Had an appointment for them to come out to unlock my gooseneck, that I broke the key off in 30 minutes before my appointment. My truck decided to lock me out at Walmart has some wiring glitch when you start it. It locked in the doors instead of when you put it in gear, so I shut my door to put my cart back he came right out, had me in there. The key for my Subaru had broken loose from the transponder remote fob. They were able to replace the chip and use my key blade in a new remote fob rather then having to completely replace the whole thing. My cost was under $70 and I was in and out within 20 minutes. Friendly service with a smile. I will return for any future key needs I may have. The Quality of work was poor, as I found doors that she dismantled and never completely reassembled. I never received the spare keys even after being promised and paid for. We needed a security gate re-keyed. We needed to find a new locksmith and were led to American lock. They picked up my call the first time I called and Steve helped me to realize I needed a new knob but said he could get it overnight. The next day he called to say they now had the knob and could come to our location to install it and key it to the key of our choice. Within 5 minutes his locksmith, Louis, appeared. This is a company that when you call for help, because you are locked out of your car, they say they are on their way and you wait for help to arrive... Reality is when they showed up they took all my cash $50.00, left me standing in a Walmart parking lot, in the pouring rain, while my car was running. THEY DID NOT UNLOCK MY DOOR I wonder if bad reviews are deleted since there are absolutely none, that is suspicious, especially considering the morality of the people that showed up after I called for help. I called American Lock and Key and was informed somebody would call me. I did receive a call from a man that stated he would come and unlock my car. When I asked how much it would cost, he was elusive and stated "I'll find out". I asked again because he was mumbling and unclear and he stated "we'll have to see how much it is when I get there". A vehicle marked American Lock and Key pulled in, two men got out, one man started taking equipment out of the van while the other one spoke to me. I then again asked how much it was going to cost. He stated $150. I said, "I don't have that much money on me, so I will not be employing your services". He didn't leave, but the other guy kept walking around my car assessing the situation, and it appeared as though he was going to unlock my car, but he didn't. I again stated, "I guess we are done here then", but they were not leaving. Then the one man asked, "well how much money do you have on you"? I said about $50. He said, "well I'll take that from you then". I gave him the money and asked if he was going to go ahead and unlock my car. He said, "give me the money first". I guess in hindsight, I should've said you unlock my door then I'll give you the money. After I gave him the money they left. He took my money, did not unlock my car, left me standing in the pouring rain, while my car was running, and never unlocked my door. He was right there, standing next to my car, with my cash in his pocket. He had already made the trip without quoting me how much it would cost, that should have been his cost of doing business that way. I don't know why I gave him the money, I felt it was the right thing to do. Unfortunately, we don't live in a world where people do the right things, lesson learned. read more

I had done business with American Locksmith once before and was very pleased and happy with the service. This second particular experience was very impactful. I had a removed the cover of my ignition and was hesitant on taking the ear off myself to put the cover back on.
