Enjoyed our stay at the Aquarius Casino Hotel. Check-in was…read moreeasy, and we stayed in the Arizona Tower. Bell service was quick and super helpful. Housekeeping was outstanding -- whatever we needed, they took care of it immediately. The rooms in that tower are a little dated, but there's plenty of drawer space and a great view of the river, at least in the room we had, which was on the 17th floor along the river. The rooms offer a Keurig-style coffee maker and bottled water which is free. Water pressure in shower was decent. The only downside is there's no in-room safe. The casino floor is loaded with slots, including a lot of modern machines, plus a decent-sized table games area. There are a few restaurants and a small food court. Staff throughout the casino -- including the drink waitresses -- are constantly checking if you need something, which was a nice touch. We primarily ate at the Aquarius Café because it has amazing deals and the food is decent (reminded me of old Vegas deals) Overall eating there was a huge savings compared to the other options. Valet parking is free, which is another nice touch. And like all the casinos along the river, you've got quick access to water taxis to hop over to other casinos. Of all the casinos located on the river, the Aquarius is by far the nicest. Another note if your gambling winning here was not something we accomplished, but we had a great time

UNBELIEVABLE. I was invited to this VFW by Don, a member of my community. He went there to sing…read morekaraoke. I signed in as his guest at the door. There was a doorman to sign me in. My girlfriend and I sat at the bar and ordered 2 glasses of wine. The female bartender had a really hostile attitude from the first words from her mouth. She asked from my VFW card. I said I'm a member of the American Legion, but not the VFW yet. She asked me who I was a guest of. I told her Don. She went over, had a heated conversation with Don. Came back and said " I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you're out of here". I couldn't believe what I was hearing. As a veteran who honorably served during the war in Vietnam, this woman was actually kicking us out (rudely). I was treated better being spit on because I was in uniform in the 60's ( and called a baby killer ) by long haired hippy freaks. This maniac of a woman made them look good. After telling each other to "F" off, we left. And, will never be back. The place had a bad vibe. There were maybe 8 people in there. A place that could hold several hundred.

Four years ago it was $25.00 a night. The price has risen to $40.00 now. Still no WiFi, no cable & no TV reception. They've also changed camp ground hosts, which created some confusion during check-in. Nothing too bad, just a bit frustrating. The Lodge is still serving wonderful meals & drinks at reasonable prices.

DAV helped me with my initial claim for V.A. disability based on Agent Orange exposure in Thailand…read moreprior to the PACT Act being passed. I filed a claim for diabetes type II and prostate cancer based on Agent Orange exposure at my base in Thailand where I was stationed from Dec 1974 to Mar 1976. I was granted a rating at a time when the V.A. was denying most AO claims from people based in Thailand. Very satisfied with DAV's service so I became a lifetime member. I received a 40% combined rating in 2017 for this claim. Since that time I have had more health issues develop which are all related to my exposure to AO in Thailand. In April 2024 I was awarded 100% T & P combined rating with Special Monthly Compensations K and S. My current ratings are 20% diabetes type II, 20% prostate cancer post surgery residuals, 10% bilateral diabetic peripheral neuropathy left foot, 10% bilateral diabetic peripheral neuropathy right foot, 30% Stage III Diabetic Chronic Kidney disease, 100% Left Ventricular Hypertrophy w/congestive heart failure and stable angina with less than 3 METs.

I am a retired female veteran and I became a life member with DAV Black Mountain Henderson, NV, in…read moreApril 2019. I asked DAV Adjutant if I could assist veterans' on their claims. I was able to be scheduled for a one-day training, then got certified for it, and then I ended up volunteering to work at the VA. At the end of the three months working there, I was told they didn't need me as I was not on their roster list. I don't know their protocols as they have to follow it and it sounded like they did not follow it correctly. So I questioned them till I was satisfied as to why their actions happened the way it did as these leaderships were with this organization for years as I didn't hear anything negative about my work that I assisted them on. I do not have a witness who I feel I can trust there will back me up when this first happened and it got worse where that person may not know later. I was told there is a meeting for me but was told it is not mandatory. At the same time, I was asking them questions about why I"m coming to this meeting and finally they told me what I was signing, then I didn't show up for their meeting as it was a trap from them. They finally mailed me priority certified of a Reprimand and threatened me as I was still a member; then it said if I continue to harass them from my questioning them that I will get an Article XVI, possibly higher level disciplining. I was mailed another Reprimand letter from them within six days after the first letter as I felt this was harassment and a threatening letter from them. I heard that in the past another female veteran was given a Reprimand due to her race and gender.
