I'm not one to review things, but I visited American Nails the other day with family for a pedicure. It seems like they are very busy and popular, however their pedicure tub was filthy (see mold/slime pic). They also use the same implements and tools on all clients with no sanitization of any kind, and keep them in a wet, enclosed tool caddy. I wouldn't say this place is very clean at all, especially not during a pandemic when extra measures are especially important. read more

I usually have a good experience at this place, but yesterday I went in for a pedicure and manicure, planning to treat myself. After my pedicure started, one of the nail techs came over and started working on my finger nails at the pedicure chair. I know they're trying to save time, but it was really distracting while I was trying to relax with a hot stone massage on my feet and legs. When I went over to the table to finish my manicure, she scraped the be Jesus out of the skin on the underside of my thumbnail, and when I told her how much it hurt, before I knew what she was doing she squirted rubbing alcohol on it. It was terrible! In addition, she didn't seem to want to be friendly, and was dead silent except to tell me to relax my hands. The drill that she used was super hot on top of my nails, and when I told her she just shrugged. Instead of using manual nail tools to push back my cuticles, she just used the drill, which hurt like hell. Additionally, she dipped my nails directly in the big container instead of pouring some into a small container so god only knows how many other nails had been in that jar. The ends of my nails are uneven, and some have sharp edges I have to file myself. I know these are first world problems but when you pay a lot for an experience you expect good results. i hated this! i used to go here allll the time and i went yesterday to get a full set done and she completely RUINED my nails and my cuticles. she filed my skin. made me bleed. and then got mad when i confronted her and asked for my money back. i literally had to fix and repaint her mess when i got home. i've never been more disappointed! i've taken so many of my friends here and my family too. she was rude and kept pulling my arm hard. she even tried to make me pay $10 to remove the nails she put on. all i wanted was my money back i paid $55 dollars for this. read more

I received a manicure and pedicure from here and was really grossed out with what I saw. I watched one of the employees wax a girls eyebrows and she would dip the stick into the wax, put it on the customers face, and then dip the same exact stick back into the wax. Multiple times. If they're doing this every time who knows how much bacteria is being transferred from peoples face, armpits, bikini area, etc back into the wax which then gets put on other people since they don't switch sticks out before dipping back into the pot. I also asked to have my nails filed square and most of them are rounded and some are extremely uneven. The nail tech also didn't take off all my gel polish and I didn't notice until after that she just painted over it making the gel extremely bumpy. However I got white tip shellac for my manicure and they must use very cheap product because it hasn't even been a week and my nails chipped and the white is more of a faded pink color. The end result was okay...but getting there ticked me off. Drill speed was to high and she kept burning me and hitting my cuticle. Ouch...no gentleness here at all. More worried about getting it done as fast as possible. Nail side of salon, not very clean according to my standards. Worst place I've ever gotten my toe nails done. They cut my toe nails so short there was nothing left. The design I wanted was nothing like I showed her. And to go along with that, she charged me 3 dollars more for getting nail polish removed when I only had it on 2 toes, and she didn't even remove all of the polish. she didn't talk to me at all and I got the worst customer service ever. Not sure where any of the negative reviews come from... they never rush and they always do a great job. I can count on one hand the tiny issues I've had here- maybe a design that wasn't EXACTLY what i wanted or someone not doing my dip powder the exact same... at the end of every time I have been satisfied. They fix their mistakes every time and are super friendly- if you aren't happy with something let them know, don't gripe about it on Yelp and drag a good salon through the mud. read more

My card was charged twice. When I called to advise them of the issue they indicated I would have to talk to a Manager that was not available. I said why did this happen and the young lady said because our machine gives us an error message the first time we run it so then we run it a second time. I responded by stating you should advise customers of this when it happens, she then proceeded to say but we didn't know it happened. I said well you just told me that your machine does this and you know when it happens what to do and why it happened, so you had to know at the time it happened. read more

I don't know how this place was voted best nail salon in Lincoln.... Went there for an appointment for a bridal party. She cut my cuticles and made me bleed twice, didn't bother to ask me if I wanted my nails flattened or wanted to keep them round (the answer is latter and she did the first one). They barely spent time on my pedicure, they seemed so rushed to leave. I did not get shellac because I despise shellac, less than 24 hours later and my nails were already chipping, they didn't even make it to the wedding, I had to retouch them myself because I didn't have time to go back, nor did I want to. Waste of time and money. I will not ever be going back and I will continue at the nail salon I regularly go to. read more
