I stopped in here on a whim to get an inspection sticker. I am shocked at how smoothly this place runs and how clean - literally spotless - the garage bays are and the waiting area is. I've never been here before, but the number of people pulling in for gas was great to see. Literally took 15 minutes to get the inspection sticker! I wouldn't hesitate to come here for anything. I've been going here (or was- am NOT anymore) for 8 years to get everything from gas to inspection stickers and just recently new tires and brakes. The previous owners were amazing, but this new crew has become dishonest and ripped me off $1700. I've been back FIVE TIMES to try to get them to fix what they charged me for and my car STILL isn't working right!!! So upsetting!!!! Disputing the transaction with my cc company now since these guys CLEARLY do not intend to do/fix what they charged me for!!! read more

Very shady!! A while back my wife went here to get gas. They tried to sell her new tires. We took the car to our trusted mechanic. He took a look and confirmEd the tires were fine. Today, my daughter went in to get gas. She asked for $15 of regular. They "made a mistake" and left the pump running. They charged her card $36. When she confronted them, they said "it was a mistake" and refused to do anything. I 've been there once or twice without issue. They seem to think they can manipulate women. Real sleazy. I went to this gas station this morning. It's very close to home and I've been coming here on and off for gas for 18 years. These past two years have been the worst. This morning I asked for $40 regular, they FILLED it and charged me $56 dollars on my debit card. My husband has been telling me a few time they have done this to him, once he held a $10 in cash and said just $10 regular! Again the younger man FILLED it and was trying to get him to pay the difference on his credit card. My husband is a big guy so once he raised his voice and continued to tell him he wasn't paying since it's not what he asked for, waving the $10 in his face, the older man, manager I believe , took it and sent him on his way. I haven't had this problem with the older man who is always smiling, but the young man is a crook! Don't get ripped off!! read more

I went to get gas yesterday July 15th, when I pulled up there was no customers. I pulled in and the man came out yelling on the phone. I told him what I wanted he started it I thought and walked away telling still on the phone . I had to get out bc the pump said more then I told him. Come to find out he didn't even start it bc he was on the phone. I told him but he continued to yell on the phone and was so RUDE & UNPROFESSIONAL. I will never go back there. I am extremely disappointed to have to write this review. I have been going to this gas station every week for five years. When I moved to Lynnfield, I continued to drive to Wakefield just for gas. Today I drove up to a pump and rolled down my window about 4 inches. I handed the man my card and requested he fill it regular. Before he handed back my card he demanded that I roll my window down all the way. My car was off so I had to open the door. He proceeded to ask me if I was cold & before I could answer he yelled "I'm cold too too. Next time roll the window down all the way or pump it yourself." read more

I took my car here to get it inspected. It failed on emissions, and I paid the $29 fee, being told that next time that I came I could get the car re-inspected for free. Well, wouldn't you know it that next time I showed up after my car had been fix, a different mechanic demanded that I pay an additional fee. I told him that his co-worker (who was there, but refuse to chime in) had guaranteed me a free subsequent inspection (a right guaranteed to all MA car-owners), but he simply refused. Don't get any car work done here, they will screw you out of money and treat you like dirt. UPDATE: Without getting any additional work done to the car, I took it to a different inspections place closer to my home. It passed. So add shoddy equipment to the list of problems with this place. read more

Love the fact they offer the best gas prices in the area and pump gas for you and don't jack up the price for credit card payments. The staff has always been super nice. I agree with the reviewers here. The staff at Wakefield gas is extremely unprofessional, shady, and above all, lack any sort of common sense on how to treat their customers. About two weeks ago, I had made the mistake of going here for an oil change while they were semi-busy. I asked one of the staff members if he can do an oil change today, and he had the disrespect to tell me in a overtly rude manner "why can't you do it yourself?". Are you kidding me??? Having a staff member write a five star review will not help balance the impact you had left on customers. I used to consistently go to this gas station years before it came under new management, and I had absolutely no problems. I had nothing but great experiences and was treated with courtesy. I'm waiting for the day when a new manager will come and cleanse this place of its disastrous staff. read more

I agree on the previous poster regarding the new ownership of Wakefield Gas. I fill up weekly there (full serve because, let's face it, I'm a princess.) The owner (I think?) is *always* super nice and pleasant. Poor guy is freezing out there while I sit in my toasty car and he always has a smile on his face. Very inexpensive gas, great service. I was extremely disappointed by the service here this morning. I called yesterday to ask what time state inspections start in the morning to which I was told 8AM on Saturday's. I arrived at 8:38AM this morning and asked for an inspection. The employee present told me the mechanic who does the inspection wouldn't be in until 9AM but that I would be first in line. 9AM came and went and now there were 3 others folks in line behind me. Around 9:30 the original employee i spoke to came over and told me "Mike will be here soon, I don't know what happened, he must have an errand to run because I talked to him at 8AM". I waited around until 10AM and still no sign of Mike. I decided to leave my car and Uber home, when I let the employee know, he assured me to call in an hour and my car would be ready. I called and hour later and surprise, surprise, still no inspection "because the machine was down" it makes me wonder if it's Mike who still wasn't in. I was able to retrieve my car at 4pm, 7.5 hours later. NEVER AGAIN! A discount or covering the bill would have gone a long way and I certainly wouldn't have written this review. read more

