When you drive up, all you notice is overgrowth and weeds in every green space. Despicable! If the appearance doesn't bother you the registration process certainly will. I came in due to a workman's comp injury I sustained while working at Steward Jordan Valley West. I asked the registration clerk if they have access to those records they used to be Steward. She abruptly interrupted me and said that they were bought out and that Centura/Trinity does not have access. I replied that I have the information and will provide it. Just to understand and confirm what I heard her say, I asked differently about the records by saying, "....just to confirm, you're saying you don't have access?" The receptionist cut me off stating, ".....I TOLD YOU we don't have access!" Needless to say, I was taken aback. I asked her if she was having a bad day. She replied "Why!?" I said you're being quite abrupt. She replied, "Are you calling me a brat?" I said, "no, I'm saying you're being abrupt." She attempted to explain and I replied, "....it's not necessary." These two "first impressions" reflect the dismal experience I received and seem to indicate the level of professionalism and treatment the new ownership has and delivers. I am a firm believer in Attitude reflects Leadership. It is extremely sad to see that our community has to rely and reside next to and on a provider that should exemplify the essence of community and empathy when individuals who are dealing with emergencies or critical illness require medical attention and CARE! Drive in and see a run down, weed infested property and then get insulted by, "I TOLD YOU.....!" How dare you and shame on you're evident lack of respect to our community.

The correct location is on the west side of American Fork Hospital. Save yourself the confusion and look it up before you go. Once you find it, the facility is clean and the staff is nice. The space looks a little dated and could use some love, but nothing that affects the quality of care. Now for the part that will test your patience. I was called back immediately after arriving, which was a good sign. I changed into the gown, was walked to the area outside the MRI room, and then waited over 40 minutes before actually going in. Sitting in a hospital gown in a hallway for the better part of an hour is not a great experience. Go in with the right expectation and a fully charged phone for the wait.

I am writing this review regarding the care my husband has received in the office and care of Dr…read more Nick Thomson, oncology. My husband was diagnosed with Mesothelioma in June of 2026. While he was in the hospital at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, UT, he was seen by Dr. Thomson's nurse practitioner, Woody Palmer. Due to this encounter, we had a follow up appointment with Dr, Thomson. We went to the appt. Dr Thomson appeared to be thorough in his assessment and treatment plan of my husbands diagnosis. He was very quick to prescribe pain and managment drugs even though my husband wasn't having severe pain yet. We somewhat understood. We were still trying to wrap our heads around everything that was happening so fast in our worlds. When I asked about getting a 2nd opinion at Huntsman Cancer Institute, his demeanor changed. He was very quick to respond with, "Well I studied there and I can tell you this, they are more about their research than caring for you as a patient." That was his comment. We did go to Huntsman Cancer Institute. The dr. that we met with had reviewed the biopsy, Dr. Thomson's assessment and treatment plan and was in full agreement with his plan. The dr. was very gracious and up front with us about the treatment and ins. issues etc. He told us to go where we would pay the least because the treatment and care would likely be similar if not the same. After prayer and careful thought, we opted to stay with Dr. Thomson and his team because we felt we could get the treatment we needed quicker as we already had treatment 1 scheduled and we wanted to give Dr Thomson the benefit of the doubt and my husband liked the interaction and attentiveness he received from Woody in the hospital. In the time leading up to the 1st treatment, a lot was happening in my husband's body and with all these changes, we didn't know what was coming from what, what was the new normal to expect so we needed to have someone to reach out to. They told us they have a texting line that would be the easiest to reach the nurses and get the quickest response. We did not find this helpful as we were not able to reach them often and on the weekends it was terrible. Nobody to reach and they don't even work on Mondays so it was even a longer weekend. We ended up having to go to ER several times because we were not able to get our questions answered or resolved through their office. Again everything is new and a whole lot to process so we give them the benefit of the situations and figure we have to learn to live in this new age of AI bots and telephone systems of no real people. Each treatment is 3 weeks a part. We had the first treatment with no problem. You just go in their treatment room and their nurses give the treatment. The nurses were Kind but not super warm and friendly. The 2nd treatment comes, 1/2 way through they had to stop the treatment because my husband was having severe pain. The nurse reacted immediately and professionally. Within 20 minutes, the pain was reduced from 8-3 and the treatment was restarted. Shortly after restarting, Woody came in and explained that there is a serious situation in the calcium level in the blood draw done prior to the start of treatment 2. He said it is very serious and we need to go to the hospital. He said that they could give the medicine needed there in the office, but they couldn't because they would need to recheck it the following day which would be a Saturday and nobody would be in office to check it. We took him seriously and said that we would go to the VA emergency in SLC. Which we did and did spend 2 days in the hospital getting treated to bring it down. Here is my issue. In the time since July 31, the 2nd treatment. Nobody from Dr. Thomson's office has contacted us in any way. In the records that Woody wrote regarding the situation, he wrote in it that he would follow up. He has not. AND NOBODY ELSE FROM THIS OFFICE HAS EITHER. This IS unacceptable behaviour from any Dr. or their teams. My husband is,or should I say WAS now, their patient who had a serious medical situation happen in their office and they did not even CARE enough to check on him after the weekend nor up to today which is now 16 days past the situation. And Dr. Thomson had the audacity to tell us that another medical facility or dr. would not care as much as he or his team. I firmly felt from the beginning appt.that Dr. Thomson was more set on building his business but we wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. Now there is no doubt. He surely is more about building his business. It is my feeling after all of this, that they felt that we were going to go to the VA and that they would lose our business, therefore, they were just going to wash their hands of us at this time. They did not say this, as they have not contacted us at all. IS THIS THE KIND OF CARE AND TREATMENT THAT YOU WANT IN ONE OF LIFE'S MOST VULNERABLE MOMENTS.

