Part 8 of our Hot Doggin' 2025 NEPA series brings us to the Ranch Wagon out in Shavertown Pa. Now the wagon only serves foot longs. I am doing the Texas Tommy, along with a mustard, onions, and relish dog. They also serve other items like burgers and sides; they got more too. These dogs are grilled to perfection, the chili on the TT has a nice taste, the relish had a nice, sweet taste. The buns felt steamed; the dogs themselves had a nice grilled taste as well. I'm skinny and I don't eat much, but I'm telling you, I loved the food they have here, no disappointments, and they even have a outside dock u can sit at, but the best part was the service and food, a sweet lady that had conversations with us, and served us amazing foods like burgers, and very good fries. I've been coming to the Ranch Wagon for over 20 years. This place is just so unique and has the very best chili dogs and burgers. Great quality ingredients go into each and every item on their menu. Microwave is frozen for up to 8 months, it's microwaved with milk. Hot dog will be open in the fridge for weeks. Only fresh decent things they have are the shakes and burgs. It's like an Apple sweatshop in there too. Distasteful. -Mike read more

Dallas, Pennsylvania is one of the worst foodie towns I've been in. The only good thing you'll get here is American food. Hopefully you like pizza, burgers, and hot dogs because that's the only good food around here. Ranch Wagon is a great pick in this town for some good old fashioned American food. You can sit in your car to order and then wait for your food. Or you can sit in their outside area with about 3 or 4 picnic tables. We Hit this place on way back from Ricketts glen state park. Curbside service. Had a relish everything hot dog and a chocolate milkshake. Both were excellent. Price was very good as well. It was ok. I had a California Hamburg. I also had a hot dog. The chili sauce was pretty good. All in all its just an average hot dog stand. It's not the best but certainly not the worst. It's good for a quick bite to eat. I would go again. Oh I forgot to mention... Very friendly employees. read more

Not what it used to be. We ordered 4 hot dogs to go, got home and 2 were wrong. First bite into one of the dogs and bit into a plastic tie from a bun bag. Called them, they didn't answer the phone. Left a message and no return call. Very disappointed and will likely not go back. read more

If I could Ranch Wagon 10 stars I would ! This place is a blast from the past , traditional hot dog and burger stand . Their chili sauce is delicious and the buns are steamed . Came with my friend the other night for some binge worthy food. He got a regular dog and a chili dog while I got the Texas Tommy. We also got two orders of their potato pancakes and an order of the garlic bacon mac n cheese. Overall, pretty good. Having someone come up to your car and take your order is convenient and super kitschy. In terms of the food, everything that had bacon in the description seemed to lack bacon. The potato pancakes were like hash browns, bite size and crispy and 10 to an order! The mac was garlicky but not overwhelming. Next time I think we just need one hot dog each. read more

Just ate there today for the first time in years. Now I remember why. I got a foot long chili dog with everything. The bun was steamed so much it was soggy. The chili looks as though it was painted on. There were four dots of mustard and literally eight small pieces of onions. All this for just under 5.00 This chili dog is an insult to chili dogs. The place is horrible , we went there was handed a menu as we were going to sit and told the waiter would be right up. Well while waiting other people came a big party of like at least 15 . The waitress came and started to take their orders even as more of them were still coming !! We told her we were there first waiting and she just smiled and said oh well. So we left . I ordered a few items to go. When I picked it up they told me they were cash only!!! What kind of business is cash only??? When I got home, I discovered I was missing an item that I paid for. When I called them I was offered to come back to get another item or they will give credit that is good for 30 days When I told them I would need my cash back they told I would have to ask the owner. Then they told me the owner wasn't there and didn't even tell me the owners name!!! It's a shame...this place has been around since my grandparents time, but they have really changed! read more

It's a hot dog place. You can eat it in your car, you can eat it under their patio, you can take it home and eat it in your shower. They have French fries too (shocking, right!) I do like the potato pancakes with sour cream. They need to take credit cards. read more

They had a monthly special on burgers. Any burger for $2. It was small but very good. It was fresh and tasty. I will be going back.

Awful service. Called for a donation for my charity weeks ago and they said the manager would call back. Called today to see if the manager would pick up and a worked said hold on let me speak to him. I heard her tell her manager that I called a while ago asking for donation and didn't receive a call back and then I heard the manager scream "I HAVE NO TIME TO TALK TO THEM." The girl came back on the phone and said, "sorry our manager said he has no time to talk to you." Stunned I said that's okay and hung up the phone. I haven't been here in years. I grew up in W-B, but have since moved to Las Vegas. They now have curbside ordering and you don't need to leave your car. They also come prepared with change, for $20, since most people usually have a 20 on them. This might be one of the most efficiently run places I've been to in a very, long time. They start with a 4 stars just because they don't take cards. I drove by last weekend and stopped in to find out that they're cash only. I wasn't planning to be around here or I would have had cash so I had to go elsewhere. But since I was craving their cheese dogs I made it up here the following weekend. Good size cheesedogs and not horribly priced- though they aren't exactly cheap either. But I've never had a complaint with the quality of my food here and I do like the curb service. read more

I have been coming to Ranch Wagon since I was a child. The way my Father tells it...he's been coming here since he was a child almost 50 years ago. That's all to say that we are a fan of Ranch Wagon. However, this last visit I had--I was up vomiting all night long. I can't say that I got food poisoning from this location, but I ate the same thing as my significant other all day, and the only deviation was my chili cheeseburger from Ranch Wagon. I had an opportunity to go to Ranch Wagon just a few days ago, and when I declined because of that experience--I decided I should write this review. I'm not a hot dog fan but I love this place. I've been coming here for about 10 years and it never gets old! I pretty much get the same thing every time, relish everything double steamed. My younger son gets a burger and seems to like it. The chili cheese dog is pretty good too. While I'm not a fan of their fries (very generic and usually not super crispy like I like them), that's not what they're known for and so I'm not judging them on them. Hot dogs good. Not as good as it used to be. Pork sandwich was dry even with extra relish. Confusing is when you ask for everything on the dog they ask you relish everything or chili everything yet menu only offers everything or chili everything. Nothing refers to a relish everything. Just ate here with my significant other , and wasn't what I really expected. He got the chili cheese hot dog and I got the California burger. He said the hotdog was too wet and that he couldn't even taste the cheese on it. My burger was soggy and the fries were like hospital fries. Honestly if you want to waste 20 bucks eat here. The service today was horrible. We were waiting for an hour and a half for our food and we were starving. They at least could've gave us our drinks. We thought at first we would've had time to go to Hillside Farms for ice cream but not enough time. We left and we weren't the only ones who did. I have to say it put me in a bad mood. read more

The food was delicious. I highly recommend their puffs. Deep fried yumminess. Their burgers are good and thry have some interesting picks on the menu. The three stars was for friendliness and location. The road is too busy, so if you're going to eat and go, you're good, but if you want to sit around and enjoy a nice day there's tons of traffic 30 feet away. read more
