I have a bill from AMR for the full price of an ambulance ride because, in the words of my insurance company, AMR is not submitting the proper paperwork in the right format for payment. This has been going on for 8 months now, and AMR is now threatening to send this to collections. I have tried calling AMR multiple times - and have asked a very simple question, "Have you followed the process outlined in Colorado by House Bill 19-1174 for initiating arbitration between you and my insurance provider?" The people on the phone are offshore and have no idea what I'm talking about. Looking around the Internet, I have not found a single positive review for this company. The best advice I can offer is to explicitly provide instructions to 911 and/or any healthcare provider that you're using that may require transportation that you do NOT authorize the use of AMR. There have a staff that is young and inexperienced. They didn't listen to the patient in the ambulance. They were on their cell phones the entire time. Never took patients blood pressure or started an IV. I was charged 5,000 dollars. If they show up to your house , run!! You are better off without them. read more

This is the worst company on earth! Steer clear--better to call a cab. They charged me $1650 for a 15-minute non-emergency trip between hospitals. The trip was so bad the guy had to hold me on my cot, since the suspension was broken. He kept apologizing but it was just abysmal. Is there a lower rating than one star? This review isn't for the caring paramedics arriving on scene. This is for the corporate office & their billing department. In 13 months, my mother has required 15 Emergency Room visits & 8 hospital admissions, most requiring a transfer to a 2nd or even a 3rd facility by ambulance. In most of those cases, AMR transported her. I currently have 15 bills from these people thanks to the lies they have told me for this entire year. They have already been paid by Medicare & keep going back & forth on whether they would consider my Mom for their "Compassionate Care" program that could wipe of the remainder of her bills. They send me the program's application, I fill it out & submit the requested documents, then they send the application again. When I call in to inquire about the status of the previous application, I get various answers. One CSR (they use "wonderful help" from India BTW) tells me the application is "under review" but another says it was denied & even if I wasted time & money to send in the 2nd copy of the application, they'd automatically reject my Mom again. Then, when I, at the very least, get the to admit their billing system is screwed up by sending this application a 2nd time they threaten to hang up on me for daring to reveal their stupidity & dishonesty. I saved them the aggravation & hung up on these CORPORATE LIARS. Meanwhile, my mother, is in a skilled nursing facility recovering on day 55 of her most recent hospitalization in specialized facility #3 & receiving therapy up to 3 times a day while I have to deal with these people going back & forth on being "compassionate". Take my word for it, they're NOT compassionate, have no intention to ever be compassionate & likely don't even know the meaning of the word. All of this for the remainder of bills Medicare already paid for. I truly feel sorry for caring paramedics who do their job on scene well having to put up with such a disgusting corporate system. Some of them have been to the house so often in the past 13 months, they know my Mom & I (I'm also my mother's live in caregiver) by name & remember previous trips. That's class & respect. Their corporate system & the outsourced Indian CSR's would know class & respect if it bit them on their lying, disrespectful backsides. I apologize for this review listing me as being in San Francisco. We live in Akron, OH & received AMR's services there. For some reason, logging in with Google shows the hometown on Yelp as San Francisco & I've yet to find a way to change that in the account. read more

The worst. The ambulance service was fine it was the billing ( and double billing with 2 accounts) and the out sourcing to people you can't understand. Went on for 3 years! Insurance paid them in full. It was a nightmare. They would apologize, tell us the bill was paid then in a month or two or more send another showing no payments. Our insurance co. called as well with no luck. Could never speak to anyone in the states. Finally our attorney got involved and that seems to have worked. We will see, we have gone as long as 10months and then another bill would come. read more

