WiFi password? They should definitely give that out when checking in and I have no paperwork that would show it

I love a hotel that's housed in an old office building--there's something that feels both efficient…read moreand luxurious about it. I like to imagine the industry that played out in the space where I'm resting, the thought of someone taking a break from wheeling and dealing to look out of this same window in the 1940s and what else was going on around them. I'd never been to Meridian before, just passed through on the same road trip home after the holidays. It's about 4 and a half hours from NOLA and the perfect place to stay before the final leg of the trip home so that we'd be home at a reasonable hour. Meridian feels a bit frozen in time and this hotel is situated in a quaint downtown area. It's not very lively, even on a Saturday night but I believe the rooftop bar here might be where the action is (I passed it by when getting water in the gym that's on the same floor). I like a Tribute property, which always promises a less corporate/more boutique stay. It has its charm (original mail chute, be still my heart!) and quirks (tiny rooms, old timey elevators that take their time). The main lobby is mainly the restaurant (closed when I arrived around 9pm on a Saturday) with reception in what seems like bank teller windows. I appreciate the convenience of a Starbucks right next door (entrance from the lobby) and if we weren't looking to rest after a endless car ride, there's a few places to get food/drinks within walking distance. Rooms are cozy, beds are excellent and the bathroom is small/nothing special. Would this be an ideal stay for a vacation? Probably not, though I don't expect a vacation in Meridian anytime soon, if ever. I'd stay again, as a more interesting road trip stay than your typical Marriott Courtyards/Fairfield/Residence Inns. When we stayed it was only a little over 100 dollars/night, which is pretty sweet.

For dinner we ordered a salad and dessert from the menu and some iced tea. Pretty simple order. The sweet server came out three times apologetically and said we cannot make the salad you ordered, we can only do a Caesar salad but also they had no shrimp or chicken to top it with. They were also out of ice tea and the dessert we ordered. I ordered some coffee and they were out of filters. Same thing happened for breakfast, they were out of fountain soft drinks and some menu items. We understand that things might not be available but so many in one stay? We are hoping this is not a trend downward for this wonderful place to stay. Shoutout to the valet folks on arrival and departure! They were excellent!

Negatives: Tiny fridge that didn't work (but was replaced), no working exhaust in the bath with an open shower concept, a minimalistic style room with no drawers or closed cabinets or closet (open hanging), hanging light was missing a shade, there was a leak upstairs that left a stain on the ceiling, and a large scuff mark on the wall, I couldn't get my electric window blind to roll up, no microwave, and no guest laundry. Not really the best setup for over a couple days stay. I stayed over a week with pets. (I'm comparing to Home 2 Suites where I usually stay which has a kitchenette with almost full fridge, microwave, sink, dish washer, optional hot plate, pans and dishes, a couch, and guest laundry for the same price - at least I get it the same price). Overall, I would rank it below Home 2 Suites for the lack of conveniences. So give it a 7 and H2S a 9. But the light laminate floors are a plus with pets!

The staff truly made the experience exceptional. One employee, in particular, went above and beyond when dealing with a flooded room situation (not our room). Despite having to work overtime, he maintained a positive attitude and handled the situation with professionalism. His good attitude and humor were truly appreciated. Even at checkout, the friendly demeanor continued. The front desk agent (Torian) interacted warmly with my niece, making her feel welcome and valued. These personal touches left a lasting impression and solidified my positive experience at the Hampton Inn. Overall, I recommend the Hampton Inn & Suites in Meridian. The clean accommodations, helpful staff, and welcoming atmosphere create a perfect stay for business or pleasure. The rooms were also updated. They made our visit for the passing of our uncle a lot more peaceful.

The carpet looked filthy, the bathroom floor looked dirty and the beds barely looked made. We skipped the breakfast expecting such a poorly maintained site would also have a horrible breakfast. If we hadnt been so tired last night we would have left as it's crazy to pay $159 for that room and I'm a Hilton rewards member.
