It is even better than we imagined and we couldn't be happier with the final product! Don and Trevor were both easy to work with and coordinated everything, including all the subcontractors. This made our project run exceptionally smooth. Don's knowledge and experience was evident during our first meeting. He was much more knowledgeable about pools than the other contractors we had met. We were sold on Pool Doctor on the spot! Don also recommended a contractor who installed a 70 feet retaining wall, concrete, artificial turf, and an outdoor kitchen . If you are having a pool installed or having any pool work done, be sure to reach out to the Pool Doctor.

If you want a pebble tec product there are only two authorized installers and this company uses Sol Pacific. I liked that Don's quote was fairly priced and he didn't try to push anything I didn't need. The quote I got from Gardner was almost double and included a lot of unnecessary work. The crew mistakenly installed expired mastic around the edge of my pool and Trevor owned it and replaced it without me asking which I really appreciated. Overall I was not blown away with Don's customer service. In the planning process I was referred to one single website to pick the tile. I didn't particularly like any of their options and asked if there was another company they could refer me to and got something like "not really they all went out of business". Within 15 minutes of searching I found another pool tile company. I asked if he had heard of it and he said he could get those tiles as well. I was told all the samples would be brought before I left on vacation, but Don delivered the last sample after I left so I had pick my tile based on texted pictures so as to not hold up the project. Trevor went and purchased tile grout without asking me my color preference which I found very bizarre. They were willing to exchange it. I never got any materials showing the different pebble sheen colors so I picked my color from a brochure provided by another company. Trevor asked for the final payment the morning my finish was going in. I said the works not done yet. They said ok then just mail it. I said "aren't you going to come inspect the final product?" and got back we don't have problems with Sol Pacific. Ok great, but then why hire you if they are checking their own work and how about that mistake with the expired mastic that happened just last week? They did come back after I asked, but I was disappointed I had to ask. If you pay for their start up they would naturally come back, but I prefer my pool man to own the water and felt penalized for that.

We researched a bunch of different pool companies and asked for quotes and we went with La Costa Custom Pools. The scope of work included remodeling our waterfall feature, installing a new water slide, upgrading the pool control box, adding a salt cell system, replacing all pool lights, repairing cracks and chipped concrete, and repainting the trim around both the pool and spa. From start to finish, the craftsmanship and attention to detail were outstanding. Communication throughout the project was exceptional. We were consistently kept informed about timelines, next steps, and any adjustments. On the rare occasions when work had to pause due to rain, we received clear notice in advance. We never had to guess what was happening or when crews would arrive. Cory managed the project closely and made sure everything stayed on track. He brought in Bob, a master pool structure builder from Great X-Scapes, and along with Peri, they built an incredible waterfall and water slide that not only look amazing but are clearly built to last for years. As with any remodel, a few minor issues surfaced after completion. The trim paint began to chip due to a product issue, and there was a significant leak from an old pipe nipple in the existing pool setup. In both cases, Cory and Bill responded immediately. The entire trim was redone without hesitation, and the leak was repaired quickly and properly. That level of accountability and follow through speaks volumes. The project was originally quoted at around two months, and they completed it in just over one month without sacrificing quality. We couldn't be happier with the final result and would confidently recommend La Costa Custom Pools to anyone looking for professional, high quality pool work!

The crew were fast and efficient, very respectful of my yard and plants. They were finished in three days. I was so impressed that my pool looked brand new. They cleaned up everything you would never know they were even there. Cory was always around asking if I needed anything, checking on the crew and letting me know what was happening. I enjoyed working with Cory because he kept me informed through the whole process and afterwards called to see if I needed anything else. That is first class service!

Our old steps were flagstone, built in 1949, and over time were dissolving. Gary met with us at our home, and at rock and block yards, to find what we were after. We actually came up with an AI example and ran with it. At first I tried to be cheap (a can do fireman) and said I would do the demo myself. I quickly learned that the job was way beyond what I could handle. Gary's team brought in a small excavator and pulled out crazy amounts of stone and cement. Gary stopped by almost every morning, many times in the afternoons and answered my calls when things looked off to me (usually as they were not completed yet). In the end I had a small "punch list" of items I wanted to have "touched up" and Gary's team was more than accommodating. As with any contacting work, it is on the home owner to point out the issues you see and would like changed/touched up. I was pleased that Gary listened and had his team address our concerns. We get compliments for our new walkway and steps. Great job Gary and San Diego Outdoor Living Company. He said we needed a new heater so that was ordered. But he would need to come back out and install and fix once the spa was empty. We emptied spa and then He then came back out and charged another $150 his hourly rate (which he will charge even for 20 minute visit) but realized that he had misdiagnosed the problem as there was nothing wrong with our heater and even though spa was empty he decided to just change out one plastic gasket which he assumed was now the culprit for the leak. So at this point we have spent $300 in his time and $6 in parts. I asked if he would honor his work and make sure that the leak was fixed and he said that the problem should be fixed. But when we filled up the spa the leak was still there. I requested that he come back out and please fix the leak but he said he would need another $150 to come out and diagnose it again. I said that was not fair as we had already paid for his time and expertise and diagnosis (a total of $306) but our hot tub was still leaking. He then said we were "lucky"that he didn't charge us for and install the heater ( the one he ordered when he misdiagnosed the leak) which would have been another $285. That's not lucky that is common decency. If you need your spa fixed by an honest and integral person unfortunately Dan Spa and Repair is NOT the person for you. He will not honor his word or his work. He will take your money and misdiagnose and potentially charge you for parts you don't need.
