We are just overnighting here but the campground is clean and well maintained. Check in was quick and easy and we are in spot 209 which is a level pull through. I didn't use any of the facilities so I can't comment on them. The only caveat is that what looks like grass is really stickery so don't let the dogs test it. So far, I've been here for a month and the staff have been wonderful. This is the only RV park nearby, at least that I can tell, that has a secure gate that requires a code to get in. They offer complimentary breakfast on the weekends which I have not had a chance to try as I like to sleep in. I always see them roaming around maintaining the grounds. Is the place perfect? No. The WiFi sucks, but the data signal seems to be pretty iffy in the entire area, and the park is old and needs some updating. But, the people are friendly, it's cost effective, and it has everything I need for the 3 months (or more) that I will be here! They even assisted this newbie with backing in my camper! read more

Edit for the owner response- we wouldn't have had a problem and would have completely understood if we were told at booking that moving to the big rig lot depended on if they had availability. In fact when we booked, we were originally offered the big rig lot, but then the staff told us that we could try the regular site first and then move if we felt like it was too tight. We were assured three different times by three different people that we could move to the big rig lot if we wanted to and none of them ever said it depended on availability, the only time that was brought up was when we went into the office when we were ready to move to the big rig lot. I also understand that the balloon fiesta is a huge thing here, and that is why I inquired about if it would be a problem when we were booking. The guy that was helping us assured us that we would not have any issues as the campground prioritizes monthly bookings over the balloon fiesta bookings. We originally planned on staying here for 3-4 months as my husband was coming to Albuquerque for a work contract for that length. Before we arrived, I had booked over the phone and was assured by two different staff members, including a manager that the site they had for us would fit our 44 foot camper and we would be able to park one of our vehicle vehicles at the site too, but they also said if we did feel like it was too tight once we arrived, we could move to the big rig lot. When we arrived, our camper did fit, but even parking at an angle, I could not get my small SUV easily parked without it hanging into the road a bit. We were only there for a couple days before we had to take off on a road trip without our camper, leaving it at the site for a couple weeks while we were gone. While we were on the road trip, I called and spoke to the lady who helped check us in to see if I would be able to get my refund, as they charge me for something they shouldn't have upon check-in and she said she would have to fix it later when her manager was there. She also assured us that when we returned, we would be able to move to the big rig lot as we felt like the space was too tight and we're needing more space. Upon returning, we came into the office to inquire about which spot we would be able to move in the big rig lot and the lady working at this time rudely interrupted me when I was explaining that we were told we could move to the big rig lot and told me "only if we have availability" and and when I asked if there is any availability, she informed me that only the back row, which were back in spots, were the only monthly sites they have at the big rig lot and we would not be able to move because they were full. I found this very frustrating, especially when I booked it we had specified we wanted a pull through lot and we were assured multiple times that we would be able to move to the big rig lot. She didn't seem like she was willing to help, and because of this, and the overall condition of the park itself, we immediately looked online for other campgrounds and moved to a different campground that is much better that same day. The lack of communication and unwillingness to help was not the only reason we chose to leave, these sites themselves seemed very tight side to side, and as dog owners, we expect there to be other dogs at the park, however, there were many people that let their dogs run around off leash, which is unsafe for people like us who have a reactive dog and does not like to be run up on by other dogs. It was also very noisy as one camper behind us had close to 10 dogs they would keep out in their little pet fence area. The grounds were covered in goat heads, so our dog had goat heads in her paws constantly. I understand goat heads are not uncommon here, however in the time we've been at this new campground in Albuquerque as well, there have been no goat heads we've seen and our dog seems to be way more comfortable here. Maybe if you're staying for a night this place would be okay because it is right of the highway, but otherwise I don't recommend staying here. read more

