It was quick and easy, exactly as he described over the phone. He was pleasant to talk to and the services were very fairly priced, even blowing out my desktop from dust for free. I have a custom built desktop that needed a new power supply, which I assumed beforehand, and Tony quickly confirmed. Tony was also able to install a new SSD that I had brought in. I called ahead on the phone to see if they had time for me that day, we scheduled a time, and it was done that day in about an hour or so. He charged me exactly what he paid for the parts, even showing me his order online, then charging $100/hour which is very reasonable, especially when he cleans out the computer and keeps the cords tidy with zip ties for free. read more

I unfortunately spilled fresh hot coffee on my laptop one day (UGH!) And later then night I noticed the AC Jack no longer detected my adapter, therefore the computer could not charge. I brought my computer to American Micro to see if he could fix it. He was brutally honest with me, essentially telling me I would have to disassemble the computer, wash the parts with alcohol, and pray for the best. He essentially told me it would not be worth spending the $150 fee to do such a thing. He offered to teach me how to remove the parts on my won - he spent about 20 minutes helping me disassemble the computer to assist me. Long story short, I ended up purchasing a new computer at Best Buy - I was already thinking of buying a new computer since my laptop was 4 years old. What matters is the owner of the shop is not looking to trick any of his customers. I really appreciated his honesty. Really nice and helpful. I knew I had a virus or 2 on my computer. Came back clean and with extra virus software on it so I can pick the one I like! Also helped with a space issue. When my laptop refused to boot, I knew that I needed professional help to get it back up and running, but wasn't sure who I should turn to for reliable service. After reading several reviews here on Yelp, I decided that my best option was American Micro, and it definitely was! I contacted them Sunday evening over email, and by Monday afternoon they had already contacted me and told me to stop on by. They are conveniently located on Maple Dr. in Williamsville, right near my work, and I went over later that afternoon. Unfortunately, it was too late to save my hard drive (I only wished I had stopped by sooner instead of trying to fix it myself), but Tony and Eric went right to work on trying to recover my files. The next day, I realized that I didn't have much on there worth saving, and since a new hard drive was already in the cards for me, we decided the best course of action was to stop the data recovery and replace my hard drive with a new SSD. The very next day, today, I stopped by to pick up my laptop, now fully functioning with a new SSD, Windows 10, and antivirus software installed. The pricing for all of this was very reasonable, and the service was excellent. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, I cannot recommend enough that you take your business to Tony and Eric at American Micro. I know my way around a computer very well, but I had a tricky situation with a machine I put together myself. (wouldn't POST.) I did all the usual troubleshooting, with no results, before I realized I needed help from someone that might have spare parts to swap out, tools to test my power supply, etc. I emailed American Micro on a friend-of-a-friend recommendation. Eric, one of the owners (i think?) got back to me within hours with incredibly thorough recommendations about things to try. I was impressed that they'd spend the time to help out a stranger who just sent an email. But, no luck, and I asked if I could bring the machine in for them to take a look at. In their shop the next day, Tony and Eric and I talked out the problem, and eventually got it resolved. There was a bent pin on my processor. I'd re-seated it at least twice, but never thought to flip it over and look at the pins. A day later, I'm typing this on what seems to be a fully-working computer. American Micro was tremendously helpful, collaborative, and they provided a quick solution to a problem that I wasn't sure had a good answer. You wouldn't believe how little I paid. I was having issues with my computer that I couldn't quite figure out, where my computer would randomly freeze and the audio would buzz. Everything I tried couldn't fix the issue after troubleshooting for a month and a half. The most frustrating part was that I couldn't find the cause of the issue to force it to happen. So I called these guys up and Eric was able to assist and give me advice on what I should do. After examining my machine he recommended that I replace the power supply, which seems to have done the trick. These guys are not only great for major repairs, but also for small questions and recommendations to fix minor, nagging issues as well, such as driver updates and support. A few weeks ago, I was complaining to a friend of mine on how slowly my old laptop was running. He told me about American Micro. Something had my computer suddenly running very slowly, or locking up entirely. I brought it in on a Saturday afternoon, after all of my usual fixes didn't work. Tony was extremely helpful, plugging it right in and running diagnostics. Much to his surprise and mine, it turned out to have a failing hard drive - hard to believe as the computer was only 15 months old. He not only replaced the drive and reinstalled the OS, but attempted to retrieve any data from the old drive, and recommended a different antivirus trial program for me to use. He didn't try to "up-sell" or recommend a lot of unnecessary services, was very personable and their prices are more than reasonable. I had my computer back & running by Tuesday. My old PC was moved to basement storage when I purchased a new iMac system to replace it. The PC has the Microsoft Flight Simulator software package but is old and has outlived it's warranty and extended warranty. I recently tried to turn it on after several months of inactivity, It was just too cold down in the basement. It seemed to turn on but the monitor showed the "no signal" message. I tried all the basics checking for loose cords and such. I stopped at the Big Box Store and was given a listing of costs of diagnosis and blanket coverage, kind of another extended warranty. For a system with very limited usage it seemed excessive and I walked away. My wife saw my disappointment when I arrived home and said "why not try the guys across the street?" Yes I live across the street from American Micro. I called and Tony said to bring it in. I expected to have to leave it for a few days and then get an estimate. But no, this business understands what Customer Service really means and has exceeded all my expectations. Tony explained their pricing up front and began testing the PC. It took more investigation than expected and both Tony and Eric dived into it. I could tell that not only do they know what they're doing but actually enjoy troubleshooting and solving problems. Bottom line, I have a working backup system that was repaired for less than just the diagnosis fee at the Big Box Store and it was fixed on the spot. Eric you saved me on this one! My laptop had fallen and of course the hard drive broke. Being a student, I basically live off my computer so I was devastated! I brought it into Eric and he said he would take a look for me. Sadly my hard drive was unreadable but that didn't stop him from trying. He ran multiple programs trying to get data off for multiple days and in the end ordered me a new hard drive. He installed it for me and set me up with some nice antivirus. His prices were great too!
