College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving - Dover

Jasper and David were on time and quick. My only problem…read morewas they had to put together a desk for me that the HUNKS in Florida had taken apart. I was busy and not paying enough attention while they were doing this task. After they left, I discovered the roll top would not completely open. When I looked, there were 3 pens blocking the slide. I was only able to remove one, the roll top is still not working and I will probably have to pay someone to repair the desk.

BUYER BEWARE! I absoultely would not recommend using this company if you are concerned about damage…read moreto your property. We used College Hunks in Delaware for a move from Newark to Middletown. During the loading they ripped one of our upholstered chairs and didn't tell us. Then during the unloading they unwrapped solid wood furniture and placed it on concrete. They chipped our wood dresser, chipped a brand new marble coffee table, scraped up the corners of multiple wooden chairs and end tables. They also broke the wire to a treadmill and tracked mud in on our new carpets. I purchased insurance but when I contacted them to file a claim they refused to let me and only offerred to refund the cost of the insurance I purchased. I called them and the rude woman I spoke with tried to blame me for damage to the treadmill and accussed me of inconsistencies and said that the damage was normal wear & tear. I will be pursuing my claim further, but please do not use this company if you think there is a possibility you could want to file a claim on your damaged furniture. They are the worst.

PLEASE READ if you're considering hiring a moving company:…read more We hired a company called "MOVE CREW LLC" and it was by far the worst nightmare experience we have had with any company providing a service, not just for moving. This is the most unprofessional company and people we have ever encountered. There were so many things that went wrong but here are a few to highlight and to warn people before they get in business with them. DO NOT HIRE THEM! 1. PACKING (See pictures)- Dishes and cups were just thrown in boxes with no packing material. They also used the truck blankets to cover our dishes, cups, utensils because they didn't bring packing material and is so unsanitary because they use them for covering floors or the trucks. We actually provided them with the packing paper, tape, and scissors to half ass the packing that they did. They didn't even label any boxes so we have no idea where anything is until we unbox everything. We paid for a whole house moving and it even stated on the contract "packing ALL materials. They only packed 70% of our kitchen only and nothing else. We ended up having to go back to the house and fill our SUV multiple times to pack the rest of the house. 2. Their guys were under the influence and smelled like they had just did it in their car before they came into the house. One guy was wearing sunglasses even though it was raining and cloudy the day of the move. I imagine for a service job like a moving company, that should be completely unacceptable but the owner seemed fine with it. I didn't feel comfortable with random people coming into my home and moving our valuables while they're high. They also went through our pantry and ate our toddlers snacks and even decided to throw a couple bags of popcorn in the microwave which they ate halfway and just left the rest on the kitchen counters. 3. Wall and furniture damage (see pictures) they simply said "oh shit my bad" when we pointed it out. They didn't wrap our couch cushions or tables and they're all scratched up and stained from being thrown in the truck. We asked them to fix these things and they said they're too busy for it. It clearly stated on the contract "wrap all items with shrink wrap for maximum protection" LIES. 4. They brought their 10 year old kid on the job who just kept grabbing little things throughout the house and throwing it on the back of the truck. Probably a good idea to ask the customer if bringing your child to the job site is okay beforehand. 5. Appliance damage- they lost hardware for my fridge and washing machine. They also didn't connect the washing machine correctly so when we turned it on, it flooded our laundry room. We asked them to fix it but no one reached out because they said they're too busy. I'm still looking for my desk hardware which they disassembled. 6. Moving items to where they go- I imagine part of a moving job is putting things where they go. These guys didnt do it but when we asked them to put heavy stuff or boxes to where they go, they gave us an attitude for it. We kind of got scared to ask them to move stuff towards the end because they just kept giving us dirty looks and attitude for doing their job we paid for. 7. Terrible customer service- I have tried to reach out to the owner, George Williams many times and he has ignored my calls and texts. I finally get in contact with him today. He was extremely rude and told me "I have other customers besides you". He then texts me "not to call or text him anymore because he wants to get his attorney involved". Dude, you and your company did an extremely terrible job for a service I PAID FOR and you don't want to discuss or fix anything? What the hell kind of company is this? We have 2 young kids so the moving was already stressful but this company just made it 1,000 times worse. There are many moving companies so I would avoid this company. They're unprofessional, reckless with moving and packing, and awful customer service. Oh and their employees are obviously under the influence on the job. Also.... hide your snacks too

All in all pretty satisfied with this. The trailer showed up when it should have (we'll, 90 minutes…read morepast the window I think), scheduling pickup was easy and delivery happened when it was supposed to as well. 2 of the 3 truck drivers we interacted with were very friendly and nice guys. Calling in to ABF was nice too, the phone staff pleasant. I marked it down a star because the bulkhead door was a little broken and didn't have locking pins. We had to bang on the metal bracket the bar goes through to straighten it out enough to move the bar through it. So- wasn't expecting having so much trouble with that. But all of our stuff arrived with minimal or no damage. I think our furniture had very light scuffing from running against each other- we should have used more moving blankets. And one glass dish broke, but honestly that was my fault at I didn't really pack it well. We had many glass and ceramic dishes that all made it fine, computers are fine, we even packed empty 5-gallon glass carboys that made it. So- honestly that was a pleasant surprise m, we were sure more stuff would break. We used 17' of the trailer and our truck didn't leave the state. We put an air tag in it to track it ourselves. It made 3 stops- in Chester PA, Carlisle, then Erie. Not sure what if anything they transported with our stuff but it didn't seem to have any negative impact. We didn't cover our stuff with tarps like we should have, but it worked out. All in all, everything went better than expected honestly, given we were planning for some things to break and nothing really did. This isn't the most user-friendly moving experience, with that big heavy bulkhead. If you want your stuff to arrive in good condition I'd recommend hiring professional movers to pack the trailer, or just do it very intentionally yourself, using some ratchet straps, bungee cords, moving blankets, and tarps. Pack anything fragile in boxes with lots of padding, bubble wrap, fill all the air spaces with packing paper, and don't stack heavy boxes on top of them. It took us so long to pack everything well.. I'd give yourself like two weeks, assuming you're not doing it all yourself and you're moving a two bedroom apartment's worth. I'd give yourself more time if you have more or are doing it yourself. Better to take longer to do things right so your stuff arrives not broken than rush and lose things you own.
