Mike, the owner, kept us informed of delays, and updated us on the estimated start and completion dates during the various stages. We continued to receive progress reports during the entire project. Perhaps one of the things that I most admired about Mike is that he stood by his work. During the removal of the old surfaces, a couple of PVC parts from the attached jacuzzi were broken. Mike accepted responsibility for the damage, and promised to repair/replace them. The pool was built in the '70s, and some items are no longer available. Mike unsuccessfully continued to search for the replacements, even out of state. Finally, he located someone locally who would fabricate the parts. He knew our pool was built in 1961 so the plumbing and electrical was old and they would have to reroute everything, but he didn't mention it. He knew the light was leaking and they would have to replace the housing, wiring and grounding but it wasn't included in our bid. It wasn't until contracts were signed and demolition had begun that he brought up those topics. Of course, every single thing was an ad on! We didn't realize that plumbing & electrical wasn't part of the original bid. Obviously you need those things to run a pool... Watch out! The price they quote you is no where near what it's going to actually cost! In the end, our pool turned out beautiful but I thought these guys were unprofessional.

Everything started amazing excavation was done in 2.5 days and they were able to work on a small space. Our issues happened when new subcontractors switched around. The scheduler Lulu dropped the ball on every step possible. The shotcrete people drained the cement mixer rubble on the HOA storm drains. They were suppose to dump chemical water onto the sewer pipes but dumped it in storm drain instead. Our first Flagstone/Tile guy did nothing for 3 weeks and that delayed the project. The new Tile/ flagstone guy did ok work but he buried 1200 lbs of cement and rocks debris in my planter boxes which I had to dig out. They almost forgot to install overflow connection until I pointed it out. The overflow connection was poorly done and takes forever to drain. The pebbletec vendor cut pipe from our auto filler and sprayed over it. it took over a week to locate filler and drain hole and they had to drill leavingcrap load of debris and having to drain 2000 gallons of water. The final inspection took 1 year to complete due to vendor not scheduling. There are a few finishing touches that were missed. Over all I am happy with my pool but I feel like I did a lot of over sight that the general contractor should have done. There should have been someone that visited the site on a weekly period. You have to be vocal and look over the subcontractors shoulders. Sadly they are just doing this for dollar and sometimes very little thought process. My control panel is free standing almost in the middle of our deck I am not sure why I was not consulted where I would like the panel, I would have gladly had it mounted to the house outside wall like a circuit breaker panel. Like I said I am mostly very happy but that was because I had to take matters into my hands.

We had two weekly visits assigned per our contract along with many of the standard items such as vacuum, skim and scrub the walls. They would check chemicals and that's about it. Management is absent and the techs do whatever they want, which is nothing much. Our pool was always filthy, had been shut down a few times by the city and their price gouging on repairs were astronomical. Organization and standard cleanliness is not part of their program as they had literally used our poolroom as a dumpster and staging place for old parts and trash. The best part of Padre was getting rid of them. I highly recommend looking for another pool service or terminating them if you currently use them, as if you try and even work with them on contract related requirements, they literally refuse to comprehend customer service and quality of work.

Their bid was in the middle -- very fair price for high quality work. When we signed the contract, they stated the project (complete pool renovation - surface, waterline tile and coping reset) would take about four (4) to five (4) weeks. They completed the work in two (2) weeks. During the process, they clearly communicated day of service, time, their intentions and scope of work. We were very impressed in how they conduct their business. Rudy at Payan performed a repair today. The water had been previously shutoff, and after the repair he turned the water on. It created a "rushing" water noise unrelated to the repair. He contacted me and about the unrelated issue and resolved it.

They came out and sanded around my skimmer lid as well as removed and reinstalled all of the loose tile on my spillway between the spa and pool. I am glad that in the end they made right what they could. I will also say that they offered to have their team come work on the pavers to improve the uneven cuts the other contractor left. While I am frustrated that they recommended a contractor that wasn't good, the poor quality of that work is not theirs to own. I thank them for the things they did fix, I just wish it didn't have to hinge around a yelp review.