I found myself at their ER often in 2025 while battling Hyperemisis Gravidarum, I didn't want to be there anymore than the doctors and nurses ( which was made very clear in the way they treated me) wanted me there. I received decent care the first couple times I was seen, but then I was seen by a certain female doctor. Her and her nurses absolutely reeked of perfume, and were the most dismissive and mean girls I've encountered in a hospital setting. I mean for working in the ER you'd think proper security of hair and maybe not dousing themselves in perfume would be more professional because most likely those coming to their department aren't feeling well and sensitive to smells? This is when my illness was at its most brutal stage, I had been vomiting so much that blood and chunks of my esophagus were coming out. When I tell you they couldn't care less, I mean it was written all over their faces. As I was discharged I thought "it couldn't get any worse than this right?" I couldn't have been more wrong. I had to drive up north 1 hour for prenatal visits, to get approved for a PICC line because the same doctors told me and I quote "you could ask to be approved for a PICC line but that's just extensive." I had it from 14 weeks to 34 weeks. It took me months to find a doctor who would help me, and I didn't find that help at Holy Cross Lehi. I only gave birth here because I was local to it by the time I was due. I gave birth at their center, and there's a particular nurse who was assigned to me as I labored. She was training a new nurse on the floor who was so kind. But after my cervical ripening, I was warned that the cervical check is known to be sensitive. I braced, but sensitive wasn't nearly the word I would've used. I was in so much pain I burst into tears, the trainee stopped because she felt bad and I wanted a break but then the nurse training her basically pushed her aside and did it. I've never felt more violated and dismissed in my care in my entire life, I was so traumatized my husband took me to the shower and I was uncontrollably shaking and could barely stand. I couldn't stop, that was by far the most traumatizing part, even above giving birth. Then comes the pediatric nurse or I can't remember her exact title, that I first had after giving birth, but she had smacked my babies back so hard claiming to be effectively releasing gas and air, I now realize after having burped my baby countless times, just how unnecessary and brutal force was used on my daughter by that nurse. I'm grateful for the staff I remember vividly that were kind and made a huge difference in my experience with their kindness and care. Including the kitchen staff and the lady who came to my room to take my food order. I'm aware this behavior stems from the individual and not the company as a whole, but it makes a huge difference when it's the most vulnerable time in my life or anyone's for that matter, because we aren't exactly coming to the hospital on our best days -- and I was treated with such carelessness. After a year long battle we have reached the end of the medical billing nightmare I reviewed about a while ago, which is a relief. But I write this to hope to see change and accountability, I don't want another mother or patient having this same story.

My dentist thought I should go to the ER for IV antibiotics for fear that my tooth infection had turned into something much more serious because the antibiotics he gave me weren't working. The admitting person was a sweetheart as was the male nurse; both compassionate, empathetic, and kind. The doctor came in and made me feel foolish and idiotic for going to the ER for 'simple' tooth pain, actually pulling faces at the mention of a dentist sending someone to the ER, and rolling her eyes. THEN, when she seemingly, finally decided to figure out exactly what was going on, she sat down in front of me and said, "Hon, tell me what is going on. How did this happen?" All I could think was, are you serious?? I mean look at my ginormous, pink cheek, lady!! She talked to me as if I were a child and was extremely condescending. I just felt stupid and wanted to leave and go to a different ER but I had an IV at that point (for blood tests, mind you, not antibiotics). Then she sent me in for CT scans of my face to make certain that the infection hadn't spread anywhere dangerous, finally taking my issue seriously. She didn't give me the IV antibiotics for the severe infection, she simply 'upped' my antibiotic (from the one the dentist gave me) to a stronger one. How hard would it have been to simply give me even just a injection of stronger antibiotics?? Or better still, through the IV that was already in my arm?!? Then, she numbed my tooth to take away some of the pain, which it did, for about 30 minutes when the pain came back with a vengeance. I feel like the doctor didn't like being told what to do from a measly dentist, or God forbid, me, and didn't do the antibiotics out of sheer stubbornness and pride. No, I did not go to medical school, I am not a doctor and will not pretend to know how to heal someone in the way a doctor can. I do know my body and knew something was wrong. I also know empathy, which this doctor didn't seem to posses, nor, really, did the female nurse who just acted like it was an inconvenience for me to be there. I went to this ER with the hopes of having some relief from my pain and severe infection. I left feeling stupid for going in the first place. There was no empathy, compassion, or even patience from this doctor. I know there are other doctors working at the Orem Community Hospital's ER, some with likely more empathy than was shown me, but I will *never* chance that again. I will drive the extra several miles to AF Hospital's ER where they are kind, respectful, and even humble enough to listen.

He explained to me the various renditions of a cold that I could be experiencing. He also thoroughly discussed the benefits of getting a flu shot with me, which I appreciated because I'm a proud annual recipient of the flu shot. Another nurse then came in to swab me for a Covid/flu test. All came back negative, thankfully. I didn't expect or want to need to access healthcare while on my trip, but this urgent care made it easy and quick--I was in and out in about an hour.
