    Donation complete - September 2021
    Heather S.

Ever since my Mom needed multiple blood transfusions while undergoing cancer treatment, I promised myself I would pay it forward. Since April 2021, I've been committed to being an ongoing blood donor (every 56 days or so). It also became a good way for me to 'give back' to our community. I was here to donate in April 2021 and everyone working was nice, welcoming, and friendly. They took extra precautions to ensure I felt safe and looked after while donating. Although I donate closer to my house (Red Cross visits the Centennial Hills Library) on a regular basis, one can easily sign up for a donation through the app and complete their rapid pass to expedite the process once you become a regular donor. Across the country, they are still experiencing a pretty severe blood shortage. Per the Red Cross website, the low blood supply levels "have forced some hospitals to defer patients from major surgery, including organ transplants." Since blood can't be made or manufactured, patients literally depend on blood donors for their lives. Thus, I think it's important for those to know more about the blood donation process. Blood is essential to help a variety patients survive surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. In fact, one blood donation could help up to THREE patients! That's a huge impact! If you've considered donating, now more than ever is a great time to do it. It's a phenomenal way to give back without having to pull from personal financial sources. Hot Tips: You must wait at least eight weeks (56 days) between donations of whole blood. You want to drink A LOT of water the day you donate. A good portion of the blood donated is made up of water, so be sure to drink water before and after donating. Visit the Red Cross website to learn about more tips and information on your own personal eligibility to donate.

I recently took my BLS, ACLS & PALS with this facility. My friend recommended them to me and they…read moregive the best rate compared to most places in the Valley. So if you schedule your ACLS & PALS with them at the same time, you get your BLS for free which I think is an amazing deal! They also provide you with the latest books if you don't have them. Our instructor for our PALS class was Michael and he did such an amazing job simplifying everything and making a very long class interesting and easy to remember. He was also very approachable and made use of our time wisely! Kids are not my strong suit but he made me want to work with kids after the class was over. Haha. I retained more information taking this class over any other PALS class I've done in the past. Highly recommend taking his class! On the contrary, our instructor for our ACLS class was all over the place. I don't remember her name but she was a total opposite of Michael. It just felt so disorganized and confusing at times. I still understood everything bc I've taken ACLS a handful of times prior but I can tell that those who were taking it for the first time all looked lost and confused.
