Having gas sucks, whether you're American or not. Buying petrol on the other hand, is vital, and you can do that here, up in the North burbs of Boston. Pretty average priced gas station located in Beverly which is a suburb North of Boston. Sometimes it can be a little expensive compared to some of the ones in other less expensive burbs such as the ones out west. Having said that, it's cheaper than some of the stations, such as in Salem, and I filled up here once and got a little bit of gas another time. read more

Stay away!!!!! Because I've had issues with there billing in the past (over 100% mark-up and performing unessary work) i was very specific this time. "REPLACE # 4 COIL PACK ONLY" Well they did it again. They unessarly replaced 4 spark plugs to the tune of $161.37 parts, labor and tax. They just replaced them (un authorized) 5000 miles ago. These are self cleaning uriduim plug and are good for 100,000 miles+. So this time I called to complain, explained he just replaced plugs ect. He started yelling and hung up. AVOID. Desperate for an inspection sticker, I went here because it was the only place open on a Saturday afternoon. He failed me for my brakes--it was not the failing that bothered me, but the fact that he tried to get my business out of it, which was just ... no. Not happening. I had the brakes repaired elsewhere and passed re-inspection. Cut to a year later, a well-meaning third party brought my car back to this clown, and he failed me again for the brakes -- brakes that were less than a year old, on a car that is rarely driven. Beware, went in for a simple car inspection and left with a damaged car. I take excellent care of my car and expect people who service it to do the same. I walked around the car as it came back to see a 2-3 inch scratch on my black car. I immediately went in to show the manager owner. It was very clear someone rubbed against the car with a sharp object. Accidents happen however the owner took no responsibility even refused to provide his name. I called Beverly Police who had him provide his name. Steer clear of this place if you value your car! read more

I know some of the guys that work here because they used to work at my old mechanic's shop. They do a great job. I came in for an oil change and they were quick, professional, capable, and friendly. It's a small garage, I believe only two bays, so I'm sure there's a bit of a wait if you come at a peak time. Gotta be prepared for that. I have also had my car inspected here with 0 issues. In town at mom's house from NC. My 14 year old Volvo went electric system crazy on Sunday within blocks of the station. I called my sister, a local, and she advised another station, but she indicated friends had had good service at a AP. Monday at 2:30 my old XC90 was ready to go. They said my 14 year old battery was still ok so not to bother with a new one yet. I had an alternator installed in NC by a favorite local garage who also said not to replace my battery. ( Thankfully I didn't all Triple A batteries are us service.) The NC service was $300 the Mass service was $706. Volvo would have been over $1000. My NC parts were $192. My Mass. parts were $399. Anyone who doesn't try to sell me a battery, although I can't understand why mine is still working (Must be fiord water in the cells) is an honest mechanic. I looked and couldn't find an alternator for what my NC folks charged me. $400 was the best retail. AP and Jose were great. Vote to keep folks like this in business. read more

I think this is my first Yelp review. I have to say that this is the worst experience I have ever had at any gas station EVER. I went for a state inspection 2 years ago, and he was on his phone the entire time and I couldn't figure out when he was talking to me or the person on his bluetooth. It was incredibly disrespectful. It was clearly a personal conversation. Also forced me to buy their windshield wipers, and the price was not a fair one. Avoid this place!!! read more

I'm only giving one star because I have to.. On 6/17 I went to American Petroleum for service on my car( break work), when I went to pay he ran my card and told me it was declined. I was shocked as it shouldn't have been declined- so I immediately check my bank account. My bank account was showing the transaction had gone through, I called my bank they confirmed that the transaction had gone through and the money was going to American Petroleum. The customer service rep from my bank also spoke with the owner and explained the funds had come out and were going to him. He still stayed that the transaction declined.. So Saturday 6/18 rolls around and I try to back my car out of my driveway and I am unable to do so without pushing the gas completely down to the ground- car is shaking and won't go over 30mph when I start driving.. So I call and speak with Danny, he says bring it down we'll look at it.. When I get there he asks me for the money again. I explain, like my bank did the previous day that the funds were going to him. He asks that I call the bank again, so I do- they tell him the same thing again the funds have been taken out of my account and are going to American Petroleum. He then calls his processing company and speaks with someone (he had them on speaker phone) I hear them say that the transaction went through. So we agree that I'm all set and I leave. Monday 6/20 comes and he is calling me and texting me telling me I need to give him a check because he hasn't been paid. I provide him with the letter from the bank stating the funds were taken out of my account and were going to American Petroleum. He tells me this is valid and I don't want to pay for my services (which is far from the truth). He continues to harass me about giving him money because he wasn't paid. He then has his card processor call me. I then go into the bank on Tuesday 6/21 and explain to them what has been happening. They give me more proof that the transaction went through and was going to American Petroleum... I provide the card processing company with the proof from the bank, they speak to the bank- I at this point have done everything in my power to prove to them that the funds were taken out of my account and being sent to American Petroleum. Now I'm thinking its settled at this point, I have provided all that I can, the funds have left my account etc. Thursday 6/30 I check my bank account and there is a second transaction for the services being taken out of my account..I had cancelled my debit card that I had used at the American Petroleum on 6/17 to air on the side of caution.. now this is where it gets even more ridiculous... the card processing company used the prior authorization to re run my card that had been cancelled (now the bank is at fault a bit for letting the transaction go through b/c the card was "hot carded" however his processing company used a very sketchy way to get the card re run..) I have gone back to the bank and they are taking care of this for me... Just beware of the sketchiness that may occur.. I would hate for someone to have to go through what I went through.. read more

Inspection Scam Artists. I just got my truck out of a dealers shop. (been going there for over 20 years) During my inspection at American Petroleum, the mechanic told me I failed needing ball joints. (An old trick to get a job out of you) I explained to them how I didn't agree and verbally told them this is B%$ SH*& I then had them show me the suspected ball joint failure. They did not show any wear and my dealer mechanic (who I called) told me "I checked them yesterday and they look fine" American Petroleum in Beverly will never see my business again. Absolutely awful!!!! Had my brakes done and was convinced to buy 2 new tires for my immediate safety". They took the two better tires and the brakes were FAR worse than when I brought the car in!!! The car made a horrible racket whenever I drove after they "Fixed" the car. When I brought the car back the next day to ask about the noise and to take possession of the two good tires they removed, they said they couldn't find the tires and the car was "fine" and had the nerve to CHARGE ME another $50 for labor!!!'I brought it to a REPUTABLE mechanic later that week and it cost me $800 to fix what AMERICAN PETROLEUM did to my car!!! I was looking up the phone number and saw all the bad reviews. The stations has undergone renovations and is under new management. I have had nothing but good experiences there. The new manager Paul is well known in the area as an honest reputable mechanic. My family has 4 vehicles and we have never had a problem dealing with Paul. read more

I was looking for a used car and actually, I got a great deal! Danny was really helpful and and the car is great! He also made sure to tell that he stands by all the cars he sells and if there is anything wrong to bring it back because he wants all his customers to trust him and believe in his service.
