DONT BRING ANY COMPUTER PARTS!!! This place does not know how to evaluate electronics at all and their employees will throw,kick and toss all ur stuff around in the dirt, wont listen to you, and chipped paint off my car when i told them i dont need any help unloading onto a dolley. i dropped off 30+ military class 4 motherboards and 30+ hard drives just for them to misevaluate and mis treat my items. Theres other places in tempe that will give 250+ for items like that with rhodium and gold and evaluate it properly, and give u the right amount for ur computer parts. read more

I took in three or four plastic grocery bags of cans at the end of my last trip here and got about a dollar. This trip I had about twice to three times that much, two kitchen trash bags full. It still came to only $1.80 for three pounds. At least it wasn't far to drive here, but still hard to justify the energy saving them other than the reward of knowing I was recycling. I saw pickup trucks loaded with metals lined up going in a different entrance and the guy ahead of me inside the office got over $50, so I guess it's worth it if you have enough pounds of scrap metal. read more

Not finding what he needed at another metal source in the east valley, we trekked on over to American Metals. Fun fact: American Metals sources all of these smaller shops. You can't miss the yard. The property is surrounded - rather enclosed by cut metal conex boxes that have a nice old rusty patina. I thought it was cool. And, it helped the neighborhood, as other nearby yards of various businesses were visible garbage heaps. Eyesores. But not American Metals. They had the metal Mr. P was looking for, and he even arranged for the pieces to be cut. The purchase process was friendly and simple. The worker who cut the pieces was really friendly, and even put the metals in the back of our truck for us. American Metals also purchases scrap, which was notable at a yard to the north, separate from metal purchasing. New And Improved! I have been coming here for at least 15 years and it's amazing how nice it is now here. It used to be a little hole in the wall rough spot and now there are nice new buildings and everything is so much more organized! Great spot if you need some metal for a project! Been taking my scrap metal here for years until I caught them scamming me today. I brought a dump trailer load of scrap metal earlier then brought one at LEAST 33% larger a few hours later and it was the same EXACT weight. EXACT TO THE POUND 14,980 tare 12,960 net 2,020. that is not possible. Plus how is the tare the same after probably burning 4 gallons of fuel? They have the scale set to a max. I have both invoices and photos. Called the guy out on it and he didn't know what to to say and had the deer in headlights look. One and done. Game over. Stay away. read more

I just dropped off some old steel equipment and brass this morning. I had never been there before. Everyone who assisted me in yard was very helpful and courteous to me. From the guy who weighed my truck/load, the other gentleman who helped me unload and finally the man assisting me at the small scale, they were all great! I needed some angle iron for a garage door addition to a shed. I don't know anything about metal but had a general idea of what I wanted. They were super helpful and had me in and out in 5 mins. They only charged $2 to cut the angle iron for me so I didn't have to attack it with a grinder at home. read more

I have not been here in a while... They have cleaned up the look quite a bit...but.. Today i stopped at American Metals since its close to my job. Wow, what a waste of time that was! I was kinda greeted by the Snotty, office ladies with there "i dont know" "You'll need to wait" ready to blurt out at you! Before even starting to asking anything. Ha! All i need is a half stick of 2" steel square [hitch material]... No dice! WTF! I'll be heading to Industrial Metal Supply right passed american metals all the way from san tan valley. IMS is much better organized, Larger inventory and easier to navigate through with MUCH nicer staff. read more

Second visit, first review. Friendly helpful staff. Feel good recycling cans, get a little cash back for it, can't go wrong. If you have a child interested in machinery and cranes this is the place to take them. They are very well organized. Will definitely continue business here. read more

This place will rip you off left and right! The people here are rude and dishonest! They told me one price for a full bed of aluminum, then turned around and gave me .6 cents because it had TWO screws in it! I know what painted aluminum goes for and it's not .6 cents!! It's a bit out of the way, and I am more familiar with the Chandler yard, but this location is now the closer of the 2. I've only been there a few times, so the getting in and out is a bit confusing still. The staff has always been rather cool, however, and generally have been helpful. Not like aluminum or steel is as valuable as silver or gold, but it's nice to be able to recycle it AND get a bit of money back. 4 out of 5 stars so far. :) read more

Always incredibly helpful. And the pricing is fair and reasonable. The location is as clean as a recycling yard can be. I come here often and have never had a problem. Great for small businesses who need to get rid of left over cables, wires or steel. read more

Every time I come to this place I feel like I've won the genetic lottery. These people are rude, lazy and stupid. Normally I don't write negative reviews like this and totally trash the people. But this is dozens of times frequenting this place and being treated like garbage before I leave this review. I wish I could leave zero stars. They never pay you what they say they will. They always want you to unload everything by yourself, and I'll add that these bins are usually 8 feet tall. Yeah, you want me to throw a truck load of sheet metal into an 8 foot tall bin? Yeah right. Everyone in the office is rude, everyone that works in the yard is lazy. I hate this place. read more
