Contacted them here in Los Angeles, because we needed a birth certificate and a marriage certificate translated, from English to Czech. the money was paid upfront, and when i received the translation it was incorrect. i had asked. native czech individual to personally translate, and they assured me it would be. It appeared to be a machine translation because the errors were so blatant that a competent person shouldn't have done this. dates were wrong, translation was wrong in places. i called and spoke to them, it appeared that they didn't much care and never apologized, the next set they sent was still wrong, forcing us to have them translated Inh the Czech Republic again due to the errors that ALS made. i would never use them again if there was less than one star they would get it from me. buyer beware read more

2 stars because they waived the invoice. Otherwise, it would be 1 star. My mother required Korean interpretation services for a legal matter. The process of setting up an interview went well without any issues. The issues arose the moment we needed the interpretation. Thank goodness I was present and was able to translate accordingly or else it would have been extremely troublesome. The interpreter called promptly at the scheduled time from an international number, which was not communicated to me prior, so I was slightly taken aback. Then when the interpretation was supposed to start, the interpreter's accent in Korean was so difficult to understand, we ended the call early. The entirety of the call may have lasted 25 minutes but the interpreter stayed silent for most of the call before I ended it. The interpreter attempted to translate about 2-3 sentences but I had to intervene each time in order for my mother to understand. The interpreter's accent when speaking Korean made it extremely difficult to decipher what was being said. When I brought this to the sales representative Nancy Zuniga's attention, she replied back with the interpreter's feedback, where the interpreter stated my mother was actually understanding what was being said in English, and then insulted my mother's intelligence saying she did not understand legal terms in Korean. My mother did NOT understand what was being said, but she responded to the lawyer's comments by nodding and stating "mhmm" such as it is normal to do this in Korean culture. This was NOT a reflection of my mom understanding what he was saying, but rather a Korean cultural response in reciprocal conversation. My mother is intelligent enough to understand legal terms in Korean, and the reason why she could not understand what the interpreter was saying was NOT because she didn't know the words; she literally could not understand the interpreter's accent. I am bilingual in English and Korean and even I had a difficult time understanding and deciphering the interpreter's accent when she was attempting to translate. The way this entire situation was handled was extremely poor and unprofessional. I will NOT be using ALS Global services again. read more

This company was contacted by my firm Socks Law Associates on 7/12/22 via quote inquiry for a job we needed the following day. After receiving a quote for the required on-site interpreter need (Spanish to English interpretation needed) and providing them with a credit card authorization form I later received another email stating they were not in fact available to complete the job. They however took it upon themselves to still charge my client's card in the amount of $668.00. Not only did they provide me with a quote of $495 they charged a ridiculous price for something that they did not complete. Now I am being told it takes a few days to get this refund taken care of and stated that the credit card authorization form is only to "check for funds before the assignment but since services were not provided funds will not be pulled" however my client is showing the charge in his account and I was provided with a receipt for this charge as well. Alan's response contains untruthful info. First, we were not a new customer. Second, they provided the quote on 10/11/24, which was sent to me by our paralegal to fill out the credit card form ALS said was required to even start the job. I emailed Emma Gagnon on 10/11/24 at 2:28 p.m., and advised we are allowed to advance costs of up to a maximum of $250 for the insurance company client on this case; that payment of the $3,618 quote would have to come from the insurance company and requested their W-9. Alan's comment that "After the client delivery, we were asked not to charge the card," is simply not true because, as you can see from above, we made them aware payment needed to come from the insurance company on 10/11/24, not after receipt of the translations, which were received on 10/18/24 as stated below. After emailing Emma on 10/11/24, Reuben responded on 10/14/24 at 3:33 p.m. saying the contract was with us/our credit card would be charged. I requested an invoice on 10/17/24, which we received on 10/17/24. I sent the invoice/W-9 to the adjuster for payment on 10/17/24 asking her to send payment by Federal Express to ALS so payment would be received by ALS before completion of the job, then filled out and returned the credit card form on the basis of ALS's previous emails that the job would not be started until the credit card form was received. I received an auto response that they had received the credit card form at 1:55 p.m. on 10/17/24. On Friday, 10/18/24 at 9:16 a.m., less than 24 hours after their receipt of the credit card form, we received an email from Emma with the translations, which total 138 pages of discovery responses. There is no way these translations were completed between 1:55 p.m. on 10/17/24 and 9:16 a.m. on 10/18/24. What ALS said about the translations not being started until after receipt of the credit card form was not truthful. I emailed Emma at 9:20 a.m. on 10/18/24 attaching my email to the adjuster w/the invoice-W-9 requesting payment be sent overnight, which she confirmed receipt of and said she had forwarded to Reuben. Reuben emailed at 10:57 a.m. on 10/18/24 that our credit card had been charged. They were unwilling to work with a repeat customer to receive payment from the insurance company after the situation was brought to their attention 6 days before getting the credit card form, and 7 days before providing the translations to us, even after acknowledging it was our paralegal and attorney who caused the problem to begin with, and requesting the professional courtesy of them changing payment from receipt by us to receipt of payment from the insurance company. Alan's self-serving response is filled with dishonesty about what actually happened. It is sad that customer service is no longer a thing. Think twice before using ALS. Just look at the history of the bad reviews left about this company and Alan's responses thereto to see the pattern of behavior. read more

We have solicited this company to provide us 4 French translators for WOC Expo Las Vegas ,February 2016. Two days before the event they send an email informing us that they cannot honor the price already communicated so they put us in very bad situation and we were obliged to reduce the number of translators from 4 to 3 and paying online the difference of $257 by credit card . After the event we received an email informing us that the 3 translators had done an extra over time and we have to pay the sum of $2800. So they took that sum from our credit card without authorization. We like to be refunded or we will sue this company in small court because we have all the evidence that we are scam victim. read more

