decided to give it a try. When we first walked in the guy who worked there (our waiter) seemed a little bit stressed out or a little bit out of it. Tends out he was really friendly and he delivered pretty good food, even though we waited to be waited on . Still enjoyed the experience though, food is okay. If you are in Maine as a local or as a tourist I would poke around more looking for some where else to eat though, not the first place I would go to. read more
