Thank you to Jordan, Andy and Hayden! They moved us back into our house after a massive remodel. I have brand new hardwood floors throughout and my walls are freshly painted. I was totally freaked out about my new floors and when I told them about how worried I was they completely covered the floors with blankets before they moved my furniture into the house. They were very efficient in emptying my storage unit and moving the stuff into my house. My floors were 100% protected and I'm so happy! There was just one minor mishap, someone hit a wall in my sunroom with a small side table. My sunroom is painted a dark blue so the ding is very noticeable. I didn't find it until after the movers had left. Luckily for me, my contractor was at the house on moving day and he repaired the ding and the painters are going to repaint the area. read more

I am happy with American Moving and Storage. I scheduled the move last Saturday. The company communicated well with me before move and checked me multiple times about the schedule that I am happy with it. On the day of the move, two men came. One is younger and the other is older. The young man is strong, quick, and communicated well with me. They carefully moved my items. For instance, they used the plastic films to wrap my furniture that there was no scratch on any of my furniture pieces. They also did not break a single item! read more

The company employees were courteous and helpful form the moment I called until our move was done. I received a verbal quote over the phone, and after I booked the move, a confirmation arrive by email. On moving day the two movers arrived a bit early, and quickly emptied out our house and garage. They finished the entire move in less time than estimated. The only caution I have to share is that some of our mid-20th century vintage wood furniture got some minor scratches and scuffs because they were not as well-wrapped and padded as they could have been. I'd recommend that you ask that your wood furniture be padded AND wrapped before getting on the van. read more

I have used American Moving twice, and had a good experience both times. This past time, I moved a condo from Boulder to Englewood. They charged me exactly what they quoted me (no hidden fees), which was fair in comparison to other moving companies. Jason and a local Chicago mover packed up my recently deceased mother's apartment in Lincolnshire, IL so quickly that my sister commented both on the speed and the friendliness of Jason. When it was delivered to me in Longmont, CO Jason and Andy did an amazing job, were quick, efficient, strong as heck, and funny to boot. They both deserve 5 stars. The company had so many different jobs needing delivery at the same time that someone else's box got added to mine. The company took too long to pick it up (over a week) and it has been many weeks since delivery that they haven't responded to a request to parch a bit of dry wall that got dinged. The company gets only four stars. But I would use them again! read more

Do not use this company. They will quote you one price, go through all the motions, then come to examine the move and quote you another substantially higher price for things that were mentioned during the intiial conversations. Extra labor fees also get tacked on. The bait and switch is an interesting business model, but not one that I would recommend. Disclaimer: I did not use them for the move. This is about the experience of trying to use them. Submitted an online quote request. Was given a quote with a lot of line items and significantly higher than the 3-4 other moving companies. When I inquired about the high cost and line items, the sales rep promptly replied asking who else I was thinking of using, then he sent me a Yelp link to the reviews of those companies, pre-sorted by the worst reviews at the top. Not a good way to earn business, by bashing competition. One of the line items was for an extra vehicle. Because I requested 4 movers, their trucks can only fit 3, so they need to charge $300+ for another vehicle for the extra mover. Uh, isn't that vehicle that person's car? Not sure why I would pay that much to have someone drive to my house, then drive to the dropoff point. Lots of extra surcharges, most of which were assumptions based on my online quote, but did not need to be included up front. Overall, just not easy to start business with. Who knows, they could actually do a good job moving. read more

The company was ok. They did the job and they were able to do it soon after I called them on relatively short notice. There are a few downsides. You have to pay for **all** their time, including the time it takes them to drive from broomfield to where you are (here it's boulder). They let you know that, but they also said that it would take about 20 minutes when in reality it's more like 45 minutes (and at $125 an hour an extra 30 minutes tacks on quickly). It took the guys about one hour and 45 minutes but they charged me for 3.25 hours, so that was annoying but again, part of the game. What was slightly more annoying was that although the movers were nice guys they spent a fair amount of time moving the truck around, finding places to park, etc. Again, part of the job but it just racks up the time spent and it didn't really seem like they were super aware of the time. Also: I was told that I was going to get a confirmation phone call the day before but that never happened, and the guy doing the move called me from a faraway state's area code so I didn't answer, but since he didn't leave a voicemail that once again delayed the time. So the downsides are more a pile of little things, but they end up adding up to quite a bit of extra money at the end of the day. read more

Exceptional! My husband and I were in a desperate position moving from Colorado Springs, CO to Chesterfield, VA when a different moving company started "adjusting our pricing" before they even picked up our furniture. They must have thought they had us between a rock and a hard spot since we had to be moved within the week. I spent the evening freaking out and calling moving companies at 8:00 PM and leaving messages, not expecting a call back until morning. The only one who called me back was American M&S and they called back within 10 minutes. They were professional, honest and extremely efficient. The owner was able to calm my nerves immediately, and the movers and packers were incredible. They showed up when they said they would, they packed professionally and they stayed within the quote that was given. I had a contact person to speak with throughout the entire move and no surprises at the end. I highly recommend this company and will us them again. Thanks again to everyone. read more

