It is tough to review this location of a Non-profit Organization that is under constant rumors of shutting down or moving THIS location. The property costs will force something to happen at some point, I'm guessing. With that out front, this location manages to do the important task of training people and providing relief services. The facility is old, showing signs of wear and not enough volunteer and paid resources to make it look new and shiney. It still performs and hosts quite a few activities. I've had my CPR and First Aid courses here. In a pinch, this location could still provide support for something large. read more

On Tuesday, June 30th I drove out to the blood drive in Frisco. I try to donate blood as often as I can because I realize the importance of this life saving process. I arrived for my appointment time, checked in via rapid pass and then with the check in table. After being called to have my iron tested etc. I sat for several minutes watching people that came in after me being called to a bed to start their donations until a worker realized I was still waiting. Once I was on the table and donation started the alarm went off for several minutes and I finally got a workers attention and he came over and said he'd be right back.. then after several more minutes ..watching him check some machine and wipe down a table he walked over and said he'd have to adjust my needle.. 3 workers later, they had my donation going again.. alarm goes off for several minutes again before they come over (not sure if they can hear alarms over the loud music) original guy comes over and takes needle out etc and I immediately start feeling my fingers and toes throbbing and just feeling weird in general (which isn't normal for me) so they put a wet paper towel on my head, lay the bed back and then just left me there for a long time.. I sat up when I started feeling better.. still no one came over.. so I left. Once home, I sent an internal email via the Red Cross website about my concerns. Today is Saturday, July 4th and I haven't heard anything back from the Red Cross- nothing. Although I'm sure once it's time for me to donate again, I'll be getting texts, calls, mail, and emails requesting me to make a donation. Typically when I donate, I don't have even a small bruise.The bruising on my arm this time is AWFUL. It will probably be awhile before I decide to donate my O+ blood again because this was so traumatizing, but if I do, I will probably contact Carter BloodCare because it's obvious to me Red Cross just wants my blood and doesn't care about me. Poor management in evidence throughout from failing and uncoordinated appointment booking app to persistent lateness in keeping appointments and staff apparently not trained to see donors as valued. Egregious. Especially in light of aggressive email and text campaign to recruit donors and remind of appointments. Physician, heal thyself. read more

Red Cross volunteers should not be subjected to ageism or racism by full-time Red Cross employees. Allegations should be looked into and not ignored. If the allegations are simply a misunderstanding, then that should be said; however, when allegations are ignored, it appears that there is at lease a kernel of truth in the accusations. read more

I'm a regular blood donor, but it seems more often than not that giving is becoming a burden. Having to wait for a very slow administrative process, and especially if you have an appointment later in the afternoon, you are subject to being cancelled (staff can opt to end the day early). What vehicle the staff chooses to use and a shortage of supplies resulting in being turned away (even with an appointment) makes giving more trouble than it should be. Combined now with all the stories of mismanagement of funds makes me question giving. Very disappointing.... read more

I'm sorry to read that people have had bad experiences at blood donations. Even though the blood drive is completely run by volunteers burdened with the kind of data collection required of any public service, no one should find themselves in a dangerous situation! I'm so sorry that happened. Thankfully, my experiences have been better. First aid and CPR training have been wonderful. I feel like I could really help in an emergency. I know the shelter evacuees during Hurricane Harvey we're almost exclusively helped by the Red Cross. And even victims of small local emergencies are helped. Recently, my friend in Parkland, Florida, told me the Red Cross even provided comfort items to the people at the school shooting. I wish I could help so many of the people they help, so until I can, I'll still donate. read more

When I try to contact them about the classes that I need to take I was told that they had been cancel and I was charge a late fee of 100%.