my husband is at your office and there's nothing in the night box. he has been driving all day and i was told there would be an envelope with access and parking info. your emergency voicemail box is full and there's no way to get help. i see from other reviews its been full for months! this is incredily frustrating and it is horrible customer service. it's irresponsible and disrespectful. i spoke to you on the phone and you told me you would be ready for his late checkin. there is another person there also with the same problem. my husband is supposed to be staying in your lodge so now he has nowhere to stay. he can't even park like an rv. i can't believe you did this. i really really can't. of course you didn't forget to charge me! UPDATE: In response to the owner/manager response below -- so your excuse is that "someone took the paperwork," and this was a known issue and yet you did nothing to account for that or make sure that people have a way to check in if this happens. Expensive for what you get for an over night stay. Had on extra car. If you are pulling a car behind you.... You will have to unhook to fit. Over flow parking is full with vehicles and trailers that are double parked in spots. Had to leave our vehicle up at office and walk back in a wind storm. Office knew we had to park away from our rig. Wouldn't be a big deal but getting pelted with dirt wasn't fun. The site next to us stayed open all night. Either an offer to our rig in one of the golf carts or being able to park by rig would have been appreciated. Maybe staff didn't want to be in the wind or just didn't think of offering. Water at the spigot froze up because they didn't have it wrapped for quick over night stays. Staff were very friendly just didn't consider weather or convenience for travelers. read more

Pads are concrete and fit our 30' 5th wheel. Picnic tables are rusted out and unusable on 2 sides. We reserved a "Big Rig" site and were placed in another area of the park because a rally group was supposedly using the Big Rig area. The staff who checked me in didn't say a thing and no correction in payment was offered. The pool hours had changed from what is advertised and close at 5:00p. The pool was nasty dirty and the water discolored. The top skimmer was working but the bottom skimmer didn't do a thing to clean the dirt, sand, and leaf's. The hot tub was sandy (dirty) and same temp as the pool. Spaces are to close together, which was another reason we reserved a Big Rig site. I'm sure nothing will be done to improve or correct these concerns. When staff doesn't have the decency to tell customers they are changing the site or offer compensation, it tells me they don't really care about the customer. read more

Arrived and there was no water or power. They said 20-30 minutes it would be on. Dog park was loaded with invisible prickers. Dogs got nailed. I suggested they give a discount due to no water or power to no avail. Another visitor in the lobby said this has happened to her in past visits to this park. Two hours later still no power and the office was locked up with a sign they would be back when power on. Knocked on door and guy would not let us in. We left Stay away!! I read so many reviews about this place having poor customer service or staff with bad attitudes, but thankfully we did not experience that. The woman that checked us in was pleasant & efficient. The 2 gentlemen we interacted with who appear to be part of the park maintenance crew were very friendly & outgoing, cracking jokes with us. During our 5 day stay, the general store, lounge, and pool were all closed, But that did not present any issues for us. We still had access to the laundry which worked great. They have a good size dog park and only wish they had an additional one for the size RV park this is. We had to be timely to use it w/all the many others who also needed to use it. read more

I stayed at American RV Park from Jan 2021 through July 2021. HUGE disappointment!! I dealt with it for longer than I should have because of "Covid" & because other parks in the area were full, but if I had the chance to do it all again, I would never stay there. No amenities except wifi & they finally opened the office a couple weeks ago. Wifi might as well be non-existent. Electricity goes out every day. Water pressure is worse than anywhere I've ever been before. Laundry machines are "out of order" quite often. Yet, even with no amenities, full price is still charged. No discount. Also, very rude managers. Poorly maintained campground. Never spray/weed lots or cut grass. Also, very rarely water grass. read more

If you take your children to the shower at the front of the park, DO NOT LEAVE THEM ALONE!!! The water temperature in the front showers does not stay at an even temperature. One minute it is okay, the next minute it will scald you!!!!! The park is nice. The pool WAS NOT OPEN, nor was the hot tub. The bathrooms and showers in the center of the park are OLD!! Cruddy shower dials, HOT AS HADES and not very clean. It seems it is checked once a day. It was useable. I will leave it at that. We stayed three nights. read more