This is the most inept company I have ever dealt with! AMR just threatened my 98-year-old dad, to take him to collections, because they can't get their billing straight! They billed Medicare, but refuse to bill my dad's secondary PPO insurance. I called AMR's billing department on 2/26/18, 4/6/18, 5/22/18, and 7/5/18 and I have spoken to Charles, Joyce, Rain, and Ken, all who had assured me they would bill my dad's secondary insurance. But he kept getting bill after bill anyway, until they finally threatened to take him to collections! My poor dad is 98 years old, just suffered a stroke, and is so upset over this. After receiving this threatening notification, I called AMR for the fourth time and spoke to Ken, and he told me that the PPO would not cover ambulance service. I explained to him that they do cover ambulance service, and they even gave me their fax number to give to AMR so they could fax the bill to them. I explained to Ken, that I just needed them to bill my dad's PPO, so it would go towards his yearly out-of-pocket deductible, and then I would pay the bill. When I was getting nowhere with Ken, I asked to speak to a supervisor, and Ken kept putting me on hold and then getting back to me, for a straight 30 minutes, giving me excuse after excuse, why I could not speak to a supervisor. I explained to him I was on a lunch hour from work, and my time was running out. Ken continued to give me the runaround, until he finally transferred me to a supervisor named Dan. But before I got to explain the situation to Dan, our call got disconnected. I had given Ken my phone number, so Dan, the supposed supervisor, could have called me back, but didn't. So my complaint about AMR is not so much the medical response of the ambulance service; they did a good job showing up on time and getting my dad to the hospital after his stroke, but with the service they give you afterwards. My dad's bill from them was $1647 and all I needed them to do was to send it to his secondary insurance so it would go towards his yearly deductible and then I would pay the bill, and they refused to do so. Instead, they chose to threaten my poor dad, and take him to collections! To me, this is just bad business and despicable! read more

Rating Negative I was not informed during a hospital to hospital transportation transfer for emergency surgery that AMR was not in network. If they had been I would only had to pay $ 259 out of pocket instead of over $1200. This is a very poor business practice , this company has the upper hand at the patients most vulnerable time. This is the only ambulance service in our area. I was informed if balance not paid this would go to collection agency and that would affect my credit score .This adds up to being penalized for requiring medical care. I pay our bills and obligations in a timely manner but the charges are highly inflated. I am a very dissatisfied customer and this company should be ashamed. read more

They don't even deserve a one star rating! My son needed transported from Boardman, Ohio to Akron Children's Hospital in Akron. Brian and Megan came to pick us up. Our first impression was Brian walking into my sons room with chewing tobacco in his mouth. I road along with my son in the squad and Brian asked me to sit up front since it was a long ride. The ambulance ID number was 52015 on the dashboard. Brian punched a couple of things into the phone mounted to the dashboard (work related, something about paperwork not being ready......we had no paperwork as I had already signed the only consent form to transport my son before they even got there). As soon as we left the hospital (11:00 pm, dark and raining) and got onto route 680 to head to Akron Brian, while driving, began texting on his personal cell phone that he kept on his lap. At one point he was looking at a picture that I believe was sent to him. As he was texting there were a handful of times he was drifting lanes. When he caught this, he would act as if it were intentional, and as long as the coast was clear, continue the lane change. He never once used his blinker to indicate any lane changes, only to exit route 76 when in Akron. He told me personal stories of him being picked up for speeding in his personal vehicle on his way into and home from work. He also shared stories with me about your company that nobody but employees should know. When arriving to ACH ER department they unloaded my son's stretcher. We were then wheeled into an area where Brian called up to let the staff know his transport was there. When asked for the patients name, he did not know it. He instead asked my minor son who had been given narcotic pain medications for his name. When the intake nurses came down to triage my son in, they simply asked the EMT's where the IV site was. Megan replied that it was in his hand. WRONG!! It was in his AC (inside elbow area) which tells me that she never once checked his IV site during the approx 50 minute ride to the hospital. At one point I happened to look down at my sons hand hanging over the side rail of the stretcher and noticed dried blood next to my sons hand. I called on Monday and spoke to Operations Manager Ben Chambers and he assured me that this was completely unacceptable and that all issues stated above would be addressed that evening when Brian and Megan came in for work. Ben gave me his word that I would receive a call back that evening with an outcome. I heard nothing. I called his office again Tuesday morning and was told he said to tell me that "he was busy and he had my number and would be calling me back." It's now almost 10 pm on Tuesday and not a word. Not only is what's taken place unsanitary and unethical but also ILLEGAL!! Not to mention the issue of SAFETY!! I will be taking additional measures to get this word out and make sure that these issues are addressed to ensure that the safely and well-being of others is never put in jeopardy as my son's was. read more