My car overheated on the highway this March, and I no idea where to go. Someone told me to go to this place, which was down the road, off the highway, on my way to work. So I nervously went there, having no idea what to expect. I had snapped a plastic piece down by the radiator, and it was going to be tough to get in there. 1) I had arrived at 8:30 AM, and even though I did not have an appointment, they fixed it that day! 2) They came in almost $100.00 UNDER the estimate. 3). Mohammed (owner? Mgr?) actually took time to drive me to work in Beverly (from his shop in Wakefield). It was in a big truck, so I am guessing he used a bunch of gas to get me there - that was very nice of him! 4) HONEST folks! Because they are also a gas station, I was able to pick my car up late, after work, as the gas part of this station is open late. I went inside, paid the bill (which was almost $100.00 under estimate), and walked outside to get my car. I climbed in, and heard a knock on the window = I had left my backpack inside the gas station, and the nice fellow was there to give it back to me. Excellent folks for sure! So yes, I DO recommend this place - they did me right with great service (it has been 2 months since they did it, and it has held up fine!), with honest and nice folks. Give them a try! read more

My boyfriend and I often come here for gas because of the convenience of it being down the street. Several times this past month we've drove in and no one came to the car. The guy inside sat behind the counter staring at us. We would wait a couple minutes and then go elsewhere. Today, they decided that they were going to pump our gas. A tall older man with glasses who we've encountered before (who's not the friendliest) did it. After he was done, he told us "this gas station is full service not free service" and demanded a tip. He was holding my boyfriends card in his hand while he was doing this. After we told him we don't have cash. He just stared at us while still holding the card in close to him so we couldn't reach it. Eventually he decided to give the card back. I believe to earn a tip you should provide good service and we have never received that here. This man demanded a tip in return for our credit card. Mike the owner is very accommodating and has made sure my vehicle was serviced even if I called that day with an issue or just something minor as an oil change. He completely remodeled initially, and recently modernized and upgraded pump and canopy area. I live around the corner so it's convenient to get car serviced. Gas prices are the lowest in town. Guaranteed. There are always helpful and cordial staff members to assist with even the smallest needs or questions. Service has been consistently good and prices very reasonable. Mike will match or beat competitor's pricing. And he is always appreciative and grateful for the business that patrons bring. Wakefield Gas is supportive in the Wakefield community, sponsoring sports teams and getting involved in various fundraising efforts. You will hardly ever get a negative response when asking for a donation for a worthwhile cause. Mike prides himself in his business and has a "what goes around, comes around" mentality. The staff isn't always so friendly. But the gas is relatively cheap and the mechanics always make time for you. The manager comes off as rude but he's not a bad guy. With a hole in my oil filter and the oil filter being stuck on my truck, I had it towed to them with very short notice and he changed the oil filter for 20$ right then and there. Was he unfriendly? Yes, sort of. Did he drop what he was doing to change my oil filter for me? Yes. They usually pass stickers too. If it's close to you, might as well go here. If not, I wouldn't go out of the way for it. read more

I was very surprised to see how low the rating to this gas station is that I had to make a rating. I have been going to this gas station for the past 10 months and every time I'm greeted earnestly. The price is always competitive compared to other gas stations in town, usually cheapest. They also repair your vehicles at a reasonable price and you can trust it was done correctly.The new owner is very friendly and honest. I've seen him give little juice boxes to kids that come in with their parents waiting for an inspection sticker. This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. The NEW owner and his staff are extremely rude. I have been a frequent customer for 3 years, but that came to an end yesterday, when they charged me for gas they never put in my car and refused to acknowledge their mistake. The owner and his staff spoke about me in third person in Turkish as I was standing right there. Very disrespectful and unprofessional.I put gas 3 times within 1 hour. The first time they put $30 worth of gas, (full service), i left and noticed after awhile that my gas meter never went up. I went back and showed they guy how my meter was still on empty, and he said thats weird. I told him to give me another $30 worth of gas and this time my gas meter went up. I left,suspecting that the first time he never put any gas in my car, so i decide to go back a third time and see if i was able to put more gas, which at this point i wouldn't be able to do so IF he put gas in my car the first time, as a full tank = approx. $60. I went back and was able to put another $29 dollars worth of gas. A total of $90.You told me my car hold 21 gallons. 21gallonsx$3,49 equals $73. You do the math, You tell me how I was able to put 90 dollars worth of gas, when according to your information my car only holds 21 gallons which again equals just $73.? That is impossible. Your staff also witnessed how my gas meter never went up after the first time, but did the second time he put gas. If my meter was broken it wouldn't have moved the second time. You are rude and disrespectful and very unprofessional!! And on top of that you tell me in front of other customers that i am not welcome back. You made a mistake and tried to get away with it, thinking I am a girl that probably has no knowledge about cars...WRONG!!! Very stupid and unprofessional. I will never come back and so will none of my friends and family. You lost not only me but a lot of other people because of how you handle business. read more

Owner is a crook! He also owns Beverly Gas & Tire and ruined my vehicle by installing the timing belt inappropriately. Did major damaged to the vehicle and we had to buy a new vehicle. He agreed to compensate us by buying the vehicle from us and we never heard from him again. We filed in small claims court and he never showed. DO NOT LET HIM TOUCH YOUR VEHICLE!!!! read more