I was down in Albuquerque due to my father being in the hospital. Was told told one rate; then get a call to pay double. I paid for 3 months; stayed for 10 days (due to the passing of my father) and was told I get no refund! Thats is not what there RV Park guidelines I signed stated. Notice that American RV Resort, 13500 Central Ave SW, Albuquerque, NM 87121 was Good Sam Approved. The night we pulled in our information was not available for our reservation (made it eight months in advance). After speaking with and getting disconnected three times with your 800 number, being left out in the heat as well as in the dark we called and spoke with your emergency maintenance man. He provided the gate code and a spot for us for the night. Half way through the night the power stopped working...essentially we paid for a parking spot. The next morning we went to the office, after a 20 minute wait we were told that we needed to move to make way for someone else that reserved that spot (horrible customer service after screwing up our reservation). Additionally, "due to COVID" the park did not have enough staff to operate any of the amenities NOT EVEN BASIC amenities like the bathrooms and showers (we stayed in four other RV parks during that week, not one of them used the "COVID excuse" to not provide what was paid for). We were then moved to another spot and again the power went out...this time we called the emergency maintenance man and we were told regardless of the 85 degree heat, that maybe it would be fixed that night but most likely not; again not even offering the most basic customer service of providing a spot that had working electricity. So again for a second night we essentially paid for a parking spot. Out of our entire cross country trip this reservation was the only one to allow us to pay for an experience at your park and not even deliver what we could have done for free in a Walmart parking lot. As a business owner myself, I found it completely unprofessional to advertise services that you knowingly could not provide, and disparaging that this business would be so willing to take our money and not take the most basic of customer service steps of having someone reach out to inform us of the lack of basic services available. Two stars is only because its a tough time right now and maybe this park is nice when everything is up and running. Maybe they have actual customer service and try to do a good job when fully operational. We were given Site 2. It backed up to the road and I-40 and was tiny. The site was overrun with ants. The loudest site you could imagine. Just sucked in every way possible. They had dozens of empty sites and chose to give the people from Florida arriving after hours one of the worst sites in the park.They mistreated us because they could. I recommend you call them and ask for a site instead of allowing them to assign your site. The person they put us next to was a full time resident of the park who yelled at my wife because he thought our dogs leash was too long! His dogs barked all day and night, he only came out of his run-down RV to eyeball us. He never went anywhere. Overall, this park is a hard pass unless you are driving on I40 and need to get one night's rest. read more

Very nice RV park, just off the Interstate. Long, pull thru sites; level, concrete. Check in was easy with everything in order. A fellow on a golf cart led us to our site. They had a nice pool although we didn't use it. The restrooms were exceptionally clean. We would definitely stay here gain on our way thru Albuquerque. read more

We checked in a day late because it took longer than we expected to get here from Denver and ended up spending the night at a rest area on the side of 25. The park is clean and well maintained. The dog park is small and has gravel but at least they have one. The lots are level. The staff has been extraordinarily friendly. I don't know what the previous yelper experienced but I haven't gotten any strange looks. The showers are clean. The playground is dated but hey, they have one. The pool area is well maintained. There is noise from the highway but I couldn't hear it in the trailer. The prices to stay a night and in the store are reasonable. I am actually planning a trip back next summer to stay here and am looking forward to it read more

They stand over you while you serve yourself the stale "continental" breakfast (there are boiled eggs and week old muffins) enforcing 1000 nonsensical rules ("don't put muffins in the toaster" "don't fill your own coffee mug with our coffee" "no popcorn in the pool area"). Hey there American RV, no one wants to be neurotically surveillanced or treated like toddlers.Perhaps that's why the RV place next door is full but this place is empty. read more

Immaculate, perfect facilities. Moderate highway noise. Curious, that with over seventy cable channels, MSNBC, home to the most-watched cable commentary in the nation, is absent. With bad weather looming, and the park nearly empty, we'd chanced a second night and lost 100% of our fee cancelling the moment their office opened. At an empty park. Plan accordingly if weather is in doubt, extend your stay incrementally. This park appears to welcome Next Generation RV'ers, has no political or religious symbolism that might make others uncomfortable despite the subtle dog whistle in its name and logo. I intend to put it on our list of favorites, but will extend night to night. read more

