I've always wanted to train martial arts in Portland, my hometown. Luckily one of best friends trains here and invited me to try out a class. Today I participated in the Brazilian jiu-jitsu competition class. It started with warm ups and then the instructor began providing instruction on some techniques. The professor was really clear with instruction and made an effort to check on all students to answer any questions and provide adjustments for more precise technique. Sparring partners during rolling had a lot of excitement but were respectful and technical. Everyone here puts in their best effort but not at the expense of their partner's safety. I really appreciated this as a guest participant. The facility itself is extremely clean, organized, and there are both men and women locker rooms. Front desk employee was also super helpful, giving me a tour and introducing the cool merchandise. If you're in Portland and want to try BJJ, Muay Thai, MMA, or are just looking for a good work out with a super chill community of martial artists and instructors, this is the place to go, 120%. read more