Avoid them for video translations services. If you're working on a time schedule and have clients expecting to have timely work done, do NOT go to American Language Services. They left me and my clients holding the bag on some translations we needed for an edit. I had two freelance editors and clients in a room waiting for interviews to be time-coded and basically wasted an entire day on a highly time sensitive project. Cost me about a thousand dollars and they are still charging me for the service, bear in mind I had already paid them once for a translation and was paying a second time for more specific work to be done. They delivered the exact same file to me the second time and they asked to be paid...again. When I continued to call them for updates they said to stop harassing them and hung up on me. read more

Do not use these guys. We asked them for a certified translation of a Spanish-language document with declaration. Apparently they paid someone in Argentina (why Argentina??) to translate the document, and then gave us a translation with a legally-inadmissible that was signed by somebody who didn't even do the translation. Imagine hiring a court-reporting company which, after the deposition is completed, refuses to give you a declaration by the actual court reporter who completed the deposition. You'd be pretty shocked right? That is this company. I talked with the owner/supervisor. This guy shamelessly explained to me that they routinely have declarations of translations signed by people who do not do the translation. He refused to give me a refund or give me a proper translation without fee. Run! read more

The same thing happened to me. I WILL NEVER WORK FOR THEM AGAIN! They gave me the runaround about their forms, and then they said they never received my invoice, and the deadline they set (!!) had elapsed, so they wouldn't pay. Fortunately I sent the invoice from my MAIL in my computer, which has a record of when, what and where you sent mail. I pulled it up on my desktop computer screen, AND TOOK A PICTURE OF IT WITH MY CELL PHONE, and sent it to them, stating that if they did not pay me I would sue them. Do not use this service! They are not available 24/7! They don't even deserve 1 star. On a Friday I requested an interpreter for Japanese executive in Orlando, FL, for the following Monday morning. I received an email that they could provide the interpreter and to complete the cc form to confirm. I did so and received the auto-email of confirmation. Next day I called to confirm receipt and discuss meeting location. - no answer! Emailed urgency - no reply. Monday morning here with no interpreter! I will NEVER Use this service again Nor will I recommend it! I was asked by a representative of a client to assist them by suggesting a translation service for use while in the United States. I researched various Services and Chose Am Lang Serv. Due to their quick reply to my email, a conversation with their Vice President of Sales, their impressive website touting credentials with all the proper memberships, so I suggested them to my client. I was assured they had an interpreter qualified for Medical and legal terminology and that they would be able to accommodate the schedule specified by my client. My client also contacted this service and was assured providing a qualified interpreter for the time frame required would be NO Problem. Once my client paid their upfront fee, the story changed.. My client contacted me upset that they seemed to be playing bait and switch with him. I scrambled and suggested another agency that I had interviewed and been impressed with.. Unfortunately my client having already paid the fee stayed with Amer Lang Services.. American Language Services not only tried to gouge him on the services provided by upping the daily minimum from 3 hours to 6 hours, they sent someone who was NOT Qualified to interpret Medical terminology or Legal terms. As it stands now, the representative of my client (who just so happened to be their attorney) is threatening to start legal proceedings against ALS! Really bad translation services. I sent 4 different documents, and the translated all 4 documents with just one paper saying that it was an official translation. I asked them to print a seal or sign in each of the documents translated because i will look like more official! they refused my idea. I have had this services with different companies and they translate each document with seal or sign in each document!!! Besides, if you want the translation with official notary services they charge extra $50. I will never contact them. read more

Needed an interpreter Spanish to English first time doing this and no idea how to go about it. First the individual who picks up the phones I don't know if it's the same but I happen to get the same one the second time I called Again he is horrible I can't understand him does not speak clear and he's very direct and brief with his answers and rude he completely sucks I was debating between 2 Interpreting services ALS global was a cheaper one I was going to go with them but the guy was so miserable and disrespectful that I ended up going elsewhere and paid a little bit more, I don't know his name because he never introduce him self by his name I wish I did so I can expose his lack of customer service in the middle of our conversation he was giving me the email address to send my information and he gave it to me so rapidly like if I was some sort of a robot to perceive everything he was saying, And he hung up on me in the middle of our conversation.As far as the service the interpreting service that might be great I don't know but the introduction part of it is awful and if this individual is temporary due to the coronavirus thank God, if he is permanent he should be spoken to about his performance and who knows maybe he is the owner who unfortunately Hass to work because some associates can't or do not want to work because of the coronavirus if that's the case I hope this coronavirus stuff completely eradicated from our lives so our lives can go back to normal And hopefully this individual Can go back to whatever he was doing hopefully it's not als. read more

I am a nationally certified (RID-NIC) American sign language interpreter for over 8 years... 12 years of interpreting experience altogether. American language services was one of my first agencies and I have been with them for over a decade. I have never had an issue getting paid from ALS. In my dealings with the agency, I have to agree with the review from Tae. They have been nothing but professional in every way. Interpreting American sign language has more specific requirements then other languages, and most general interpreting agencies are NOT sensitive to the needs of the Deeaf community. ALS actually listens to the needs of the consumer and advice of their interpreters. This is critically important for the Deaf community, as the interpreters and consumers know better, the specific needs, and resources to meet them. I have also referred other spoken language interpreters to them. They also speak very highly of American language services. Over the years most of my interactions have been with Ramon, but no matter who I've talked with, all of my dealings have been positive, friendly, and professional.
