It was right on a main highway, and looked pretty desolate. I want 24/7 access to my loved ones, and got a bad vibe from this place. Don't waste your time.

They did not properly treat acute constipation, did not treat a fungal sore on his hip, did not treat him for a nasty sore on his heel, and furthermore, did not inform me of it. For all three problems, I had to step in and rattle them into action. Otherwise, these issues would remain unaddressed. It appears they are just waiting for him to die untreated.

Our need came in the midst of the COVID crisis, and each and every caregiver could not have done better. The empathy and expertise demonstrated was exceptional and I would make the same decision to use their services again. I learned so much about end of life issues, and was met with patience and all my questions were answered.

My first contact with Hospice of the Valley was when I called to find out about the process of…read moresetting up hospice care for my father. The woman I spoke with was extremely patient and thorough in answering all my questions. Fast forward two days. While my sister and my dad's companion were unable to make decisions on the needs of my father and his quick decline, the urgency in my sister's voice forced the decisions on what would be the best for him. Hospice was contacted and they had an in-take nurse out within 2 hours on a Thursday, about 7 pm. A plan was created for my dad and he was made comfortable. The following morning, day two, his case RN came to his home and a more detailed plan was formed. The needed meds were at my dad's house within several hours. I arrived on the third day of my dad being in hospice. While he seems somewhat better this day, we are noticing a downward trend in multiple areas. A hospice nurse stopped by as my dad caused a skin tear on his leg while we were transferring him from the toilet to the walker seat and we had trouble getting the bleeding to stop. On the fourth day in hospice, Dad had a very difficult night and the decision was made that we needed a hospital bed in hopes that we could make him more comfortable by elevating his head and knees. Hospice was contacted and we had a hospital bed within 3 hours. On the morning of the fifth day, it became quite evident that my dad's passing was imminent but we needed better pain management. Janelle, his hospice nurse, came out and spent about 2 hours with us. She walked us through the process of dying and how to ensure that our dad wouldn't be in pain. She shared with me how to take the meds, crushing them up and adding water so I could administer these drugs with a syringe into his mouth until the liquid meds got to us. No, hospice can't take away our sorrow, but they did make sure that my dad was not in pain from cancer that had metastasized into his bones, spine, and brain. Within several hours of passing, hospice had my dad's body removed from his home to the funeral home that was prearranged. The following day, the hospital bed and other equipment had been picked up. The only issue we had was not so much with hospice but the third-party company they contract with to get the meds out to the patient's homes. That company sent two of one prescription instead of an extended-release painkiller. This was rectified the following day.

The very first visit from Hospice was very depressing. Kimberly a nurse and a spokesperson for Hospice was very negative about my fiancé's prognosis. She was talking about taking her off her medications because she would not be around long. I realize that Hospice is for a persons end of life but still you don't treat people that way. As a family we were hoping for her to get better. There were some good nurses and CNA's that gave my fiancé quality care. On the last weekend of my fiancés life Kimberly and my fiancés regular nurse came on Friday to treat the leg wound she had. Well she was in a great deal of pain so Kimberly and the nurse after consulting the doctor decided to give my fiancé three full syringes of morphine in a 90 minute time frame. That is way too much morphine at one time. The result from this was that she was still in a lot of pain. Afterwards she was in a deep sleep for the next five days until her death. Needless to say she did not eat or drink. She had been on strong doses of morphine before as well. After reading this you be the judge of what happened. If I ever get in a state of when I need care I NEVER want Hospice for care!

The nurses at Lund Home cared for my grandma with kindness and dignity--she was clean, comfortable,…read moreand peaceful in their care. For that, we are grateful. Our concern is with the evaluation process. Despite our clear wishes for her to remain at Lund Home, the doctor and social worker decided to transfer her back to her memory care unit. The social worker even told us, "it wasn't her time to pass" and she had "2-4 weeks left." We begged and pleaded for her to stay in their care till her end of life. After being transported back to her memory care unit, that very night she declined, and she passed away the following morning. The doctor never returned our calls, and our concerns were completely disregarded. It was clear to us that Lund Home is run more like a business than an end-of-life care facility. While the nursing staff was wonderful, the decision-making and communication from the evaluation team were devastating and unacceptable. Families deserve honesty, respect, and compassion during such a difficult time, and we did not receive that here. We will never return to the Lund Home and strongly urge others to seek a different option for their loved ones.

In the Red Base was Hot Wheels Car , my first, a Fridge Magnate, An Orange Marker 4 pieces of assorted Chocolate. A Stone Ridge Pad . Also Caplin Tim included his business card and tapped to the side of my Birthday Goodie Bag was a Birthday card signed by the Director of Operations, I met her, 1 of the 2 Social Workers, and the receptionist who is waiting to be tested so she can assume RN duties for the Hospice. My only Question. I ask after Chaplain Tim shared the Minimum Hours required are 1. I stated I would like to work a few hours whenever I am asked. However, if you are a family member…read morelooking for hospice services for a family member, it is comforting to be able to search out as much information as you can, from others who have walked before you. My mother spent her last week on earth at The Serenity House. It sounds old-fashioned and corny, but finding them was the "God send" I was looking for and needing. I was feeling lost and frightened about the process of caring for my Mom in her last days. Physically and emotionally it can be challenging. You love you family and want to take care of them, but the time may come that you need supportive services. The staff at Serenity House were very competent and caring. My Mom was very well cared for and I appreciate how they would brace her with pillows to keep her comfortable and relief pressure. The facility was always clean and the workers all genuinely seemed to enjoy their jobs and seemed to relate well and respect one another. It is worth noting that it is a very lovely facility and the rooms were very nice. I owe them a debt of gratitude for not only what they did for my Mom (who had dementia) and really slept her whole time there, it is was they provided me. A sense of caring, safety and support in the days up to my Mom passing away. They took the burden and lifted it off my shoulders and I thank them for that.
