We don't use the room a lot so it wasn't too bad. But then we were having guest and they would be sleeping in there on an air mattress so we wanted the carpet cleaned. Most people don't call about one room. And everyone was quoting me well over 100$. The only place that wasn't was a big chain cleaner with a groupon. And even so most kept saying they would have to see and smell it before giving a final price. I saw an add for Turbo steam on the fence of a body yard and decided I'd give him a call. I explained the problem and he gave me a fair price with a very small window a variance. So I booked. He came and was quick, thorough and got the carpet super clean. He used a special enzyme for the cat pee. And when we moved the filing cabinets there was rust stains from us trying to clean around them. I thought he was going to charge more. Nope! He said nothing just went and got his special rust cleaner and cleaned it up. When he was leaving he even noticed a coffee stain on my entry way tile and gave it a quick scrub for funzzies. This is we're it gets good. Before he left he sprayed a little extra enzyme. As the days pasted the strong smell lingered and I got very worried. I called him and asked if he could come back again and shampoo the carpet to get more of the enzyme out because I procrastinated and had him come less then a week before the company arrived and I didn't have time to let the smell dissipate on its own. He came back without hesitation and charged nothing. And all this was 2 weeks before Christmas. The only criticism I can give is he isn't very chatty. People don't get their carpet cleaned very often and even though he knew what he was doing I did not. It would have been nice if he walked me around the room and said this is what I am going to do and use and here is the process and what to expect before starting. But I'm sure if I had been more present and inquisitive he would have explained. I wish I had taken before and after picture. Great local family owned small business!!!!

I have been volunteering at this non profit for over 10 years now. They provide healthy lunches for…read morekids and fresh produce for adults. This is done in food desert areas. They also do cooking classes for kids a few times a year. Every Tuesday they have a neighborhood market where they sale some of their private farm produced vegetables at a lower, affordable prices. Everything is done to help our lower level income communities. The produce is grown on their own farm and used solely for them. There are numerous opportunities available to volunteer by going to their website and signing up. They also do a yearly toy drive so that "Santa" can distribute them on their routes. All of this is done using donations from corporations, individuals, as well as their many yearly fundraisers like a Golf outing or Run. Get involved in the community and sign up, you won't regret it, super satisfying knowing you made an impact!

I came here as a chaperone to attend a Grace cooking class. The class was wonderful and gave all…read morethe participants a chance to learn great cooking skills. The instructors were all very patient and knowledgeable while guiding each participant proper ways to cut vegetables, and checking for doneness on protein items while making a balanced meal. The theme for today was 4th of July grilling. The participants were taught how to assemble a vegetable skewer, season it and put it on the grill. They also made hamburgers and hotdogs, how to slice tomatoes and onions for the burgers and assemble their meal with condiments and toppings. Everyone got to choose what they wanted to make and which vegetables they wanted on their skewer. They cut the vegetables into smaller pieces and threaded them on the bamboo skewers. They learned how to flip burgers safely on the hot grill and to keep a proper distance from the heat. In the end everyone had a complete meal of a hamburger or hotdog, grilled vegetables and French fries. Second Harvest has many other culinary classes available and I'll be looking into others for sure. The facilities are all very clean and they use all the best food handling and safety practices. I love that programs like this exist to help people of all abilities learn life skills. There is much more to the food bank than just food.
