This place was very unexpected for the description of pub and pizzeria…read more The atmosphere and ambience is a vibe as soon as you open the door very upscale, clean and inviting. Friendly staff, upbeat, lots of smiles. Server was great she was from Chicago one of my favorite cities. The food is great, cannot say enough about the chicken bacon ranch calzone it's amazing one of the best I've ever eaten. Also have tried the Ruben sandwich with fries. Sandwich was tasty but Extremely small portion for the price and the fries are skinny so eat them fast or they'll get cold quick. Been back 3 times. Placed a to go order on the way home from Ann Arbor and once again it did not disappoint. It was lunchtime on a Wednesday and they were packed with a 25 minute wait time, so glad I had placed a to go order, but that just goes to show you how well they are doing I highly recommend checking them out, I'm definitely gonna mane my way around

TW: This place bleeds money at your expense…read more This establishment needs an overhaul and warn their customers about drinking cut off rules. Our first waitress (we went an hour before shift change) was really sweet, but our last waitress informed us about the beer/drink limit for the bar. However, our previous waitress was filling our glasses nonstop and my husband wasn't driving, I was drinking Pepsi Zero. The manager shows up after requesting her, with a major attitude and a definite need of a makeover and proceeded to inform us that there was a "companywide" limit on alcohol. First of all, you're an establishment, not a company. You have all of 2 locations. (Another group of people were walking out with us, and they also had the same problem and there words exactly were "lets go get some real drinks, ones that don't cost $14 and let's go somewhere we can actually drink." WOW!) On a side note, why do you have more than 5 host/hostesses (who are all on their phones, even though they're not "supposed to be")? You need 2-3. Why do you have 30-50 waitstaff for an establishment that warrants 10 at best? Do you enjoy bleeding money? If you're looking for a job where you can stand around and do nothing all day this is the place for you. We won't be returning to any of your "company" establishments. BTW you're in Jackson, NOT Ann Arbor. ***Update*** They informed us that the waitstaff decides if someone "appears" intoxicated. Managers will back up their waitstaff at all costs, even if that includes losing business. Therefore, the second waitress stated to the manager that he "appeared" intoxicated due to the number of beverages he had consumed, yet she was unable to provide any evidentiary support as to what "he appeared intoxicated" means. In other words, this is discriminatory nature of practice based solely on the number of alcoholic beverages you've consumed. BTW if you want a really good dinner go to Burger King down the street. Their food is better!

I don't know what happened, but for whatever reason this place has turned into a crazy busy college…read moretown kind of bar on some of the weekends. Mostly extended weekends when everyone is back in town to see family and friends. During the day, week, and a lot of weekends, it's just your typical less populated dive. They only accept cash, so you have to be prepared for that, but the drinks are ridiculously cheap and they don't skimp on the pour to make up for it. Cocktails... not really their specialty. This place is used to beer drinking regulars and people who want their liqueur straight up. They'll make you one, just don't have high expectations because this is not that kind of bar. There is a pool table and bar food. No full kitchen so the menu isn't overly impressive, but booze is more of their specialty. The staff is older and can be kind of crotchety, but that's usually if it's one of the crazy nights that all these young kids randomly show up. They weren't that kind of bar, I don't think the staff knows why these kids keep coming back, and they are slowly learning to embrace it. If you're a laid back person, looking for a cheap drink and a random conversation with a stranger at the bar, this is your kind of place. I've met some really off the wall folks and the regulars can keep you entertained for hours if you strike up a conversation with one... don't expect half of their tales to be true, but enjoy the ride.

I will NEVER pass up the opportunity to have nachos on a patio on a sunny day!…read more Ordered the nachos, added ground beef. Have to admit when they were initially served my reaction was disappointed. They looked pretty plain and the chips "cheap" especially for the price. Boy was I wrong! Ok..well...the chips were pretty cheap quality. You might not even notice though because of the excellent cheese (yeah not the orange gooey stuff!) and generous about of ground beef. The cheese, beef, and jalapeños were SO good! Since I drink NA beer it's a must on aforementioned sunny day with a patio. They have two options. Could have more...but no complaints. Our server was EXCELLENT. I wish I'd gotten her name so I could mention it. I think they said my table number was like 206 or 207? in case aa manager reads this because she deserves a shout out. 9 years of working in restaurants myself I don't say excellent often. She didn't miss a beat without being overly attentive, and was very kind/friendly. Blue and white nails if that helps bc again she deserves a shout out. :) I only went inside to use the restroom but WOW it's beautiful. I believe this place has been opened for almost 50 years so they must have redone it. Its big, beautiful, bright. I'd definitely go back on a winter day and sit inside bc it's bound to lift your spirits. Clean restrooms, ample parking, across from the beach. Well done, beach bar!
