I was pleasantly surprised! After living in a south for a bit, I've been missing southern style BBQ plates. The way they offered the plates was really odd. I ordered the pulled pork plate which did not include any sides. It came on white bread with a pickle on the side, and that's it. Sides were an additional charge. I decided to spring for the mac n cheese and collard greens. The mac n cheese was OK; the texture had a little bit of grittiness to it and wasn't very cheesy at all, just creamy. Collard greens were made with bacon/bacon drippings. It's tangy and bitter, but good! They bring out several of their house made bbq and vinegar sauces to add to your meal. I'll definitely be back to try a burger--they sound amazing. There is quite a bit to choose from on the menu, as they offer wings, chicken, and brisket if you're not a pork fan. Vegetarians will have to skip this spot as there are no veg friendly items on the menu except for a few sides. There appears to be plenty of outdoor seating in the back which I will absolutely take advantage of when the warmer weather comes. read more

Everything was subpar at this place we wanted to try something different. I got the pork it was ok but the chicken bites that we had were horrible. They were fried batter in sauce, very little chicken inside. Lots of sauce but just fried batter. It was not good at all. I had very high hopes for this local place. Day 3 of being ill from eating their Texas Weiner burger. It was pretty good until I looked down a quarter way through and saw that it was a "delicious" dark pink! My boyfriend's was clearly well done so I guess he's in the clear but I've been steadily having stomach issues which I won't share. I am living off of bland saltines, oyster crackers, pretzels, ginger ale, and Gatorade! From my experience ground beef should be thoroughly cooked, it's not a steak. Check your meat before you bite! I love this place, the food was good and decently priced; the caddy of house made sauces with pairing cards was a fun addition to the table. I had the pulled pork wrap and paired a different sauce with each bite. The French fries were cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We also had some soft serve, I had pistachio which was a little too sweet, but tasty. I throughly enjoyed this place and will be back soon. read more

This is our favorite restaurant as we are always here and have never ever had a bad meal. You can not go wrong with whatever you order off the menu. I love their Cadillac burger--they mix their brisket into the burger meat and top with curds are cheese and BBQ sauce,yummmmyyyy!! I also really enjoy their chef salad, their tacos, chicken wing wrap, a and their pulled pork sandwich. They have homemade sauces which are delicious but you don't need them because the meat is cooked to perfection. This is definitely as good as it gets around here. I have yet to order an item that disappointed and there is no barbecue place nearby that comes close to this place. Awesome barbecue and their variety of 5 sauces leaves every type of barbecue lover happy. I you like sweet barbecue or savory or vinegary, they have a sauce for you. The wings are awesome, the brisket and pulled pork are awesome, the baked beans and coleslaw are awesome and don't even let me get started on desserts. Their homemade banana pudding and silky chocolate mousse are amazing and if you want something just as amazing, but not as sweet, their strawberry shortcake is super too. Even the waiters and waitresses are super friendly and helpful. The only thing I might say is that the inside decor is lacking a bit, but don't let that fool you because all that effort was put into their menu and cooking and you can really taste it. read more

Food is always a B+ or better. My only complaint is the main guy who seats you. He tries to be nice, but just comes off as a dumbass. Party of four for lunch here last week. Wait staff is very friendly and very helpful. One porketta sandwich, one burger, two pit beef sandwiches. Everyone said their food was delicious. They have a nice assortment of BBQ sauces if you wish. I would have preferred if the horseradish on my beef was hotter - but that's me. I will be back and I will take clients there. Incongruous (I had to look it up too) Barbecue vs cafeteria Food is great - if I am looking only for a great meal and a bottle of beer, place to go. What would move it to 5 stars is some barbecue, down home atmosphere. The inside is almost too clean and sterile for a barbecue place. Needs some grittiness. Excellent food. Had the smoked wings with buffalo blue sauce. Then had the Cadillac burger. The wings were a perfect combination of flavor and crispness. How do you make the best porketa in the world? With bbq pulled pork the way they do at American Grill. Brisketa is off the hook too. We stopped in for lunch. The food was delicious! The service was friendly and fast and when our order arrived it was nice and hot. I ordered the homemade Hungarian Beef Noodle soup, you could tell it was homemade. I also ordered the smoked wings (sirracha honey)... spicy, sticky and perfectly cooked. Hubby ordered the Brisket sandwich. I had a bite, I am not a big BBQ fan, but I loved it. The fries that accompanied his sandwich were hot and crispy. (nothing worse than cold fries). Food is ok, service was ok. The issue here is the 'special sauce and ketchup' setup that's on each table. It's all 'home made', undated, watered down and in bottles that can easily be tampered with. I've never gotten around to trying the outdoor BBQ that looks so good but I've had the brisket quesadillas, a burger, and the fried chicken and waffles. Must say we cannot wait to try more! We ordered takeout for the first time from here and we were not disappointed! Both got burgers which were very tasty. The smell surrounding the place just from the outside made my mouth water. They gave us some sides of bbq to try as well. Today I went to the American grill, not our first time but definitely our last. I asked outside if I can order off the full menu instead of the alacarte outside menu, the staff said yes to go inside order what I want and they would bring it outside so I can eat it with my family. I headed inside and was greeted very rudely by a women who said I would have to order at the bar, wait for the food to come up and take it outside myself. Contradiction to what I was just told. The waitress said she would bring it outside but the same women said " I'm telling you how it's going to go, you can't run food outside" . Outside to their own eating area! Yet all the food you ordered outside was brought out from the inside kitchen . Who was the rude women you ask? In her own words, " I owe the place my name is Trista". Well u lost 6 customers, and the food that was ordered by my family prior to your rudeness, was TERRIBLE. Dried chicken, burnt skin, over cook collards, no taste . If I could give zero stars I would. You can tell a lot about a business by the way they treat their staff and I've unfortunately witnessed how terribly they treat the amazing staff while dining in. When things got busy there seemed to be a lot of yelling and unnecessary ignorance from the management to their staff in front of everyone in the restaurant, especially coming from the kitchen on the occasion I was in. I would prefer to give my money to a business that treats their staff well instead of knocking them down when they are doing the best they can. read more

The facility is very clean with a nostalgic look, and pleasant wait staff. However, unlike other customers, I was not thrilled with my selection. Not a of fan of smoked flavor, I ordered the porketta sandwich on sour dough bread. Thinking I would get roasted pork, with a porketta seasoning, (like from the Pittston Tomato Festival), I got what appeared and tasted like a pulled pork with smoked/barbeque flavor, on (toasted ?) bread. I asked my server if the fries were seasoned and her reply was no. So I confirmed by asking if they were plain cut fries, to which she responded yes. Well, they were not seasoned, but frozen fries, coated with a batter like substance that I would imagine having the texture of a deep fried cheese curl. On a positive note, the prices were good , and the portions of other orders I saw were generous. I would probably recommend this to fans of smoked BBQ, hamburgers and picnic foods. read more