This was a wonderful place to stop and spend some relaxing time with our kids and our dog. The amenities are all very nice, the grounds are clean. Spacious and the pool was wonderful. There are no trash cans at each site do you do have to walk a bit or drive to take your trash out, other than that very pleased with our stay for the night. On site market store has a lot of essentials plus some other fun things to grab. We got to the continental breakfast on Saturday at 8:59 and the waitress had already cleaned everything up, no coffee or offer to let us grab some quick things. That was sort of strange but didn't bother me much, at least they offered one we were just late getting to it. 7-8:58 am is the continental breakfast period lol Good RV spot, lots of cable channels and WiFi is fast. read more

American RV We stayed here less than 3 weeks and lost power 2x in the dead of summer- (we were org set to stay 6 weeks while my husband finished a work contract) The first time the power went out was just days after we moved in. That incident was out of the parks control because a transformer busted but the other part of the issue was how the staff handled this and the second incident. My husband lost a day of work because we had to move to another spot in the park the next day only to have the power go out a second time just 2 weeks later. I was told by the front office the park themselves shut the power and water off because they were doing some work. They knew there might be a possibility that it would be out for even an hour and absolutely no communication was provided ahead of time (no email, text or even a notice on the door- however the very next day they hand delivered notices about payment to the long term RVs) I came home to a HOT RV and had I not arrived when I did our English Bulldog could have overheated and died. When I went to the office I explain the situation and they looked at me as if I was crazy. Sue was very dismissive and just said it's only been off an hour- like it was no big deal! She then said we'll there's nothing we can do and it will be back in a few minutes. To which I again explained that a situation like this could KILL my dog- she did not care. I went back to the office 45 minutes later only to discover Sue's husband (who also works there) had locked the office doors and literally stood on the other side refusing to open the door to talk to me or any of the other ppl who were there waiting for an update. The issue didn't get resolved for over 6 hours and during that time we had no one who was willing to talk to us. Bottom line they did a piss poor job in communicating, they don't care about you, your family or your animals that may be in the RV while you're out. The staff does not handle situations well and are HIGHLY unprofessional!! We will NEVER stay here again and I wouldn't recommend this park to even my worst enemy. Save yourself the headache and go down the road to High Desert- Kym is kind, professional. On a side note: they also don't clean the bathrooms or showers daily (they have a sign that says they close them daily for cleaning between 11-12) but it's a lie. I saw the same nasty hair balls in the ladies bathroom from day 1 of us arriving till the day we left. The pool is also unkept, the lounge chairs are broken and the tile around the pool is falling apart. It needs major improvements- this place is not a resort by any standard. read more

We recently stayed at American RV Resort for a week (Nov 2 - 9) We were planning to watch the presidential elections while there. On Election Day we connected the TV cable and could not get a decent cable connection. We went and purchased another cable figuring ours was bad. No difference. At 4:30pm, I called the office which was closed (??) but did provide an emergency number. I called that number and a very helpful gentleman came out and tested said yes, there was a problem but he could not fix it. So we drove into Albuquerque to catch the news. Same thing for the next few days. While my husband went to the office to collect a package, he asked if we could have a some type of discount because the cable didn't work and we had to go into town to catch the latest election news. The courteous woman at the desk said she would check and someone would get back to us. The following morning I received this rather rude text massage from Robert (presumed to be the Manager or Owner): 'This is Robert at the front office American RV resort. Had a note on my mailbox that you were asking for some kind of a discount because the cable was not coming in. I cannot give you a discount because we do not charge you for the cable that's a free service we provide and if it works it works if it doesn't we attempt to get it fixed but there will be no discounts given and I would appreciate if we don't bother my staff about this issue any longer. I have already told them there will not be a discount given so therefore you will not be getting a discount and please do not bother my staff about this issue with you.' My first instinct was to call Robert and let him know how inappropriate his message was. After my husband and I discussed, we decided to wait until we were leaving to pursue the matter as if Robert didn't like our discussion, he would probably ask us to leave the park. Overall, this is a nice park, but so are many others in the area! We will not be staying here again as we prefer to visit parks where your patronage is appreciated. read more