So I have quite a bit of expensive art, and statues, and lovely cut glass. Oh, I forgot to mention the big purple sleeper sofa that two teams of men couldn't get out of the second bedroom. Did I mention the five foot high ceramic vase that weighs a ton? Dan came out and figured out that craters were needed for four things. Then Gil, Mat, Christian and Brad showed up to pack and load my precious stuff. I left for coffee when they started getting the purple sofa prepared to squeeze through the needle ( nice visual, yes?) coward that I am. Oh, and then my cleaning woman called to say she couldn't make it because someone had mashed her front bumper and run. Gil said he knew someone who could come over and clean. A phone call and that problem was taken care of. When I came back from coffee the purple beast was sitting in the living room without a scratch on it or the door frame ( how did they DO this?) The crew called me over many times to show me nicks and scratches so that I would know they protected my scratched stuff. Here's to Dan and Gil and Mat and Brad and Christiana. A more professional group you will never meet who not only protected my stuff, but did some amazing generous problem solving! Instead of a glass of wine at the end of the day to sooth my woes, it was a glass of wine to celebrate a job well done. You gotta use these guys! read more

My husband and I were planning a local move within Boulder and after doing some research, I decided on American Moving & Storage. From the start, I found them to be professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. The office staff listened attentively to my needs and detailed inventory, then gave me an estimate that was very accurate. They were responsive and answered questions that popped up in the weeks before the move. On the day of the move when we had a last minute change (we decided to move some stuff out of a mini storage space in addition to moving from one home to the next), they entire team was very accommodating. We were very happy with our 3-man crew of movers. They were hard-working and courteous. They worked fast, but carefully. In addition to moving our possessions, they also packed our kitchenware and dishes saving us a lot of work. They were well-organized and made sure to arrange furniture as we asked. I was referred to American Moving by a friend. We did a local move (2 miles away), and needed our biggest pieces moved. Gabriel was really friendly on the phone, called and emailed with quotes quickly and made the whole process go smoothly. Sean and Ricardo were the team on the scene and they were amazing! They did a great job coming out and estimating the cost and then following through till we signed with them. But the mover themselves did not treat antiques well at all, no special attention to how they carried or wrapped them(if they did) We had lots of scratches and dents on much of our furniture, even new pieces. They give you one week to turn in any damages. Unfortunately, we were busy fixing some wall chips and dirt on carpet at old house after they finished moving us out. We couldn't wait for them to repair, we had to have it done for the new owners. We turned in the repairs we had for the new house and furniture damaged that we found in the remaining time we had. It has been over 80 days and we are still waiting for them to finish settling up. Repairs were just recently finished, but any monetary compensation is not being addressed. We have written several emails, no reply. read more

This was the best experience I've had with a moving company. I will be using them again. Everyone from management to mover had a positive attitude and was happy to do extra work that came up on the job without charging extra. They packed, moved everything, and reassembled my beds in the new place. They also came when I called to remove all the boxes from my new place. Super positive attitude. I used American Moving to arrange my interstate move and the initial pick-up. I had read the online reviews and talked with the manager there several times before selecting this company. Their quote was very close to the other moving quotes I had received and decided to use them based upon being a local company and the reviews. However, the move did not go smoothly at all. The crew that arrived thought they were only picking up 2 beds and not moving a 2-bedroom apartment. There was a major lack of communication and I had to call to verify pickup of my items several times. Once they were picked up by the American Moving shuttle they were supposed to be transported to a Bekins truck to the final destination. Well a driver was never scheduled and my goods sat on the shuttle truck for several days. Once a driver did pick up my goods, I had to call the driver to find out when delivery would take place; instead of American Moving calling and notifying me. My items were delivered past the agreed upon date and were delivered by Wheaton and not Bekins. This was never communicated to me. My driver also expressed frustrations with the communication and the service of American Moving. Pros: Were on time to move my goods. The American Moving employees did a good job even though they were not expecting to move a 2-bedroom apartment. They worked efficiently and were careful with loading my items. My goods finally arrived and there was no major damage. Cons: Lack of Communication especially after they picked up my items. Charged for boxing that was never done and was supposed to be (I did get this reimbursed by the main moving company). They might be good at local moves but I would not recommend them for long distance moving. read more

The driver was nice and kept me informed. The salesperson was typical-they tell you anything to get the job. He sold me full replacement cost insurance but after I filed a claim for damage, it has taken five months and is still not resolved. After a while, you start to feel like a criminal for asking them to perform as contracted and want to give up, which is exactly what they want. The length of this resolution process leaves a negative impression and overshadows what may have been good. read more

He followed up frequently and was very friendly and personable. The move went great! Wes and Hayden were the movers and they did an absolutely fantastic job! When we contacted American Moving, we let them know we were only looking for help moving large furniture items, which is why we chose a weekday when there is only a 2 hour minimum. The movers seemed to be polite and professional, although there was some damage I'm trying to work through with the claims group. My biggest problem was the bill. First, there was some confusion as to whether they charged for driving both ways. After that was cleared up I still wasn't happy about the fact that after the work was all done, I was charged for the 15 minutes it took to get the paperwork in order plus another 30 minutes of drive time back to the office, even though it only took them 20 minutes to actually get there. I spoke to customer service but they only tried to justify the amount they charged me. Maybe an extra 1/4 hour might not seem like much but it matters to me when trying to save money, plus no one likes feeling nickeled and dimed to death. We also changed the arrival time (and our schedules) at the last minute per their request to be accommodating and they were still over an hour and a half late. read more

Hired American Moving after using another local mover for a previous move because of their proximity to our new house. I was billed for at least double the travel time that it took them. They also claimed to have started the move 30 minutes before they actually showed up to our house. The movers did NOT hussle and they took frequent smoke breaks, breaks that didn't come off the total move time billed. I brought up my concerns to management and received an almost hostile reaction and no resolution. I would definitely not recommend or use them in the future. read more
