The piercer, a white woman with black hair, was unfriendly and came across as snarky and rude from the very beginning. Instead of taking my friend to a private area, she had her lift up her shirt in the lobby. She then had her sit on the couch, looked her up and down, shook her head, and told her she was "too fat" for a belly button piercing and that she didn't have the right anatomy. Whether or not someone is a candidate for a piercing, there is a respectful and professional way to communicate that. The way she spoke to my friend was humiliating and unnecessarily hurtful. My friend already struggles with body image, and hearing those comments from another woman left her feeling embarrassed and ashamed. Watching someone treat another person that way was upsetting. After leaving, we went to another piercing shop, where the piercer evaluated her professionally and completed the piercing without any issues. We were also told that the interaction we experienced at True Art Tattoo was handled in a very unprofessional manner. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend True Art Tattoo. We encountered rudeness, body shaming, and a complete lack of compassion and professionalism. No customer should leave feeling belittled over their body.

I'd be lying if it wasn't the first time I've encountered a person who treated someone who is not as alt presenting differently. BUT my knowledge of jewelry and brands, placements and piercing upkeep is thorough and the reason I bothered driving 45 mins to this studio. Upon making my appointment I picked out Kelly, who JUST so happened to work that weekend. They were AHMAZING, sweet, professional, and made you feel good. And for me, it was good enough to keep coming back. They introduced me to Ezra, the studio manager, for a custom order placement and that interaction continued to make up for the initial not so great check in. Dan (Hatcher) is undependable, slow, cuts appointment times short and continuously cancels appointments. Spoke with Dan about doing a full sleeve in Sept 2023 and started this sleeve in Sept 2023. He wanted paid up front for the entire sleeve. which I did do. Appointments were scheduled one week at a time and were supposed to be for 2 hours. The appointments were always shortened to between an hour or an hour and a half, which would includes 2 to 3 breaks. On two occasions, my appointment was paused so that someone else could be taken care of, and then the appointment would still end early. There was a 50/50 chance the appointment was valid or not. I had a total of 8 canceled appointments. Then, on top of that, he paused appointments, causing an additional 2 month delay. Dan has to be the most undependable person I have ever done business with. As for the tattoo... slowest tattoo person I've ever interacted with. I had 4 appointments for something that could have taken someone else a couple hrs or just one session. This part of my sleeve still isn't finished, along with 4 other items that were started and not finished. I finally had to walk away with an unfinished sleeve that I paid in full for because of yet another canceled appointment spanning across 7 months (making 9 cancelations)... Not even 50% of the sleeve is complete after 11 appointments. After indicating that I can no longer do this anymore because of the canceled appointments, I was never offered any sort of refund for unfinished work. Now I'm left with less than half of a completed sleeve and have to go to someone else to fix/finish. Save yourself the headache and your money by going elsewhere.