Clean RV park with paved sites, friendly and helpful staff, and easy to navigate for big rigs. There are also ample places to walk your dog, and pet waste stations (a plus for us!). The sites are a good size - we felt like we had enough space between us and our neighbors. I also appreciate the fact that the park is gated; since it's right off the interstate, that helps with feeling safe. Easily accessible for big rigs, as I mentioned above - wide turns are possible and getting to the park from the interstate was easy. The only complaint, which is not the fault of the RV park, is that the interstate was noisy and planes heading toward the airport fly overhead during the night. read more

I stated at the park for 6 months while working on a project. It was absolutely a perfect experience. I had zero issues and the staff was always welcoming. When I travel through town this is the place I will stay. Yes, the highway is close but it calms down at night and I had zero issues sleeping. Nice Campground right off the freeway, which is a little loud. BUT very nice park and friendly staff. Sites are easy, clean and paved. Wasnt crazy about the water connection being in the ground with spider webs. Only recommendation is that the park light timers be adjusted. Super dark...didnt come on till very late. I admit, we have not stayed there, however, due to a family issue we had to cancel our reservations at this Rv resort. I made the reservations back in March 2021, had to cancel 7 weeks before our arrival. However, here's the deal, they keep $10 off each reservation, there were 2, coming and coming back from our location, and then they have yet to refund my money! Now they tell me, "oh that will come corporate check in 6 to 7 weeks. This place is absolutely lutacres!!! Do not stay at this place! If you have to cancel, you will be sorry. This might be a wonderful place to camp, but we will not have the opportunity to find out. Reservations were made, but they told my husband that they were having trouble with a new computer system and would call us back/email us with a confirmation number. Follow-up calls were never made, and each time my husband called them, the computer was still not working, but we were told not to worry, with over 200 sites there would not be a problem fitting us in. Well guess what, there would be trouble. Despite being assured during several phone calls this would be taken care of and there would be no problem, a long awaited trip to see this is ruined. The woman my husband just spoke with glibly announced they were taking reservations for this event next year. It will be a cold day below before we make reservations with this business. read more

The deluxe pull thru sites aren't as advertised on their website. There were sticker plants all over the sidewalks and throughout the park. It wasn't "well coifed". People in office don't answer phone when ringing. Gate code wouldn't work and had to call emergency number. Wouldn't recommend this campground to people with pets. Good stop and go RV park. Everything concrete, but lots of shade trees. Lots of pull through sites. rows lined up nicely to make it easy. Nice pool. And, gave us no trouble about our Rottweiler. We are to the point, as a family, that we do not stay at RV parks that discriminate against dog breeds even if we don't have our dog with us. read more

Overall we liked our stay. We were here a week on our way to California because we wanted to see some of the touristy things in the area. We stayed in the new section because of the size of our rig ( 43' fifth wheel & Ram crew cab dually ) space was just barely long enough ( about 65' & our rig is 60' when hooked up ) but we did manage to get everything out of the road. Nice, slightly off level ( nose was a bubble high ) cement pads. No grass in the new section & of course the trees are still too small to make shade. Continental breakfast was OK but nothing to rant about. Was a Little disappointed in the cable, got more channels over the air. Park is pretty close to the interstate but we weren't bothered that much by the noise. We would probably stay here again even though there are less expensive places to stay because it's convenient to town. read more

I agree with the others who had a similar experience. This is a run down park, with weeds, a lot of ants, and one of the laundry and restrooms was closed the entire time during our stay. The website advertises a pool and spa and it was closed. This was a big disappointment as the spa was one of the reasons we chose this park. We feel we were mislead by the website. It does not look like the photos and it doesn't offer the services listed. We tried to get propane and they said only one person can do it and they weren't available. We were counting on it since it was listed on the website and had to go offsite to get it. We felt the office staff overall was not helpful and even gave us a hard time when we asked for change to use the laundry room. We even purchased several things at their store, but even that seemed like an inconvenience to them. The hookups were awkward and there was road noise as well. There are so many other options in the area, I would suggest you try another. We extended our stay in the area but went next door which was so much nicer! read more
