When I purchased my current home, she advised me to offer as much as I could without properly investigating the property. She later sent another new agent to complete the inspection after I had already agreed to buy. As a result, I ended up with a 20-year-old HVAC system and water heater -- issues I wasn't made aware of -- and I significantly overpaid for the house. When I posted an honest review about my experience, Redfin blocked me and told me I could no longer use their services. That's fine -- I wouldn't use them again anyway. I lost a lot of money through this process, and I believe Redfin and this agent acted unprofessionally and without integrity.

I had the misfortune of renting a home managed by Davies for about 2.5 years. I would never do…read morebusiness with them again. -The house was in terrible condition, and the agent had made deliberate attempts to cover up damage, such as applying new paint to walls that were literally rotted out -The yard was completely overgrown, and there was little grass at all in the yard -- most of it was cut weeds -The wooden fence was falling down, literally rotted away -The gutters had not been cleaned in years, in some cases the silt was 2" thick. It took me days to clean them out -The garage door had no springs. You had to prop it open with a stick. -One day, part of the roof collapsed over the garage. After several attempts to get the problem fixed, the management company sent a roofing crew without telling me -- who arrived on Thanksgiving day. And the final insult was when I left. Having fixed up the place beyond the level that any renter should -- replacing blown outlets, repairing faucets myself, cleaning literally decades worth of accumulated grime from window tracks and such -- Davies actually withheld a significant chunk of my security deposit for "cleaning fees." In short, an awful company to deal with, on every level. Update, 12/18/15: Not only did the general manager, Alain Gemond write a review of his own company (which he gave 5-stars), he personally attacked me in the review, and continued to lie about this property. And today he had the unmitigated gall to email and offer a bribe for me to delete my review. I thought I couldn't have a lower opinion of this "company." I was wrong.

A good real estate agent will know the area, know the laws and rules and will help assess your home and get it listed and sold for a "good price". A great real estate agent is a counselor, a partner in your effort, someone who "has your back" throughout the process in addition to doing all of the real estate work. Philippa Main is an *outstanding* real estate agent and an even better person. My father passed away leaving a home in Woodbridge, Virginia - the home in which I grew up and which contained almost 50 years of possessions. I contacted Philippa in March of 2026 to discuss its potential sale even as the house was in significant disarray while I engaged in the slow process of cleaning it out and sorting through the many things my parents had accumulated over the years. When she visited the home, I looked around and threw up my hands. Philippa looked around and said, "we can make this happen." I sought her out specifically because she mentioned having expertise in sales of homes that are inherited - a particular niche that involves a delicate dance of handling family dynamics, wills, probate laws and determining what, if any, money should be put into renovations or improvements that will get a reasonable return on the investment.
